Girl pushed under train.

The girls all have to run past the boys to board the train.
One girl is kicked in the face, spat on, shoved, tripped up, and ends up falling on to the tracks.

The guard in they hi vis yellow jacket just watches.

I'm at the end of my tether with male violence and entitlement.

Oh its ok Sherbourne FC will respect his rights and deal with how they think it'll be 'fair' which will be 'everybody just hush now about this for a bit'

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/05/2021 09:23

I hope that's the end of that little bastard's potential career

I doubt it - the clubs will probably admire his kicking skills Hmm

Rejoiningperson · 11/05/2021 09:21

@magicstar1 Yes I’ve relatives in Dublin, Cork and Limerick and they all say this is really common. Gangs throwing stones at cars every week in all areas. Arranging to meet for fights. In Cork last week 200 teenagers in the city met up drinking and several fights, serious assaults. It’s totally out of control.

ConfusedAdultFemale · 11/05/2021 09:18

That is hideous.

Happycat1212 · 11/05/2021 09:18

What is also shocking is how one after another, they’re kicked or spat at and they continue without confronting the boys.

Yeh I can’t see many women wanting to confront a group of guys that are attacking people Hmm they were probably to scared to

magicstar1 · 11/05/2021 09:17

It’s disgusting and happening a lot in Dublin. I live in a nice estate...kids play out, teenagers don’t cause any trouble, and a few weeks ago we were invaded. There were gangs of male teenagers threatening kids with knives, one 11 cried and said his age so one older guy said to let him go. There were mass fights on the park. They were from two other areas....they’d arrange a fight, get on the Luas and meet halfway, which is our place. They said they’d be coming here all summer as the residents are pussies and will not do anything.
The community got together with the Gardaí and they’ve made it so inhospitable that it’s stopped. Garda vans waiting at the Luas stop and arresting them etc. But I know they’ll move on somewhere else...it’s not really stopping at all.

Supmama · 11/05/2021 09:17

Awful behaviour horrible thugs! Bit unfair to say guard stands and does nothing he was on his own and was probably telling them to leave. He went to the girls aid who fell and likely called the police. I think they should fund more security/police for public transport have people trained to deal with these out of control gangs. Tazzer them if it where legal!

Horehound · 11/05/2021 09:16

Jack cooney
Adam lynch
AJ Morgan
Jason Delaney

These are the culprits. Fuckers
The football club Jason plays as a youth team member released a statement saying they will deal with the matter fairly and properly and then there's little dweebs on twitter trying to claim he doesn't even play there anymore and left before this happened. If that's the case, bozo, why would the club release a statement?
These people are thick as mince.

echt · 11/05/2021 09:12

No-one is disputing this. People are simply rightly pointing out that these gangs target anyone they perceive to be vulnerable, irrespective of sex

So put the link on AIBU and say, hey, it's all about everyone.

shroompie · 11/05/2021 09:12

Re the gender aspect males tend to be more violent and are often the ones who commit and are on thec receiving end of violent crime.

CovidSmart · 11/05/2021 09:12

@DdraigGoch

I'm a railway guard in the UK. We are absolutely NOT trained or equipped for anything physical. We are told to avoid confrontation, to retreat to a safe place and call the police or ask our security contractors to intervene.

Wannabe Sir Galahad I might be - with strong chivalrous instincts to defend the vulnerable - there's still no way that I'd be wading alone into the middle of a teenage gang. One of our security staff got badly beaten up by such a gang recently.

Yep i get that. My issue is the following:
  • guards etc.. are told not to intervene
  • members if the public are told not to intervene
  • all of those are told to call the police, when numbers are going down, they are far away so will take time to come etc...
  • so basically in this case anyone who is been attacked is on their own. Incl those young girls
  • on the other side, the same people who have no issue attacking others have no incentive to change their behaviour. Whether it’s because of the lack of suitable punishment/lack of rehabilitation etc... but they are still outside doing the same stuff.

At what point is it going to stop? When one of those will actually have killed someone?

shroompie · 11/05/2021 09:11

Absolutely horrific. Horrible little shits. Likely they'd have done it to a boy too. Bullies pick on anyone they think won't or can't fight back. I have been listening to the LISK podcast (highly recommend) about a high ranking US police officer James Blake and his high up friends, including a surgeon, being linked to violent sex (rape) parties, snuff films and possibly serial killing of prostitutes. At one point the journalists touch on the connection James Blake may have to a 13yo boy who was beaten to death with rocks stuffed down his throat.

It's truly disturbing what human beings can (and want to!) do to one another.

I don't know what to say. It's obviously disturbing but what can we do? Create better societies and raise better human beings?

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken

I have no idea how people are disputing that this is clearly an example of male on female violence and that male on female violence is incredibly disproportionate when measured against female on male violence. Especially if we only take similar situations into account. Gangs of females attacking males in this manner is unbelievably rare.

This is disgraceful, I have signed the petition. Absolute animals.

I understand that this is your training and I understand that one man against a group of youths is like asking someone to enter a lion's den, and grossly unreasonable. BUT it still makes my heart sink to think that someone who is there to GUARD isn't actually able to guard at all.

I don't know what the answer is, but if this is as endemic as it sounds, then surely there needs to be additional training or security? When I get a train, I assume that if something dangerous was unfolding, the man in the hi-vis would do SOMETHING? This is one of the most mindless acts of violence I've ever seen.

Onlinedilema · 11/05/2021 09:05

I've signed the petition.

Horrifying! Sad Angry

I think this must not be the first time something like this happens and the poor girls are resigned to this horrible behaviour, probably because they know nothing will happen to the boys.

As many have said, this resignation from the girls is as nearly as troubling as the disgusting action from the boys.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/05/2021 08:53

Girls are in those environments too. Some are on gangs as well. It’s unusual for girls to be roaming around attacking people at random (not unheard of, but unusual).

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 08:52

Yes they certainly would have gone after lone boys running by too. I have seen these gangs and how they act.

www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/society/2019/nov/27/girls-gangs-sexual-criminal-exploitation-violence

The first two articles are Australian, and in my experience, somewhat accurate.

The last looks at the often tragic circumstances for girls involved in gangs. The figure of about 1/3 of gang members being girls is cited elsewhere and I have no reason to doubt it. Some of the girls are actively violent, others are cheering on and filming in the background.

Males in gangs are overwhelmingly from poor and deprived communities and disproportionately from BAME backgrounds.

Have a look at the victims of of knife crime in London - overwhelmingly BAME males, as young as 12 and 13, and overwhelmingly gang related

I disagree with painting this as an issue of male entitlement. These are not some all-powerful patriarchy lording it over women. It seems to me more about a demographic of society's rejects who hate the world, and everyone in it. They are spreading anarchy, not patriarchy.
