thestrayferret.co.uk/harrogate-paedophile-jailed-for-22-years-for-86-sex-attacks/

At least they haven't got a GRC, so 🤞will not be sent to a womens prison. Or is that a vain hope?

Hope the brave victims find some peace after the conviction 💐

It's also the only place it's been reported.

At least the reporting guidelines seem to be changing. Mostly was self id before irrespective of GRC.
I wouldn’t read too much into how this has been reported here - it’s a fairly new, small, online free sheet so if they’re not adhering to normal journalistic standards, I’d suspect it’s because they’re not journalists, rather than anything more deliberate or considered.

I wonder why he only remembers a few years back. I would not be surprised if this is when he 'transitioned' and he claimed he had no memory of before and in fact what he did 'before' wasn't actually him.

Mowzy · 17/05/2021 20:47

Disgusting man. That is not a woman. It's a male paedophile.

NiceGerbil · 17/05/2021 20:46

The lack of concern for the levels of violence and sexual violence in the male estate really bothers me.

This is an LBTQ+ issue isn't it. I would guess that gay men or men who other men perceive to be gay could well be at risk in men's prisons. What about them stonewall and the others?

Why are they not fighting to make prison safer for gender non conforming, non binary and gay men?

This comes up over and over again.

It's always about forcing women to accept some males in their previously single sex stuff and safety is usually the reason cited.

What about the other LGBT+ males?

Why do they NEVER fight for solutions which would help trans people, and also homosexual people, and also loads of other people as well?

Why don't they care about any of the other letters apart from T (and TW at that).

BruteForce · 17/05/2021 20:40

Need to mingle?

He lost all his 'rights' when he first committed crimes against girls AFAIK.

How anyone would even think of leaving a rapist mingle with women is beyond my comprehension.

As a survivor I KNOW those girls will never forget.

Tibtom · 17/05/2021 20:35

But according to some this person couldn't possibly actually be trans because true transwomen wouldn't do that, but they should still be housed in a female prison and men would never pretend to be trans.

NiceGerbil · 17/05/2021 20:28

Another one where abuse could have been stopped years ago but police weren't interested. Meaning years more of children being sexually abused.

At least the reporting guidelines seem to be changing. Mostly was self id before irrespective of GRC.

This prisoner could go to the new wing that was talked about the other day? Where they are to high risk to go in with the women all the time. But do need to mingle with them for reasons of... Not sure on those.

Defaultname · 17/05/2021 20:22

Got there before me, AR. It's like saying "None of the murderer's victims has ever complained...".

Defaultname · 17/05/2021 20:20

"Gillian Batts, for Brennan, said her client, who had been remanded in jail since the trial, had no previous convictions."
Wouldn't that be because. um, none of the allegations made by the victims were listened to? The fact that your client got away with abuse for twenty years isn't, surely, something you'd emphasise?

AyeRobot · 17/05/2021 20:19

"no previous convictions" BECAUSE ONE OF THE VICTIMS WAS BRUSHED OFF.

ANewCreation · 17/05/2021 20:08

From the article:

“This has affected my family. Anything that this evil man gets (in terms of punishment) won’t be enough for what he’s done to me and my family.”

And yet, will the judge have followed the guidance in the Equal treatment bench book and insisted that the female victims refer to "this evil man" as 'she'?

RedDogsBeg · 17/05/2021 20:02

Yeah, never happens and when it does it doesn't and you can barely allude to and definitely not talk or discuss the one glaring commonality of these cases.

Erikrie · 17/05/2021 20:01

If this person has no GRC why on earth is he being referred to as she... And rape is a male crime.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/05/2021 19:55

Yes,it’s the same old patriarchy (girls being ignored and disbelieved when they report abuse) combined with the new (the abuse being recorded as the crime of a woman).

WarriorN · 17/05/2021 19:51

Ugh, my god. That's terrible, those poor girls.

persistentwoman · 17/05/2021 19:50

Awful. And presumably all these terrible offences against children will be recorded (yet again) as being perpetrated by a woman.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/05/2021 19:46

So sad that one of the victims reported this 20 years ago and was brushed off. :(
