Young, Male and Anti-Feminist – The Gen Z Boys Who Hate Women

Sorry it's Vice, but possibly worth discussing: www.vice.com/en/article/dyv7by/anti-feminist-gen-z-boys-who-hate-women

Half of young men in the UK now believe that feminism has “gone too far and makes it harder for men to succeed”. These are the results of a significant study published in July 2020 by anti-extremism charity HOPE not Hate. The study, Young People in the Time of COVID-19, surveyed 2,076 16- to 24-year-olds on their ideological beliefs.

I highly suggest all the women here stop interacting with tritemale

He has done what has become a running joke among feminists due to its commoness: turned a discussion about feminism into a discussion about men's rights. It is always deliberate when they do this, please, see this for what it is.

Men as a class are not oppressed, all of us here know that. Please don't spend your precious time defending feminism to men who are comitted to misunderstanding and derailing it. Keep the focus on women and girls.

@TeaAndStrumpets

Well I found your comments interesting tritemale, thanks for your contribution.
I second this 😊
PleasantBirthday · 01/06/2021 12:09

Exactly. Women - I'd like a fair shot at making a safe, secure life for myself. Men - that doesn't seem to prioritise me getting sex.

WeeBisom · 01/06/2021 12:00

@PleasantBirthday: women’s concerns are - we would like to stop being raped, sexually assaulted, abused and murdered. Men’s concerns: it’s not fair that hot men get young hot female partners.

PleasantBirthday · 01/06/2021 11:40

It is very unsurprising to me that a male poster is mainly concerned with the likelihood of getting sex (or "attracting a partner" if we're being nice) based on feminism.

Women have an existence outside sexual utility to men - it's literally one of the key points of feminism.

QuentinBunbury · 01/06/2021 07:42

But you know, this just proves the point that men are being put off feminism by inaccurate Internet memes created by various mens rights/incel groups.

Have also been reading "men who hate women" and I'd highly recommend you do too trite. You might be surprised to find who's actually influencing you

QuentinBunbury · 01/06/2021 07:40

Just in case anyone wants to know more about the "protest" aka open letter that caused York Uni to cancel it's IMD event

www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/student/news/university-york-cancels-international-men-s-day-plans-after-students-and-staff-protest-dr-adrian-lee-s-controversial-comments-a6737406.html%3famp

CokeDrinker · 01/06/2021 06:42

@TriteMale

However, what you may not completely understand is that for many women, IMD is predominantly used as a jibe on IWD, over and over and over again, to the point it actually became a trope that the comedian Richard Herring used to spend the whole of IWD tweeting “19 November” to the literally dozens and dozens and dozens of men who would inevitably ask, year after year, “so when’s IMD?”

I didn't know this and can imagine it would be frustrating. However, I still can't comprehend why people would protest the event once it had been booked and was in the process of being organised - i.e. was actually going to come to fruition rather than just being something thrown around in arguments. But I guess most of the protesters were students and I'm not particularly convinced of the analytical abilities of many students nowadays after the whole trans debate (likely more linked to their age and group [sheep] mentality rather than the fact they call themselves feminists). I doubt they are very close in ideology to most of the feminists of here once you get past the bits most feminists agree on universally like the pay gap needing fixed etc

@TriteMale However, I still can't comprehend why people would protest the event once it had been booked

How could they protest something that they hadn't even been aware of? Obviously the event became public knowledge because it was booked. Hence, the protest.

CokeDrinker · 01/06/2021 06:35

@TriteMale

So she didn't say what you posted at all then..

'The suggestion that we should ignore the leading cause of death of young men due to the actions of a small percentage of men.''

Suggesting that women should try and actively stop men holding events to discuss male suicide is kind of saying this.

@TriteMale Er, no, it is not 'kind of', in fact it's not even remotely like that. Hold a day to discuss male suicide - fine. Having an International Mens Day - not fine.
CokeDrinker · 01/06/2021 06:32

@TriteMale

Which poster was that? Which date time etc?

The one I quoted further up this page who said:

"You are insinuating that feminists were wrong to shut IMD down - you don't seem to understand how deeply offensive the suggestion of an IMD even is, or why it is deeply offensive."

I just don't see what feminists gain from actively trying to stop men talking about male suicide, encouraging each other to share their feelings, and prioritising healthy role models for young men.

@TriteMale Again, you are being deliberately deceitful. No one has problem with men talking about male suicide. That is completely different to IMD.
CokeDrinker · 01/06/2021 06:30

@TriteMale

The suggestion that we should ignore the leading cause of death of young men due to the actions of a small percentage of men.''

Who has said that?

The poster upthread who suggested that a day to talk about male suicide was "deeply offensive" as would be any criticism of trying to shut it down.

Mate, if men liked feminism then we'd be doing it wrong.

I disagree. For most men, a woman (their wife/partner) is their most cherished human in the whole world and somebody they would happily give their life to save. Same for women. It may be a cheesy term but some women too about their 'bae' (before any other).

The vast majority of men and women want to get on with the opposite sex and want their loved ones to succeed and live fulfilled lives.

@TriteMale Quote me RIGHT, if you are going to quote me. I said INTERNATIONAL MEN'S DAY, is deeply offensive. Not a day to talk about male suicide. Two entirely different things.
CokeDrinker · 01/06/2021 06:27

@TriteMale Your post about suicide is the exact type of self-absorbed misogynistic rubbish that forces women to go more radical into feminism. You talk like WOMEN don't commit suicide, either? Like only men commit suicide. Women DIE because men bash them to death, or because they commit suicide. You don't have the corner of the market on suicides, so how dare you make suicide a male-only topic?

You, are exactly the toxic and belligerent chauvinist that causes women to be feminists. You are your own worst enemy. You can't even see it.

I'm more interested in tackling sexual violence globally than the pay gap tbh although that matters too.

EG recent reports of sexual assaults and rape in schools and it not being dealt with (or prevented).

NiceGerbil · 01/06/2021 02:11

Have you looked at what actually happened with the one incidence of cancellation that I assume you're referring to? I'm guessing not. It's quite interesting.

As I mentioned though, you don't need a special day to act. You can help at any time.

What are your thoughts on the charities I mentioned? Do you think their approach is right? Are some better than others? Are there things they are missing? What do you think needs to be done to tackle the problem?
