Girl pushed under train.

Thelnebriati · 10/05/2021 22:50

The girls all have to run past the boys to board the train.
One girl is kicked in the face, spat on, shoved, tripped up, and ends up falling on to the tracks.

The guard in they hi vis yellow jacket just watches.

I'm at the end of my tether with male violence and entitlement.

These lads went after every female that walked by. These girls were just seen as ‘targets’. Would they have gone after another lad? Maybe.

Here is the statement; it refers to his “rights” and him being a minor:
While I di think the statement seems lsme I think the club have to be careful what they say as not to prejudice a criminal investigation.
I am hoping that is the reason anyway!

I am shocked at how much hate these boys have. The kid in the red jacket spitting at a young woman as she goes past! Unbelievable and heartbreaking that she has to endure this.

I can only assume this thread started out not in Feminism, because the apologists for male violence on this thread are appalling.

I can't see any apologist posts? Pointing out that gangs like this don't confine their attacks to women isn't apologist.

Rejoiningperson · 11/05/2021 08:42

I don’t know why people on this thread are attacking others for saying this isn’t a boys on girls specific problem.

It isn’t. Boys are actually more vulnerable to this kind of attack from these roaming boy gangs (mostly boys but there are often girls with them egging them on). That it’s girls this time is actually pretty unusual as attacking girls purely physically is not as common - and the fact that it happened recently shows how far these gangs now are going, very dark. There are more sexual assaults on girls from these boy gangs, they are much more vulnerable to that threat.

Yes it is overwhelming the boys causing this violence, but it is critically important that we assess the threat from examples and to whom objectively and factually. This particular example was absolutely awful to girls. However these gangs are a threat, as many have said, mostly to other boys or men walking alone or anyone who is vulnerable.

If we ignored this fact we would only be outraged ‘because it’s towards girls’ rather being outraged that this is ‘teenage boy violence’ towards anyone they think is fair game. Girls are not usually the main targets to be honest, ask the Dublin police they have a good idea of who gets targeted. I want to protect boys, vulnerable people and girls. There isn’t any need to name call others like me on this thread who are responding with an accurate perspective. And yes I’m a feminist and pretty proud of that fact too.

The gangs are out of control in Ireland. I’m sure they are in UK too, however in my town in the UK we don’t usually have roaming gangs in this way. However my relatives in Ireland report that gangs of teenagers are regularly throwing stones at cars for example. It’s a weekly occurrence. In Dublin the Dart & Luas has loads of intimidation that’s gone on for far too long. I find that hugely scary. The very least the football club can do is take immediate clear action and make an example of them. Particularly as this is so clearly shown on the media, these poor girls were just going about their day and were frightened and vulnerable. Makes me absolutely rage.

Petition signed. Awful.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/05/2021 08:40

So she is cool with that behaviour? Happy if it happens to her or her mum but some lad for a laugh? She didn’t need to say anything at all.

Franke · 11/05/2021 08:38

That boy's sister is whining on social media about him getting all the flack when "He didn't kick anyone under a train".

Oulu · 11/05/2021 08:35

If it's not a male female problem then where are the roaming gangs of female thugs?

My sister was attacked by one in Kingston.

Bagelsandbrie · 11/05/2021 08:35

@Doghead

This video actually made me cry when I saw it the other day.

It's wrong to link it only to violence against the women though. Scrotes like this go for anyone. No respect, no morals and extremely low self esteem. Trying to be all 'gangsta' in front of their mates.

Yep this.

I grew up in Croydon and there were gangs like this everywhere. It’s not specifically “against women” it’s against anyone they perceive to be weaker than themselves. Old, disabled, women, children, no one is beyond them.

This is absolutely disgusting. I have signed the petition. I don’t know what we need to do to change things but how absolutely heartbreaking that some young people have such disrespect for each other.

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 08:32

I’d say they are aged around 14 to 16?

These are not working class boys. I’m from a working class family; am now an expat scientist in Switzerland. Many of my friends from working class families are perfectly respectable members of society; doctors, teachers, police, civil servants etc.

Sick of this narrative that working class (boys in particular) are feral scum. These boys here aren’t working class; they’re from a strata on the fringes of society, probably from non-working, broken families with criminality thrown in.[/quote]
Yes agreed

Zzelda · 11/05/2021 08:27

@toffeebutterpopcorn

So - if he had been a kid who was an aspiring martial arts medal winner - they would have thrown the book at him. A footballer is fit and kicks for a living - same thing isn’t it?
I can't see anything that indicates they aren't going to throw the book at him. They're currently saying that they need to follow due process.
GCAcademic · 11/05/2021 08:24

Please don’t post petition links on here, this will get the thread moved to the petition board!

Zzelda · 11/05/2021 08:23

@toffeebutterpopcorn

They actually stated human rights? How is it that men have ‘more’ human rights?

Woman - no right to catch a train without being attacked
Man - human rights to attack a woman and not have the meanies demand he is punished?

As I read it, they are simply being rightly cautious. If they jump in with assumptions of guilt at this stage then they risk jeopardising any trial which would mean that any charges would have to be dropped. No-one is saying that the accused have any more rights than the victim.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/05/2021 08:22

So I guess the lads were what mid teens?

Kind if reminds me of a few years back when a young man in Scotland who was basically let off with a ‘tut tut’ for repeatedly raping a little girl over a few years (from when he was a young teen). He was wanting to go to uni to be a vet - so the judge decided that his potential career was more important so he didn’t get jail. I think he had to give the little girl £80. So he was guilty, everyone knew what he did, but he walked out of court. I’m still raging about this.

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 08:21

They gangs travel on the dart to Dalkey and Kiliney beach on the Southside - and to Malahide, Howth and Portmarnock on the northside - among other places.

Petition to sign to get the 'footballer' who thinks kicking a young woman in the head is acceptable kicked out of his football club.

@SunflowersAndLavender

Seems to be a huge problem in seaside townships in Dublin. Access on Dart from city centre to Howth Malahide Bray and Greystones increased today to 50% capacity. This is only going to get worse. Terrible invasion for locals

I don't understand this comment. Whay is a terrible invasion for locals? Invasion by what/whom?

I heard this happened at Howth Junction, so firmly in the north side.
MadamBatty · 11/05/2021 08:15

There’s a group of approx 30 boys 13-15 that hang about my small local park from 3 to 5 pm everyday. They smoke hash & intimidate the dog walkers, women with young children & elderly women. The boys have electric scooters & bikes.

I made a complaint to the local Superintendent at the Garda station. He did get back to me, he said the main problem is that these boys are under age so even if they do take them to the station they can ‘do nothing’.

I’ve told him that this is unacceptable & written also to my TD. Still waiting for their reply.

Where the feck are the parents in this?

@DoingItMyself

I've been on that train and the middle aged men and elders are just as fucking rude. It's a horrible place, vile people.

Which is not the case for Dublin as a whole.

Wow - I'd considered Dublin as a place for a long weekend break - whilst long haul is not possible for a while - avoiding the place now.

This does not happen where I live - male violence yes but gangs of males attacking women/girls walking past like this!
