British Kickboxing has fallen

Well, it looks as though BKC (British Kickboxing Council) are to allow trans athletes to compete in their chosen category. There is thankfully a lot of kickback against this on their twitter feed.

Serious injury to a number of women is the guaranteed outcome to forcing normal women to be put in a position where a man can beat the shit out of them in the name of being kind.
This is not inclusion it is normalising assault by transwomen on women & calling it a sport.

If a transwoman gets a medal in any womens sports, I don't know anyone who actually thinks it counts for shit anyway.
We all just call the highest placed actual woman the winner who has had her medal stolen by a man.

I have belts in my chosen martial art.
Some of the lowest belts who are male have far greater reach than I do & pack more power behind their moves already even if they haven't learned how to really focus it into the moves yet.

I'd give up if a transwoman joined the club & I certainly wouldn't pay for my sons membership there either because he doesn't need to learn that there are people masquerading as women who can take a punch the way a man can.

He needs to know you can't hit women as hard as men & that women are more fragile than men.
He can't learn that with transwomen trying to say they are the same.

@frumpety

It would be interesting to hear from male kickboxers and how they feel about their daughters/girlfriends/wives fighting against trans women.
I know what black belt DH thinks and it's unrepeatable.

Naunet · 11/05/2021 20:10

Male desires are more important than women’s lives. It’s sickening.

GoingThruTheMotions · 11/05/2021 20:09

Whilst that wasn't the worst debate I have ever seen the GC argument wasn't particularly strong.
You're meant to have the best and most knowledgeable representative in debates like this or what bis the point? I know they tried their best but most of fwr could put a stronger message together.
It was particularly frustrating that the 'some women are tall' argument was pulled out. The stats exist to put that to bed pretty firmly.

Sophoclesthefox · 11/05/2021 20:08

What could possibly go wrong by enabling someone in possession of a male body to compete against female bodied people in a sport that involves kicking and punching?

And what sort of male bodied person would feel remotely comfortable doing this?

Wake up British Kickboxing Council. Wake up before a woman gets killed.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/05/2021 20:05

Tweet is still there.

WhereAreWeNow · 11/05/2021 20:02

Jesus! How can anyone think that's a good idea?!

persistentwoman · 11/05/2021 19:47

Have they deleted that tweet? Perhaps an adult has entered the room at Kickboxing HQ?

frumpety · 11/05/2021 19:46

Dear God men really hate us don't they

Not all men no.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 11/05/2021 19:28

Why do they always spout the bollocks that 'access to sport is a fundamental human right'.

No is fucking isn't, and certainly not a human right for adult makes to take part in female sports when there is NOTHING stopping them competing with their own sex.

minsmum · 11/05/2021 19:17

Dear God men really hate us don't they

Erikrie · 11/05/2021 19:10

Well at least India kept pushing that it wasn't right for transwomen to be in women's sport.

frumpety · 11/05/2021 19:07

suspect the risk will be dumped on to the paricipants

Which leads female competitors in contact sports having to ask their opponents if they were born a different sex and making a decision on whether to participate based on that answer. Otherwise it could invalidate their insurance ? So women will be the bad guys again ?

SunsetBeetch · 11/05/2021 18:44

This is so dangerous Sad Are they mad?

PennineSpring · 11/05/2021 18:36

Here’s Mermaids trans sport inclusion officer Verity Smith (unbelievably) defending Fallon Fox. I don’t understand how you can sit there and defend that sort of injury, even if your wage does depends on it

Erikrie · 11/05/2021 18:27

Surely insurance cover is still provided based on risk, no insurance company would want to pay out millions for something entirely avoidable.

Suspect the risk will be dumped on to the participants. There will be a get out clause somewhere.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 11/05/2021 18:23

So long as this isn't the kind of sport where limb length, strength, pelvic stability & q-angle make a difference it will be fine... oh wait Angry

I don't understand how these sporting bodies can throw women under the bus like this; the science is clear so this must just be religious belief.
I do blame the bastarding Olympic committee though - if they had stood firm there would have been good financial reason for sporting bodies to retain women's sport.

PronounssheRa · 11/05/2021 18:21

@Procrastinator3

Insurance companies are captured.

The companies might say all the right things for PR, but I suspect the underwriters take a more fact based approach

Procrastinator3 · 11/05/2021 18:15

Insurance companies are captured.

frumpety · 11/05/2021 18:13

I wonder how insurance providers are going to respond, specifically in contact sports and how this will impact people who compete in these sports ?

Truthlikeness · 11/05/2021 18:10

@toffeebutterpopcorn

Well DS just sauntered in and said that he got roped into playing baseball with the girls as there wasn’t enough girls for a team, so each team press ganged a boy.

He said that he walloped the ball harder and further than any of his teammates and managed to get the balls into the car park.

I did comment ‘I wonder why that was?’

I play official mixed softball and the women hit a smaller, lighter ball (it's changed for each player). We still hit it nowhere near as far as the men.
BettyFilous · 11/05/2021 17:25

Awful, especially in light of the recent studies showing female sportswomen’s increased concussion risk. None of these organisations are fit to call themselves sporting bodies.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 11/05/2021 17:20

@CuriousaboutSamphire

Oh! Well, I'll be ending back my membership and and that'll be the end of 30 years of training and teaching kickboxing based exercise classes, not competing, for me!

I have both single sex and mixed classes but have my own rules about glove work. This would make that impossible!

Or maybe I'll wait for the inevitable request... and make a fuss about it then!

OMG! I may have found the hill I am willing to die on!

My association does this and they lose me, my fees and all the commitment to peer-support I have ever put in as a participant and as a parent supporting the association.

Let's see how much the Fallon Foxes of this world put into mentoring lower grade belts, eh?

Fromage · 11/05/2021 17:02

I think the only way to sort this shit out is for all young women and girls to ditch a potential career as an athlete for one as a politician. Then maybe the next generation of sportwomen will have a safe career.

God it's all just so fucking dreadful, isn't it.
