Does Bunbury have an orchestra?

(Also, can just anyone start a Bunbury thread or do you have to be a Weighty Feminist? Apologies if so, I will retreat tugging my forelock.)

Someone mentioned the cornet. Can I bagsy the kettle drum?

@R0wantrees

I believe that I'm playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order. Wink

Is your much loved hound tuneful?

Let’s just say, he’s about as tuneful as certain posters on this board today, and quite possibly less hairy.

He is particularly snuggly though, and is therefore a million times more valuable.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/09/2021 22:49

Take heart: none of them can play a trombone, they're too busy wasting their breath on trying to unsuccessfully produce coherent arguments.

And I have been conscientiously drinking from bottles all the same size and then keeping the empties, in order to make a bottle xylophone -- only I have been using wine bottles, not fizzy water ones like they do in the places that tell you how to do it.

Dear god in heaven, is it just me or are the trolls out in force pissing in the corner?

Unless you've seen that thread you may not know what I'm on about but they'll probably be in here soon pissing all over the carpets.
Shock
Is anywhere safe?
(looks round desperately)
No, don't bother, I know nowhere is. Shock Sad

@R0wantrees

I am now practising the theme to the 'Dam Busters' having found both tissue paper and a comb.
Have you perfected your performance, Rowantrees?

I’ve dug out my kazoo and am making an attempt to learn Bunbury’s 1st Symphony, accompanied only by the howling of my much loved hound and the distant sound of traffic on this sleepy Sunday afternoon.

Chickenyhead · 08/08/2021 21:49

Can't do it, that last one got me. Proper got me.

MonsignorMirth · 08/08/2021 20:16

Got me new name. Must remember to use it!

AnyOldPrion · 08/08/2021 19:18

Mary’s Boy Child? Count me in!

R0wantrees · 08/08/2021 19:15

We could do a Boney M medley.

I like this idea.

Wine

The anger is good. It keeps the fight going strong.

But yes, when I feel snarky me coming out, I need to tag team out of the ring.

It will come with practice.

Sorry for me learning journey disharmony Grin

TinselAngel · 08/08/2021 18:58

@FloralBunting

How about Rasputin by Boney M?
That would be ace! We could do a Boney M medley.

AnyOldPrion · 08/08/2021 18:52

I hope not, Chickenyhead.

Sometimes, when I’ve had a strike, I log out for a while. Bunbury herself recommends it:

Knowing when to walk away is wisdom.
Being able to away requires courage.
Walking away with your (Chickeny or otherwise) head held high is dignity.
Walking away from Mumsnet while your strike period is active is practised by pragmatists.

TinselAngel · 08/08/2021 18:50

I vote for "How much is that doggy in the window?"

TinselAngel · 08/08/2021 18:49

I wonder if the single, NO! and a chorus of kazoos wouldn't be more effective (and less wearing)?

What tune would we play on the kazoo?

ArabellaScott · 08/08/2021 18:47

Wine chickenyhead.

Over time you may find rage is tempered by the company of many wise, funny and compassionate women. A rare thing to find, these days. Take heart.

R0wantrees · 08/08/2021 18:42

Chickenyhead Brew

The Bunbury Orchestra has many women learning new instruments and welcomes those who would just like to sit. Earplugs are available in recognition that listening to enthusiastic practice is not to everyone's taste.

Chickenyhead · 08/08/2021 18:36

I think I'm too quick to bite tbh. I have no Bunbury ability.

Will be banned soon.

FloralBunting · 08/08/2021 16:49

Sometimes you have to stand up to it. Mostly, scrolling by is the way to go. But that level of vocal bigotry is gaining pace, and sometimes it's important to push back, and do it hard.

I'm done now, though. Baton passed to others. I'm now texting my girlfriend and making stupid jokes about yoga pants.

AnyOldPrion · 08/08/2021 16:48

Speaking of Man Friday, Sweary Godmother followed me on Twitter the other day!

Pleased, I was.

Very, very pleased!

R0wantrees · 08/08/2021 16:46

(fuckin' 'ell, anti-gay bullshit is bloody wearing)

R0wantrees · 08/08/2021 16:43

@FloralBunting

R0wan, thank you.
Thanks is due to SwearyGodmother for her stirring speech and AnyOldPrion for reminding me of importance of regular music practice.

The opportunity arose to bring them together.

FloralBunting · 08/08/2021 16:41

That gives me a mighty yen to take the dog out and play fetch.
