West Midlands Police getting ratioed on Twitter 🤣

They’ve posted in the last hour asking for comments on women’s safety and how women and girls feel. This from the police force that promotes themselves with a trans police officer grinning manically whilst pointing a taser.

The comments on the thread are priceless!

Ooh look. It's a police force that only provides service to and interacts with people who agree with them that everyone has a gender identity.

Who wants to play 'spot the organisation too compromised to fulfil their core brief any more'?

HeavenHotel · 09/06/2021 12:58

Omfg! Gender!!

They are asking about women's safety then they ask your gender!

I am RAGING

Greenelefant · 09/06/2021 12:49

It's not too late to comment, just use the back buttons and comments earlier on in the survey.

Cailin66 · 09/06/2021 12:11

I filled in the survey. Couldn't believe it at the end when it asked what Gender I was rather than what Sex I was and too late to make a comment about that.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 09/06/2021 12:09

They haven’t really learned have they? I guess this perfectly demonstrates their problem...

senua · 09/06/2021 11:52

Survey completed- there was no option at the end of the survey to comment on the three options for sex. No commentary box
But there is a back-button. I went back and shoe-horned a comment elsewhere.
At the end they say that they are going to ask about "sex, age, ethnicity, disability" and then promptly ask about gender.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 09/06/2021 11:27

They have also taken away sex, they now ask you for your gender and give you male/female/non binary as options.

Dearie me.

sashh · 09/06/2021 08:27

they corrected the fairy typo.

Gah! Tweet now unavailable. Anyone have a link to the survey or is that closed as well?

EishetChayil · 09/06/2021 07:15

@sashh

If it’s a survey about women’s safety, why does it ask if the responder “has a transgender background” ??

What is a transgender background?

Maybe a blurred trans flag as a backdrop for Zoom calls??

HavelockVetinari · 09/06/2021 06:18

Ah I'm gutted I missed the ratio! Never mind, West Midlands Police are so spectacularly ignorant there'll be another one along soon.

cateycloggs · 09/06/2021 05:26

But how safe is a fairy away from the top of her Christmas tree?

sashh · 09/06/2021 04:57

@cateycloggs nope you are still asked if you feel 'fairy safe' I have asked if I should feel like a fairy.

cateycloggs · 09/06/2021 04:49

Did they take it down to correct the typo? I see some people kindly drew attention to it. In fairness it's easily done, I've just corrected three in my post.

sashh · 09/06/2021 04:39

Deleted now - I missed it!

It's back up

cateycloggs · 09/06/2021 04:38

I have gone on a bit here but in summary: I have never felt safe any where, have no expectation of feeling safe, have no reliance on the police to keep me safe, it's a lottery . I never wanted a ticket but here we are.

I completed the survey but I don't think my comments will be taken into account. I basically said I would only feel safe if society was completely overhauled. I don't ever feel safe outdoors as surrounded by street drinkers and drug users and they are unpredictable. Four women were killed in their own homes within half a mile of my home last year not to mention notorious murders slightly further away. So I don't see where the expectation of safety would come from .

Maybe it's my upbringing and life experience as I have always been more or less on edge indoors or out and aware of needing to be on guard in situations when alone with men, eg in a taxi, at work, on holiday, shopping, going out, in shared areas in properties. I have had to live in many dodgy situations, sometimes actually in close proximity to men convicted of violence but never expected the police to be of any help unless an actual violent crime was committed so the damage had been done also.

The men concerned whether bad, deranged, drunk, drugged, thoughtless or whatever are the ones who need to think about what they are doing. Irony intended in case you wonder. That's not going to happen

I would pretty much assume most women old enough to be conscious are aware they are continually walking a tightrope between just trying to live/work/enjoy life on their own terms and trying to avoid or minimise the endless dangers. Doesn't always work obviously.

@TedImgoingmad

Is that taser picture an official police photo? Is it supposed to reassure the public? An officer grinning manically whilst aiming a dangerous weapon is not a good look for any police force, no matter the identity of the person holding it.
The taser picture is of a long-serving West Midlands police officer who was or still is responsible for training in use of tasers. They have also recently fully transitioned to living as female and were given an award earlier this year. I can' t remember if the award had anything to do with having transitioned or was for police work. The picture was in local media along with comments from the officer on how well-supported they had been. Personally I take it all with a large pinch of salt.
Fallingirl · 09/06/2021 01:19

The photo was another tweet that didn’t go down so well, and was quickly deleted.

The West Midlands Police Social Media intern may be a little young and inexperienced.,,

BlackeyedSusan · 08/06/2021 23:51

You can fill it in if you live, work or study in the West Midlands.

DeRigueurMortis · 08/06/2021 21:10

@KittyValentine

The link DeRigueurMortis posted is working for me. Does the first page look like this?

Yes - that's it.
