www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/exclusive-three-more-women-attacked-by-knife-wielding-suspect-in-east-dulwich/

From the article:

"Today (June 15) a 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Police say they believe she is the only suspect, and had initially been mistaken for a man. "

Who had mistaken her for a man. The police? The victims?

[quote yetanotherusernameAgain]According to the local police Twitter feed, a 53-year old woman called Marie Archer has been charged and was due to appear in court this morning:

"A woman has been charged in relation to a series of separate assaults against four women last weekend at #WoodVale #Sydenham v@MPSDulwichHill Marie Archer, 53 (06.12.67) will at Bromley Magistrates’ Court this morning."

This post points to the police charging Marie Archer for assaults in Wood Vale and Sydenham though? The woman attacked in front of her child was in Wood Vale.

It is all very odd.

Someone on the East Dulwich forum has asked for clarity from the local councillor.

I was also wondering if they were a transman. But assuming that it's the same Marie Archer referenced in that other news article from 2019 (fair assumption as all crimes in SE London) I am far from clear now. Why on earth do they keep referencing a secret bodily fluid, as well as spit. I've definitely read the word "urine" on local news before.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/06/2021 13:45

Is it possible they are transman? Transmen do superficially pass quite well, and they are known to have an offending rate higher that women not on testosterone. In my limited experience transmen can also look younger than you would expect.

I agree though, there is something very, very odd about this case.

MarshaBradyo · 17/06/2021 13:43

@YellowFish12

That can not be the same thing.

The attacks on the Dulwich forum were about a young black man with a single back ear pod in, strangling random women including in front one of their kids.

😫 they haven’t caught him then?
Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/06/2021 13:39

It's all very odd.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/06/2021 13:34

"Other substance"? Strikes me as a very mealy mouthed term when they were happy to specify "sputum"? If it was piss or shit you'd think they would have said, I think?

Is this the same person?

St John's Road, Penge: Woman arrested after allegedly attacking van

Police say Marie Archer, 51, started attacking a parked van while armed with a garden rake and an empty bottle of tequila.

Callmejudith · 17/06/2021 13:27

This whole thing is utterly bizarre.

YellowFish12 · 17/06/2021 13:19

How very very odd. Marie Archer must be very youthful to have fooled so many people into thinking she was a young black man. This is all so confusing!

I do really hope they have the right person, because those random, violent attacks were very scary.

FannyCann · 17/06/2021 13:16

Let's hope there's a reporter there who can clear up some of the inconsistencies. Perhaps Marie is a very youthful looking 53 year old.

“ Why is it even relevant? ”

Not sure which bit you mean but if there was a dangerous person on the loose, I’d like to know if I’m looking out for, a man or a woman and I’d expect the description to fit the person, unlike Lisa’s description: “a woman dressed like a man”!

EyesOpening · 17/06/2021 12:11

@FOJN

That's just trolling now 😂

You would think so wouldn't you but we know that the majority of people simply do not understand this is the reality of self ID which is why the "be kind" movement is still so pervasive.

Keeps changing the terms used but one of them was "trans lesbian."

Google mspec lesbian to see how far we've come. Shock

I saw this thread on Twitter the other day where people were stating their definitions of bisexual etc, imagine this spreading to other things - you’re in a restaurant and you order steak and a jacket potato and they bring out a bacon sandwich and chips but they claim it is steak and a jacket potato!
EyesOpening · 17/06/2021 12:07

@mumwon

imagine this person in court & being id by witness lawyer "Now you are saying you were strangled by a man or a woman - your child says one thing & as you can see they are definitely a woman" ..."
I don’t know how realistic this might be but you hear about people being discredited as reliable witnesses in the stand - you say it was a man in his 20s/30s who attacked yet the accused is clearly a woman in her 50s….
andyoldlabour · 17/06/2021 11:42

YellowFish12

It makes me wonder who the person is who the police have arrested? Are they a totally innocent woman?

YellowFish12 · 17/06/2021 10:28

I'm confused.

I get the police take male offenders' word at being female and thus report as such despite all the evidence staring us in the face to the contrary.

...but WTF is about this person being 53?!

NiceGerbil · 17/06/2021 01:38

The major issue with this is that

Violent crimes committed by women are unusual and sex offences more so

They usually get in the press because it's out of the ordinary

Many just glance at headlines

The fact that the general public will get the impression that women are out raping, assaulting, using knives and attacking strangers etc will just gradually seep in

There is a massive pushback around highlighting male violence, from various quarters. Women do it too!

This will push the societal view to those thoughts. Especially given that most men and women and everyone have massive discomfort about facing up to that, even hearing it.

The MRAs have been pushing this for years.
Women are just as violent as men in relationships they just never report it.
And then the current topic. A thread the other day said that women were saying they would beat a transwoman in the ladies to death. ???!!! So the idea that women are as violent as men, as likely to attack people, and as likely to overpower their victim is handy. Bollocks obviously. But very handy.

Shifting societal perceptions about the vulnerability of women and girls, that they are violent, carry out assaults and sex offences, and in general can look after themselves and in fact are well able to attack men randomly and win. That's a worrying message for loads of reasons.

TurquoiseLemur · 17/06/2021 01:26

@GreyhoundG1rl

I'll bet there's a damn good reason this person was "mistaken" for a man Hmm
I agree.

Am aware of someone (they were on my Facebook Friends list for all of half an hour before I did some much-needed defriending) who insists they are a woman. Keeps changing the terms used but one of them was "trans lesbian."

This person has a moustache.

RickiTarr · 17/06/2021 01:19

@toffeebutterpopcorn

“Excuse me, could I possibly ask - if you could just stop jabbing at me with that kitchen knife for a no - I’m wondering, am I addressing Mr Mad Attacker or Ms Mad Attacker?”

Aren’t stranglers and stabbers statistically more likely to be male? Women are more likely to be poisoners (or so I read somewhere).

Such beautiful manners. 😊
SengaMac · 17/06/2021 01:17
Sad I'm totally sick of this 'woman' crap for males. They are still male, whatever they call themselves, so they should be reported as being male if the police and press are so confused about what is a woman or a man.
ProudExclu · 17/06/2021 01:14

*oops meant to put thought that was gonna be about my ex.

ProudExclu · 17/06/2021 01:13

@QuentinBunbury Jesus I’m from Ilkeston and thought that was gonna be about him then.
