British Kickboxing has fallen

Well, it looks as though BKC (British Kickboxing Council) are to allow trans athletes to compete in their chosen category. There is thankfully a lot of kickback against this on their twitter feed.

If you used the word fo the very top of a mountain, Maxine - Played Twinkle in Dinner Ladies- surname then, because this is in FWR it has become a naughty word!

I REALLY cannot remember why, but 'someone' was upset by it and lo! Another word women cannot use here, another silent brick in the wall!

I remain yours - TERF, die in a grease fire, suck my lady dick, cis woman!

justaftb · 12/05/2021 14:41

Is there a list of words that are banned on MN? One of my posts on this thread has been deleted and I can't fathom why.

Is there a definitive list of banned words/phrases for this site? One of my posts on this thread was deleted and I can't fathom why.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 12/05/2021 13:55

It’s not fair for either sex - girls risk injury and the boys will feel that they ought to ‘go easy’ on either a trans boy or trans girl (should they be based on sex).

Iheartmysmart · 12/05/2021 13:48

DS goes kickboxing and they’ve been discussing this after classes. Every single male member of his club is absolutely horrified. I’m going to ask him if they have any plans to oppose this officially.

justaftb · 12/05/2021 13:28

Meant to add that male kickboxers need to be voicing opposition to this.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 12/05/2021 13:27

Wolf... Fox... I’m seeing a trend there (isn’t there a non-fighting Owl too).

I’d be squirrel myself. Or ferret - ‘the mighty fighty ferret’.

Interesting blog about Tara Wolf https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/undertheropes.com/2020/02/02/british-trans-fighter-tara-wolf-has-first-fight-under-tutelage-of-nong-toom/amp/

When asked how she feels about having to fight men, Tara says “I do think it’s unfair, but if I have to do it, I might as well use it to my advantage and get noticed”. She also adds that she’s doubtful she’ll ever be able to go pro, at least in the UK. Instead, she plans to “have an amateur career fighting women in the UK and then fight men in Thailand”. She explains that trans women can get sanctioned fights against cis women in the UK with certain associations. That includes the British Kickboxing Council, which told her that it follows the IOC guideliness_, requiring athletes to have had testosterone levels under 10 nmol/L for at least 12 months prior to competition.

**

After a physical altercation with a 60-year-old ‘trans-exclusionary radical feminist’’_ who was filming her and other protesters, Tara was taken to court and charged with assault. She was vilified by the media as a ‘trans-identified male’, a ‘granny basher’ and a ‘violent misogynist’. The trial and media coverage sparked a wave of transphobic harassment, and she cites this as the cause of her subsequent drug addiction. “They tried to ruin my life, and in trying to cope with it all, I developed a speed problem”, she said.

I can also assume that in such an event - a woman getting her head bashed in would be politely clapped, whilst Fox would get a lot of sympathy and an award for being inspiring. The perceptions seem a bit unusual.

MrsBunHat · 12/05/2021 12:40

And that's also why things for women are approved and OK only if they are also for males "being" women. Who can then of course take over in many cases, and things like sports for "women" will just be for male "women". But that's OK because of that general deep acceptance that women just have to lump it and men's natural position is superior.

Many many woke people would deny that they think that, but show it in their behaviour all the time.

MrsBunHat · 12/05/2021 12:36

Why doesn't everyone see that? Or do they and they're also taking pleasure in what lies ahead because they also hate women (even if on a subconscious level)? I genuinely can't tell.

I wonder about this too. I don't think most TWAW advocates/trans allies consciously think hurting women is a great thing. But it feels as if when an idea or ideology comes along, if it shits on women it will embed itself more easily with people, without them necessarily seeing that. And it seems quite easy for people who really do have bad intentions against women (such as convicted rapists, or misogynists who just enjoy hurting women), to use it to their advantage and people will let that through.

I think at some level people (including many women) think it's "only" women suffering, not some actual oppressed group in need of special attention. And the feeling women don't really matter that much is ingrained in society and in us all.

And because society feel like this about women, standing up for women's rights gets you labelled aggressive, unkind, TERF etc whereas standing up fo the "approved" oppressed groups is a way to virtue-signal. (I know some people don't like that term but I 100% see it going on)

FreyaFolkvangr · 12/05/2021 12:10

I can't get my head around these bits of news. It never quite all joins together in my brain when I try and process these kinds of things.

The people who have made this decision look at this issue and see trans women as being fragile, vulnerable and as needing centring because of being both those things?

I look at this as someone who has never done kickboxing and my immediate instinct is that there are men out there who will be delighted to get the opportunity to kick the shit out of women in this very legitimate, public way, while woke people cheer them on and tell them they are so brave. This will bring them glee.

Why doesn't everyone see that? Or do they and they're also taking pleasure in what lies ahead because they also hate women (even if on a subconscious level)? I genuinely can't tell.

[quote andyoldlabour]"Tara Wolf does kickboxing don't they? We already know Tara has no compunction about beating up women."

Strange how they seem to gravitate to places where they can be violent to women.

So a poster girl for trans women kickboxing in the U.K. is someone who assaulted a 61 year old feminist in Hyde Park? This is pure MRA territory.

(who was it that said they enjoyed being catcalled and getting unwanted attention as a woman?)

Paris Lees.

huuskymam · 11/05/2021 22:23

The only way this will stop is when female athletes protest by refusing to compete against transwomen. Sporting associations will let this continue until someone is killed.

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/05/2021 22:14

I've done two mixed sex groups. Both great but was was heavily male and the other heavily female. Men were never allowed to full contact spar with us in either.

GoingThruTheMotions · 11/05/2021 21:59

Oh yeah, I see what you mean. For some reason I thought they would be in the same place but split (never tried kick boxing, only boxing fitness circuits, wish I had now though).

Snugglepumpkin · 11/05/2021 21:49

@GoingThruTheMotions

I agree, but the decent ones don't join womens kickboxing groups.

GoingThruTheMotions · 11/05/2021 21:03

To be fair snuggle it's not all transwomen who think that. Some know they are really biological men and are as horrified as us.

LostToucan · 11/05/2021 20:48

Why do they always spout the bollocks that 'access to sport is a fundamental human right'.

It’s part of the IOC Charter ... although for some reason it’s rarely quoted in full:

The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practising sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.
