Thank you to all the Wonderful Women who took it upon themselves to write to Portsmouth Guildhall in support of FiLiA.

In the face of malicious claims by the (supposedly) anti-Fascist groups of Southampton and Portsmouth about our organisation, we are really grateful for your show of Solidarity.

The venue for our annual conference have reached out to us to ask if those writing in could please stop now, as they have received so many, that they are struggling to keep up and get on with their day-to-day job!

If those silly teenagers and random oddballs are harassing people at work on grounds of a protected characteristic, it’s still not on no matter how stoic those workers are.

I'm sure the Portsmouth Guildhall know who Filia are and doubt they will take much notice of a bunch of silly teenagers and some random odd balls having a tantrum.

IIRC the FiLiA team include at least one excellent legal mind anyway.

I’m fuming at this and have just emailed Portsmouth Guildhall in support of them and FiLiA, and reported the harrassment to Hampshire Constabulary. It takes a few minutes online and was very easy to do. It seems quite straightforward that this is harassment on the grounds of a protected characteristic.

I’m going in October, very much looking forward to it!

I live about 9 miles from the venue so was thinking of going this year. Will definitely go.

Given the impact of Covid, the Guildhall can't afford to be sued

I hope the same lawyers who acted for Maya Forstater can be instructed by Filia, and they can contact the Portsmouth Guildhall, and ask them to ignore these nasty authoritarians who wish to prevent women from meeting, and explain about discrimination on the basis of belief if they do cancel the booking.
