Wishing her the very best of luck. twitter.com/MForstater/status/1402310977115279362?s=20

I'll be absolutely gutted if the original decision isn't overturned, but at least her case has let a lot of sunlight in.

It's been embargoed? I simply cannot imagine the poker face that must require if she knows (either way)!

Yes, the last judgment at least gave us the quote re belief in sex being 'not worthy of respect'. Oh, and the fury.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/06/2021 21:24

Was this not the case that was put off until next year so they could give it 2-3 weeks in court then?

I need a list off court cases /dates to keep track Blush

@heathspeedwell

Whatever happens Maya has already won. Her bravery in speaking up has led to sunlight on these issues. Without Maya then JK Rowling might not have risked so much to speak out.
Absolutely this. Even if she loses, well, sometimes you lose the battle to win the war.

All the very best of luck, Maya.

@Cwenthryth

Ooh, Johnathon Ross had tweeted her good luck. I didn’t realise he’d come over to the dark side 😁
He did, a year or two ago. Then he tweeted that his daughter was mad at him about it and (my interpretation) wailing YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, DAD! TWAW! So he said he was going to stop talking about it on twitter.

He's hokey cokey - he's been in and retracted on previous occasions.

Oh god I can't cope with this! At least it's only 2 days of nerves. I really really hope it has gone the right way. Good luck maya & team!

eurochick · 08/06/2021 20:40

Good luck Maya!

As someone has mentioned, judgments are often released to the parties a few days in advance of being officially given, under strict embargo, so that any typos or miscalculations can be picked up before it is issued and the parties can be ready to deal with costs or ask for permission to appeal when it is officially handed down. It would be contempt of court to give away the result in advance.

@Whatsnewpussyhat

I hope that for the sanity of discussion in the social arena that the judgment is in her favour

I hope so too, unfortunately we have seen it so many times where it so absurdly goes the other way.

True. My mother would have said, "You can pray for the best but steel yourself for the worst." Yes, that pretty much was as optimistic as she got and I've adopted that.

Oh god. My stomach just dropped when I read this thread title. I bloody hope she's won. It'll be an absolute travesty if not.
Same here!!! This is going to be so nerve wracking.

To be fair, if she loses there will be MILLIONS of people using their freedom of speech to prove that the law is wrong. One could probably make an argument for Maya losing being the quickest path to a return to sanity... but I hope she wins, obviously.

Thank you Maya, 🤞🏻

This. Keeping everything crossed for a good outcome. We're so lucky to have wonderful women like Maya prepared to risk so much.

YourSexNotGenderIsOnFire · 08/06/2021 19:39

Is this court procedure that Maya will already know the outcome?

Yes. It's called an embargoed judgment.

Exactly. It is obviously, about establishing stuff in law. But it's also about shining sunlight on things that people are not yet aware of.

Mollyollydolly · 08/06/2021 19:28

I feel nervous already. Everything cross.

SeaShoreGalore · 08/06/2021 19:27

Hope it goes well!

CardinalLolzy · 08/06/2021 19:27

Maya will know the outcome
Why do you say that?

Anyway, yes, no idea how this will go. Fingers Xd.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 08/06/2021 19:25

@PenguindreamsofDraco

Maya will know the outcome, that's why she is very sensibly staying off SM. Contempt of court to leak a judgment in advance. I got twitchy for Harry the Owl when he was doing his tick tocks, silence is best at this stage! Good luck Maya.

I have my fingers crossed for her.

Datun · 08/06/2021 19:12

Good luck Maya x I still have my radicalised by mumsnet sticker.

OhSister · 08/06/2021 19:05

Maya you are a hero and an inspiration.

Hoping with everything I have for the only sane judgement on Thursday. Wishing you vindication, a sense of pride in what you've achieved (win or lose), and a well earned break from all the stress and drama you've so unjustly had to deal with. Thank you for standing up for yourself, and for all of us and our daughters.
