www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/exclusive-three-more-women-attacked-by-knife-wielding-suspect-in-east-dulwich/

From the article:

"Today (June 15) a 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Police say they believe she is the only suspect, and had initially been mistaken for a man. "

Who had mistaken her for a man. The police? The victims?

@Clymene I mean. I can get a good amount of pressure up if my bladder is super full. Does that count? Cuz otherwise I’m thinking not.

SchrodingersUnicorn · 18/06/2021 21:11

The Dulwich police twitter link isn't loading. Have they taken it down?

NiceGerbil · 18/06/2021 20:39

When they sneeze!

Maybe if you pee as hard as you can?

The coyness and the word eject certainly seems to be hinting at something...

Clymene · 18/06/2021 20:32

Do women eject bodily fluids? Confused

QuentinBunbury · 18/06/2021 20:26

I’m struggling to picture that. Not sure I want to go and look.
I did earlier. Its nothing weird, just exactly as OP said, a picture of someone androgynous and kinda ageless.
But who knows?

NiceGerbil · 18/06/2021 19:57

They seem to be very coy about the bodily fluids.

Piss?
Shit?
Snot?
Something else?!

WoolOfBat · 18/06/2021 19:48

They have given the persons name now…

It appears the same person has been “ejecting bodily fluids after being arrested previously” 🤮

???

My point is the police are causing a lot of confusion. About a series of serious crimes against women.

And not responding to any questions asking for more info/ is it the right person etc.

Deliriumoftheendless · 18/06/2021 18:38

@NiceGerbil

It's very confusing

Apparently the victims described s young man. I don't know if that's true, what I read did say a man but not young.

They've arrested a 53 year old woman. Is it for the same crimes? Because that's clearly the wrong person. If so then the public needs to be warned surely?

If the things saying the victims reported young is not true. Then they've either got the wrong person (not a man) or they have the right person but are respecting their pronouns. The latter means massive confusion and the public not knowing whether the man is still at large.

It's a mess.

Who was it? Jeanette Krankie?
WokeyCokey · 18/06/2021 18:21

I've read the comments by the first victim on the East Dulwich forum and it is all v curious. She doesn't outright say that she was obviously mistaken in thinking it was a man. But she does say she can't say more about it because of ongoing judicial proceedings.

RickiTarr · 18/06/2021 18:17

@GreenTease

I've been completely baffled by this (I'm a local resident), but actually if you do a quick Facebook search on the arrested person's name, a profile comes up that I can see could be someone who could pass as either a 20-something male or a 50-something female (if you do the search, you'll see what I mean). Obviously no idea if it's the same person, but if it is then I can now see how the confusion has come about (and, whilst I was convinced until that point it was a TIM based on all that's been said, I now don't think it is).
I’m struggling to picture that. Not sure I want to go and look.
NiceGerbil · 18/06/2021 17:47

Or the first victim and the son were both mistaken?

NiceGerbil · 18/06/2021 17:46

@EyesOpening

"I think it would be possible for one person to make this mistake but it sounds like all four victims and eyewitnesses gave similar descriptions so I think it's less likely they are all mistaken."

I have only seen it reported that the first victim (or possibly her child) said it was a man, it feels like someone said that on this thread and now people are taking that as fact

The police have linked the attacks though?

If they've got the woman then there may be another attacker out there?

Or do you mean the first victim got the sex wrong?

@Signalbox

It wouldn't be the first time the press had printed a totally inaccurate report.
it seems to marry up with what has been written on that local forum

You're right, I got the impression it was all the victims and some eyewitnesses from comments, I'd seen, made by people who lived locally. The reporting and police statement about the arrest are certainly very confusing.

You are probably right. I just know I am the sort of person who could get this wrong in a highly stressful situation and especially if they were in very masculine attire with a cap and boyish figure and I wasn't wearing my glasses and they didn't speak. I would be more likely to mistake a female person for a male person than the other way around though.

I really doubt it. When you're attacked you take in not so much looks but the sense of the person. I didn't even see my attacker but what I did convey to police was enough for them to find him within two hours.
Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/06/2021 20:12

I agree with PP, either the perpetrator was male or the police have arrested the wrong person.

The first woman who was attacked seems to believe they have the right person. She didn't say woman, it's all very strange.
