www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/exclusive-three-more-women-attacked-by-knife-wielding-suspect-in-east-dulwich/

From the article:

"Today (June 15) a 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Police say they believe she is the only suspect, and had initially been mistaken for a man. "

Who had mistaken her for a man. The police? The victims?

Isn't waste eliminated? And, breast milk expressed.

If it is t'other, is ejected the same as ejaculated?

toffeebutterpopcorn · 19/06/2021 09:19

Funnily enough in real life the only people I’ve seen with pronouns added - are merely stating the bleeding obvious. I’ve not seen one that I’ve thought ‘oh well I would have got that wrong’.

FannyCann · 19/06/2021 09:13

These days when you read anything - from a Top 100 Women in..., Women’s Prize for..., To ‘woman arrested for... - the first thing you do is look for a photo, to have a ‘look see’.

Yes and when you see pronouns she/her/he/him you still have no idea if the sex of the person.

BSJohnson · 19/06/2021 08:58

^ agree

That’s where we have got to in 2021zzz

NiceGerbil · 19/06/2021 00:23

The issue is that these days there is doubt.

Yes it could have been a woman.

Looking at the response on the police Twitter, the responses saying are you sure it's a woman are pretty much all of them.

This doesn't help men or women.

It means people don't trust the police in what they say.

It's a massively worrying situation created by the police going on self id and recording that.

thymeofmylife · 19/06/2021 00:10

I live locally. One of the victims reported from the start that she was stabbed by a woman (and has since confirmed it was the woman who has been arrested).

Neither breastmilk nor urine are sterile.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 18/06/2021 23:19

@WoolOfBat

I think that breast milk is unlikely to ejected from an obviously violent 53 year old women but I am open to be corrected.
I agree

And this is why this is so horrifically unfair

Just be fucking honest and tell us the truth

NiceGerbil · 18/06/2021 22:49

Breast milk is sterile isn't it?. Like piss.

Not sure why that's important though!

Any bio fluids can carry infection though. Which is different.

SengaMac · 18/06/2021 22:33

It doesn't stay sterile.

geojellyfish · 18/06/2021 22:15

When I search Marie Archer on FB, there is a result (second on my list, but not necessarily the same position on others') that I can imagine might be relevant. Very little detail, but they do like one business page based in Penge, which is the location of the previous incident reported in the 2019 local news article.

@Paralithic

But in this UK case, how likely is it that a 51 year old woman (of the female variety) could “eject” breast milk?
Unlikely I would imagine. I'm trying to be scrupulously fair and not assume the police are lying.

EyesOpening · 18/06/2021 21:42

@Charley50

I thought breast milk was sterile?
this is very odd! "she is alleged to have sprayed breast milk into the face of a female deputy who was supervising her. The officer had to undergo decontamination due to the potential bio-hazard."
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 18/06/2021 21:40

People have lost trust that they are getting the whole truth

This^ It doesn't really matter what sex the attacker is. The police said it was a woman, but people all over are questioning this - not just us transphobes on MN. It's really illustrative how much the police have fucked up when a simple statement like this is doubted by so many.

NiceGerbil · 18/06/2021 21:37

This doubt is detrimental to both men and women, and reduces confidence in the police.

NiceGerbil · 18/06/2021 21:37

I think that when

A victim has said man
The crime is the sort that women very rarely commit

That people think. Hmm. Really?

Yes women commit violent crime. To randomly attack multiple women so severely would be incredibly unusual.

The reason people wonder is because it's established that police forces use self id and have done for years.

People have lost trust that they are getting the whole truth. Especially when it's a series of crimes with bloke stamped all over it.

Charley50 · 18/06/2021 21:37

EyesOpening · 18/06/2021 21:32

@NiceGerbil in the link to the Southwark News, it is reported about the first victim "the unknown man had attacked her out of the blue on Wood Vale and tried to..." and that the first victim refers to her attacker as "him" (it could be that it was her child who referred to the attacker as "he" to her first though). Also on the local forum, the first victim (I'm presuming it is actually her as I have no reason to believe it isn't) is posting about the first attack and saying it was a young man, around 20 - 30, it all marries up with the newspaper article.
It's also reported that "Three more women were violently attacked" but nowhere in that article does it report those three women describing their attacker, and I can't see any other links to reports about these incidents.
Then it says the attacker was originally mistaken for a man.
I think people/someone have/has speculated that the other three victims have described the attacker as a man and it's snowballed and become "fact"

'As I work on the social media team and I need to speak to with the officer in the case to get all the correct information. The person charged was a female"
