Gender on School Form

My daughter starts school in September, today we received the enrollment form and on it it has gender instead of sex. My husband has said I will be "that parent" if I cross it out and put sex. He is worried that she will be there for 7 years of primary and they will always remember what we did on the form.

What would you do?

Ours were electronic, so I changed the field to read "sex".

You are unlikely to be the only one - I religiously cross out gender and replace it with sex on every form (incl school, scouts, clubs etc etc) and I know I am not the only one doing it.

I think pick your battles. There are loads and loads of very important issues I believe in, but I can't fight everything. Not enough time/energy/desire to be labelled a nutter. I choose which issue(s) are the top of my list, and fight for those. If this is your issue, go for it.

The only thing is that I presume you are filling this out on behalf of you AND your husband. If so, as you're representing him too, he does maybe need to be on board? Depends on how the form's laid out though.

If it's a paper form I absolutely am 'that parent' and cross it out and write sex.

I would cross it out and put sex, female. I don’t believe in gender but even if you do, I’m presuming your child hasn’t expressed a gender to you, so therefore how can you possibly answer.
That’s my polite answer.

Start as you mean to go on. Cross it out and write sex
