In amongst the usual bilge about not going into coalition with the SNP because they are "dangerously radicalised" to be transphobic, some Scottish Greens are also demanding the Scottish Government "repeal the Prostitution Act of 2007, which criminalised the sale of sex in public because of an “over-prevalence of the trans community amongst people who sell sex, due to housing issues, lack of employment possibilities and social discrimination”."

I thought this was an interesting take. Is there any evidence in the UK that this is true?

Hold on so the Greens are basically saying if you are trans we are not going to make sure you have access to housing and freedom from discrimination in employment (which in the UK everyone has) instead we want you to sell your body?

Well, if we avoid a SNP/Greens coalition this will put an interesting spin on things.

If the SNP can't form a coalition with the Greens, they won't have a majority. So, not sure quite what effect that will have on the SNP government, but I doubt it will be positive.

It will put them in a different position - held hostage by a tiny cabal of extremists within a very fringe party.

Interesting.

Prostitution is a trans issue?

Maybe the Scottish Greens haven't noticed that there is an "over -prevalence" of one sex class "amongst people who sell sex". I would imagine they also face housing issues, lack of employment possibilities, social discrimination as well as many other difficulties.
