Did you know you are now on the naughty step with special rules for what you can and can not post?

Why would anyone start a thread in sex and gender and who are MNHQ to arbitrarilly move someone's thread.

As I am opposed to any form of segregation I suggest we just boycott this forum and stick with feminist chat which has the added bonus of no rules.

And as no one has bothered to explain what has happened how can they tell me or anyone else we are in the wrong.

@JellySlice

Careful, Elements, that's what got LangCleg banned.

I think MNHQ need to read the Coercive Control thread.

WinterTrees · 21/06/2021 17:27

I thought we'd established years ago that most of the regular users of FWR aren't really that interested in trans issues. We wish trans people well, would robustly defend their rights to live free from discrimination and harassment, but that's about as far as it goes. Our interest here is quite distinctly focused on the rights of women and girls - to define themselves, assert their boundaries, and maintain their existing hard-won protections under the equalities act.

So I do bitterly resent having to post matters pertaining to all the above in a topic called 'sex and gender' (one word of which already has a board on MN where people discuss bedroom activities, the other word of which is something I think is utter meaningless bollocks and the reason women's rights are rolling back, so actually feels a bit like we're being trolled) when I'm talking about FEMINISM.

CardinalLolzy · 21/06/2021 16:53

As in threads about trans issues.

I can't understand your logic. You seem to be saying that 'trans threads, i.e. threads about trans issues' wouldn't go in Feminism chat. Is this not what you are saying?

Tanith · 21/06/2021 16:51

MN has also reorganised the Childcare boards. I think it’s a site-wide thing, not just Feminism.

ChattyLion · 21/06/2021 16:47

I’m very confused what’s to go where and what’s allowed now.
I don’t want to have to hunt about on different boards to read or post. Could we not just have one Feminism Chat section like before?

Quaggars · 21/06/2021 16:47

Trans threads.
As in threads about trans issues.
Why are you jumping to I mean trans people can't possibly want to talk about feminism?
I'm sure some trans people want to talk about feminism issues, why wouldn't they?
It doesn't mean you can't post there if you're trans, or if you're trans you can't possibly be interested in feminist issues Confused

CardinalLolzy · 21/06/2021 16:43

You said trans threads would go into one board - did you not mean the S&G one? Or what did you mean by 'trans threads'?

Quaggars · 21/06/2021 16:39

Revealing that you assume trans people can't possibly want to chat about feminism.

Way to twist what I actually said.
Of course trans people can and will want to chat about feminism.

CardinalLolzy · 21/06/2021 16:37

So trans threads get separated into another board, and another board created for non trans threads.

Revealing that you assume trans people can't possibly want to chat about feminism.

altforvarmt · 21/06/2021 16:37

I was planning on hanging around this forum (even if I think the name is stupid). This is where the real issues can get discussed.

The other board is now, I guess, reserved for nicey-nicey be-kind liberal feminism.

FannyCann · 21/06/2021 16:19

How will it be policed? If a thread in the chat corner veers into gender will it be moved or will there be mass deletions?

For instance recent threads relating to attacks on women in Dulwich are of mainstream interest to women whatever their beliefs regarding gender. Unfortunately the descriptions of the possible perpetrator were confusing leading to much debate. Are women only allowed to discuss a matter of personal safety in one corner of Mumsnet?

littlbrowndog · 21/06/2021 16:16

I really don’t understand now where I should post.

Where can you use the words sex. Or the word gender

It’s become so confusing.

Is one place like a fight club and the other place for agreeing ?

@Quaggars

How is it silencing women though? I mean we're all here, talking about it. So trans threads get separated into another board, and another board created for non trans threads. I think it's a good thing, it creates room for more voices, not just one.
But 'Sex and Gender'? Surely the vast amount of feminist topics come under this umbrella? When they had 'feminist chat' and then all the other boards last time they messed about everybody just posted to feminist chat anyway - it made no difference. I suspect that is what will happen again tbh. Going to be some busy modding shuttling those threads back and forth. Grin

@wanderinwomb

They are actually going ahead with this??? I thought it was some stupid heatwave induced nonsense.

Fer Fucks Sake.

And now are sorting PREVIOUS threads into separate pens.
THERE IS NOTHING IN FEMINISM WHERE SEX AND GENDER ARENT RELEVANT.

This was at request of (redacted) who are upset that some threads are more active than others. Unfucking believable to allow one's company to be used as a tool by trolls.

Absolutely this.

When is feminism not about sex and gender. Utterly ridiculous.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/06/2021 16:03

@wanderinwomb

The only people happy about it are people like this.

In fact several previously banned posters think it's just marvelous.

They are the ones that matter. The ones that write emails to MNHQ complaining about feeling hurt or excluded. The ones that MNHQ creates new boards for.
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/06/2021 16:02

I just don't see it that way. Both boards are under FWR, and the S&G is likely to continue to be the busiest because, at the moment, that is what most of us are interested in.

I disagree. There are lots of interesting threads in FemChat too, where sex and gender is also important and being discussed.

I don't usually agree with Quaggar, but I agree that MN had effectively made trans and non-trans board - I don't understand why MNHQ isn't more honest about that in the naming, it would make it much simpler to understand what to post where.

@MiladyBerserko

So we are supposed to be grateful that we are being corralled into to the corner Bore?

Sex and gender is at the core of feminism. It's not a dirty little subject.

This is utterly shameful. However, we will prevail. MN can no longer credibly claim that they support women's rights. I have no doubt that they will continue to claim this though.

I just don't see it that way. Both boards are under FWR, and the S&G is likely to continue to be the busiest because, at the moment, that is what most of us are interested in.

Oh the great schism has already happened has it...? FFS Hmm

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/06/2021 15:55

@CervixSampler

What happens if a post covers feminism, sex and gender all at once like most of them would?

Yet another way of silencing women, in my view.

Then it goes in S&G surely?
