British Kickboxing has fallen

Well, it looks as though BKC (British Kickboxing Council) are to allow trans athletes to compete in their chosen category. There is thankfully a lot of kickback against this on their twitter feed.

Erikrie, does that mean the woman whose skull was fractured would only have realised her opponent had gone through a male puberty and physical maturity when they met in the ring and she saw the male frame, musculature and bone length?!

I guess all any woman could do is concede without fighting. Perhaps that is the best response. Women remain unharmed, transwomen can fight each other and the women could set up their own league and award their own trophies, etc.

When the current crazy phase is over - hopefully without any deaths or life-changing injuries - things can go back to normal.

If phobia just meant fear, not an irrational fear, I would say wise women kickboxers ought to be transphobic, but terrified would be the more accurate term.

I would never want to see anyone excluded from the sport they love, but weight, age and sex classes are there for good reasons. Nobody would prevent transwomen fighting others who, like them, went through a male puberty with all its physical benefits.

There is no requirement for women to offer themselves up as lambs to the slaughter.

God I didn’t know Fallon Fox didn’t tell their opponent 😱 That is vile abuse.

Erikrie · 13/05/2021 06:51

I think the only answer that will avoid brain injuries and deaths is for the women to refuse every match with a trans fighter and leave them to kick the wotsit out of each other. That seems fair.

As long as the woman is aware. Fallon fox didn't disclose their trans status when injuring a woman so badly that it ended her career.

Dozer · 13/05/2021 06:45

Yes, where are the men, kickboxers and others?

Then where are the 'not all men' while this is going on? Why aren't they out there telling these crazies where they can put it?

IKR?! 🤔

Alicethruthelookingglass · 12/05/2021 22:26

Not all men no.

Then where are the 'not all men' while this is going on? Why aren't they out there telling these crazies where they can put it? Bueller? Bueller? It doesn't hurt them and they don't care.

I guess apathy is not the same as hate. But it will lead to the same thing for women in the end.

With a few exceptions like G Linehan, I'm beginning to think that 99.9% of the NAMALT Nigels are spineless jerks who only think of things in terms of their own comfort and safety.

The person Tweeting that is the mother of the transwoman cyclist Emily Bridges

Tells us all we need to know.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/05/2021 19:56

No-one is denying trans women ‘access to sport’ - they are still more than welcome to compete against all the other biological males.

They have a right to sport - but it doesn’t trump female athletes’ right to safety, or their right to fair competition.

Sexnotgender · 12/05/2021 19:48

What “vile abuse”?

persistentwoman · 12/05/2021 19:46

Being concerned about women's safety in a sport like kickboxing and right to access single sex sport is vile abuse? Honestly, the hyperbole and silencing of women never stops.

HecatesCatsInFancyHats · 12/05/2021 19:35

I'd be interested to know what their "Trans inclusion in Kickboxing project" involves if they're not looking at allowing trans women to compete as the sex they identify with? Now is definitely the time to be pointing out how dangerous that would be.

NiceGerbil · 12/05/2021 19:30

Is it official? I've looked on their site and can't find anything but admittedly I'm not quite sure where it would be.

Their tweet doesn't actually say this is what they've decided, unless I'm missing something?

HecatesCatsInFancyHats · 12/05/2021 19:30

Why is being deeply concerned about the danger to women posed by allowing trans women to compete against them in kickboxing (ffs) vile abuse? How is pointing out that a trans woman kick boxer also has a conviction for assaulting a 61 year old feminist vile abuse? I'm so confused.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 12/05/2021 18:48

But people have been replying on twitter since the 31st of March...

And the thread on MN is here in response to it getting dug up again on twitter...

Twitter people see posts on twitter. Who knew.

LostToucan · 12/05/2021 18:46

@DownWhichOfLate

Ooh. Someone has posted on the twitter thread thing (terminology of twitter isn’t my forte), asking MUMSnet HQ to have a word about this thread.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 12/05/2021 18:44

Vile abuse? Hahaha have they not even looked on twitter?

Erikrie · 12/05/2021 18:43

Wow. They want it taken down because women are talking about it? They don't want the sunlight in those dusty corners do they.

Wow what a reversal of what happened. And what a surprise that Tara wants to fight women.

Tara also manhandled another woman put of a picket line, shouting "Terf!" and "Let Venice Allen f* you".

Tara was also arrested again for being violent at a protest.

I'll say no more. I think Tara's actions speak for themself.

Coyoacan · 12/05/2021 16:10

Is there a list of words that are banned on MN? One of my posts on this thread has been deleted and I can't fathom why

Why yesterday people were being deleted for using mumsnet's own emojis
