I think that given the different context in USA it's a bit simplistic to slate Obama for this.

The US is 99.99% in the tank for the TRA worldview. Obama is just being a good politician and parroting what's popular. Like every other non-rightwinger there. Including Kamala Harris, unfortunately. It's signing your political death warrant to do anything else.

That's lovely, but it's not an argument for letting adults play in children's sports, letting able-bodied people play in Paralympic sports, or letting males play in female sports.

All of those restricted categories are to help more people feel like they belong - giving them a place to compete fairly against others with the same body type.

How can you possibly be in favour of excluding 50% of the population from fair competitive sport? Treating them like second-class citizens because they're different?

Says it all really. Could replace America for the UK. So many people are just a disgrace of prejudice sadly. What is even more sad, is they are so invested in GC thinking, they can no longer see it:

He's very personable and comes across as a nice man, which I am sure he is in a way. And to a lot of university educated middle class people he seems safe and like someone they could hang out with.

But he gets way more credit than he should for being somehow progressive.

.... One thing I have noticed about everyone who speaks up publicly against GC beliefs is that they never have any real answers. How many issues have we raised? Prisons, sports, puberty blockers? And everyone just either ignores them, tells us we are lying....

Why not say something like ' we support these tights but wa t you yo know we are dedivate3to solving some of the issues that self id brings up.....'

Call me biased, but replace 'young people' with young girls / women / females and it scans. Politicians don't think women deserve equal rights.

As an aside, apologies for going a bit off topic, this isn't true. Barack Obama had a nanny when he was a small child who is now transgender. This nanny was employed by Obama's family as a man and always dressed as a man around the family. Barack and Michelle did not hire a transgender nanny for their daughters.
