Well done to everyone who helped with the FOIs. Fantastic work, and an impressive article from the Telegraph. It's well worth reading it all. When it's all laid out like that, it's really eye opening.

Undemocratic, corrupt overreach. What a scandal. If you've ever wondered how an extremely niche ideology like the gender identity stuff spread like wildfire among public and private institutions, this is how it's done.

What makes me laugh is I think the Tories have been desperate to get rid of FOIs but this cluster fuck shows exactly why it's needed. 😁

Even when you have been frustrated by this nonsense for years, it’s still chilling to read it so clearly laid out. How can you not ask how did we get here ?

I think an obvious answer is sexism and lack of older women in senior positions in the work place.

Who wants to be the difficult woman speaking up about women’s rights?

We all know that women are punished for speaking out on this issue, but it’s not as though it’s ever been easy to make a stand on any women’s rights issue.

I think it’s easy to get policies waived through if a board is controlled by men who really don’t think ‘women’s issues’ are their problem and a minority of women who know they would take a personal hit if they made a fuss or suggested that women need specific services and policies. Glitter is so much cheaper.

Wow. So now we know. An out-and-out war on sex — from a charity that was founded to represent the needs of same-sex-attracted people. How can Stonewall continue as a charity now that it's been exposed to be actively working against its core clientele?

FindTheTruth · 04/06/2021 08:42

We live in interesting times. The rising surge of clarity across media and public bodies around Stonewall law, in glaring sunlight before the Tsunami in blinding light. bring on the public enquiry

Whatwouldscullydo · 04/06/2021 08:41

Oh wow. Its all there isn't it.

LizzieSiddal · 04/06/2021 08:33

It really is alarming how powerful they have become.
With the intervention of Liz Truss this week, and now this article, how can any business renew their membership of this disgraceful and lawbreaking “charity”.

AlfonsoTheMango · 04/06/2021 08:33

It's sophisticated MLM.

And good for the Telegraph for the investigative work.

AfternoonToffee · 04/06/2021 08:31

Wow, that article certainly doesn't hold back.

PurpleWh1teGreen · 04/06/2021 08:30

Whenever there is a public enquiry into a scandal, people always ask why no one stopped it. Why did no one speak up sooner about Jimmy Saville, Stuart Hall, Gary Glitter, Rolf Harries and others?

Why are the consequences for the people - mostly women - who do speak up about safeguarding so severe?

And why oh why must international women’s day have to celebrate Transwomen to meet some stonewall defined diversity culture when that is the very opposite of inclusive?

merrymouse · 04/06/2021 08:27

The origin is Latin, to nourish.

But that is a synonym for ‘feed’. Bit of a tangent but I was also asked ‘are you feeding the baby yourself’ as though somehow somebody else would be feeding him if I used formula.

NonnyMouse1337 · 04/06/2021 08:27

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

That is a great article.

I like how they got in about orgs being encouraged to celebrate TW on IWD Hmm

Aye, that left me furious. Angry

Thank you Op for the link. I find it a terrifying read. It's bad enough that the women's rights have been up for grabs but Stonewall is now fully political and that is even more scary.

In 2019 there was very little, the uphill road was a long long climb. Look how far we've come. It's raining here in the south but the sunlight is blinding Grin

I think the Times has something else in the offing. eyes peeled

TedImgoingmad · 04/06/2021 08:20

@NonnyMouse1337 thank you. When It's all laid out like that in one article....it's like the reading of charges at a trial.

Who, within govt departments, makes/made the decision to sign up to the training and signs off on the cheques to Stonewall?

FannyCann · 04/06/2021 08:20

The FOI campaign is fantastic. Such a simple idea that has exposed what is going on.

It's been a brilliant campaign and I've gone from not understanding how to do an FOI to loving the WhatDoTheyKnow website.

I keep thinking I should send some more tangible support their way. I've done a lot of digging this month and as soon as a certain crowdfunder is up will be digging deeper. But I'll try to remember WDTK next month. They deserve it, it's such an easy website to use and a really important one. Star

LizzieSiddal · 04/06/2021 08:19

I want to know the actual individuals is who came up with these Stonewall policies,

Who the fuck are they????

RickiTarr · 04/06/2021 08:17

Paying people to lobby you is a new and impressive development,” Ms Jones told The Telegraph."

Quite. I hope university politics lecturers will be teaching this soon.

NecessaryScene · 04/06/2021 08:14

Add gender pronouns to all email signatures

remove gender markers and titles from your systems altogether

Hmm
ShagMeRiggins · 04/06/2021 08:11

I’m not that bothered about nursing in the sense of breastfeeding. It may no longer be commonly used in the UK but did originate in Britain and has a long history of being used in that sense. Eg wet-nurse. The origin is Latin, to nourish.

That aside, interesting article.

merrymouse · 04/06/2021 08:10

Where does 'parent who has given birth' leave mothers who have adopted?

I suspect this is linked specifically to maternity rights.

Some parental rights are not sex specific.

Also, In fairness ‘father’ often doesn’t correctly describe the parent who didn’t give birth.

However, I think that by euphemistically pretending that anyone could give birth, organisations hide the fact that maternity policies have such a fundamental long term impact on sexual equality in the work place.

gogglefeet · 04/06/2021 08:04

They are disseminating an ideology by stealth there is something really rather sinister about it. It is very odd to find myself nodding along to something written in the telegraph.

WinterTrees · 04/06/2021 08:02

And Dawn Butler's poll was before this article. I wonder how many of the 30% who trusted Stonewall more than Liz Truss would give the same answer after reading this.

BaklavaBalaclava · 04/06/2021 08:00

Where does 'parent who has given birth' leave mothers who have adopted? Or indeed a lesbian couples child? Surely stonewall should be aware of the impact of this language on people other than the small number of ' people who have given birth who identify as male

Don't it also function (again) to reduce women to biological function, implying (again) that caregiving is inherently linked to having a womb....

UppityPuppity · 04/06/2021 07:53

How to we push to get all of this bullshit reversed?

All these organisations need to have SW influence, policy and terminology excised.

merrymouse · 04/06/2021 07:51

“Are you nursing him yourself”

“Um yes, we sometimes use Calpol”.

Confused
DodoPatrol · 04/06/2021 07:50

There’s a whole professional journal called Nursing Times. It’s not about breastfeeding.

FindTheTruth · 04/06/2021 07:49

‘Make it easy to know who to discriminate against even by email’

hostile environment. It's like Glinner said, the email pronouns have a political context of removing women's rights, putting male rapists in female prisons, removing female sports, removing LGB rights and so on.
