Organisations Leaving Stonewall: The List

Barracker · 29/05/2021 19:50

Thought it would be handy to keep a running list here of organisations who have done 'budget reviews' or similar and have subsequently decided that Stonewall are 'not value for money'.

EHRC
ACAS
House of Commons
DVLA
Dorset Police
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government

Do feel free to update the thread as more join the exodus.

Is there a current list of schools and education orgs that belong to - and that have left Stonewall? A customer list if you will?

Would like to write to my school re their intentions now that Ofsted have ditched them. Our school’s website say they are ‘Bronze level’

Without mumsnet I’d never have noticed ‘Stonewall’ on their letterhead.

Neither the school’s website nor Stonewall’s website appear to say what that Bronze level actually means… Hmm

It does say elsewhere that for school trips with transgirls overnight stays in rooms with girls - the situation will be ‘risk assessed’ and ‘parents’ will be consulted. Presumably not the parents of any girls sleeping in the same room as a transgirl/s.

How many schools are in the expensive thrall of Stonewall?

DoMs post is nonsensical, irrelevant, doesn’t make any clear points, and is nothing to do with the subject matter.

Still, it’s by far the best post DoM has ever made.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/11/2021 17:58

Are you on the wrong thread, DoM?

StandUpStraight · 10/11/2021 15:08

DofM making even less sense than usual…

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 10/11/2021 14:54

What on earth is that about, DoM?

DisgustedofManchester · 10/11/2021 14:22

Let me see if I can see a link with a corrupt goverment thats screwing the country amid waves of corruption and incompetence? Weird how pre 2019 no one had any issues isn't it? The good thing is that I can never be seen to be in the same foxhole as that lot. Anti european racist homophobic leader and all.

The BBC!!

Is there a list of organisations in the WEI?

Only the ones that rank in the top 100 and end up in Stonewall's yearly WEI report.

The other 400+ organisations don't publicise that they didn't make the top 100.

FOI requests would reveal the submissions for public bodies though (some have already been made public that way).

Isthatthebestyoucando · 07/11/2021 17:11

Is there a list of organisations in the WEI?

FindTheTruth · 07/11/2021 17:05

the real scandal is the Workplace Equality Index

YUP. any organisation still in the WEI hasn't left Stonewall

LonginesPrime · 07/11/2021 15:23

I remember something from the Nolan podcast where one of the organisations (Ofcom?) said that they were leaving the champions scheme, but still remained with Stonewall in other ways or something. Very bait and switch.

Exactly - it's the Workplace Equality Index that places pressure on organisations to change policies and push out gender initiatives, not so much the Champions programme (which they can take advice from or not, as they're the paying clients).

It's the Workplace Equality Index that captures organisations, as it pressures them to please Stonewall as Stonewall is the one judging them based on its own made-up criteria.

Organisations won't get ranked if they don't make Stonewall happy, and they worry about being seen as transphobic (given that even thinking GC thoughts is transphobic to stonewall) if they are deemed unworthy by Stonewall.

Obviously the Champions scheme isn't great, but the real scandal is the Workplace Equality Index, IMO.

@highame

I read, last year, that one of the government departments had left Stonewall, but when a bit more digging was done, it was found that they had just moved the stuff to another department and were continuing following the advice. I really can't remember where I read this (referring to CPS part of the thread). I think you'll find this is common because the capture of the public services and civil service by the 'top brass' is unbelievable. Lets appease the dumb women, they'll never notice, seems like a suitable logo for these departments
Yes, I would be wary of this happening also. I remember something from the Nolan podcast where one of the organisations (Ofcom?) said that they were leaving the champions scheme, but still remained with Stonewall in other ways or something. Very bait and switch.

It's all about saving face for them really.

Thanks findthetruth

There is a copy on one of the archive sites for those without access.

The other departments are:

After the Department of Health last week became the last high-profile public body to distance itself from the lobby group, The Telegraph has learned that several more are now considering their position.
^
They include the Treasury, the Department for Education (DfE) and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), while insiders at the Department for International Trade said it had quietly declined to renew its subscription.^

It is understood that Therese Coffey, the Work and Pensions Secretary, is now considering alternatives to Stonewall, while sources said that Nadhim Zahawi, the Education Secretary, is alive to the concerns being raised about the charity.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport is preparing to renew its membership of Stonewall’s diversity champions scheme for another 12 months, but will no longer accept its legal advice.

Good news about Lancashire Police Grin

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 28/09/2021 19:14

“Stonewall- Does not provide value for money” it’s quite a catchy tagline

Stonewall != VFM - just to sound science-y.

Stonewall is an MLM. A very small number of people are making a fortune. Countless people are accruing harm. (I've never claimed to be an advertising copy-writer.)

TooWicked · 28/09/2021 19:03

Lancashire Police, confirmed by the PCC

@TooWicked

Lancashire Police have confirmed they’re parting company with Stonewall.
Good. It would be good to have a source for completeness within the thread.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 13/09/2021 15:14

Yep! I just came here to add that.

I was so excited I even started a thread - cos the confirmation is a bit thin on the gorund at the moment - I heard it on Radio2 news and have since seen a John McManus' Twitter confirnmation!!

OvaHere · 13/09/2021 13:44

About time. They should have left when it became apparent that a schoolgirl felt she had no choice but to initiate legal action because they were misrepresenting legislation.

An interesting development compared to how things were developing at the start of the year:
