Trans Widows Escape Committee 5: And so it continues...

Welcome to thread 5. A virtual prize for anyone who can guess the geeky sci fi reference in the thread title.

This is a support area for women who are, or have been, in unhappy relationships with male partners who are transitioning, or exploring their "gender identity"

If you are in that position-

  1. You are not alone
  2. It is not a situation that you should be expected to tolerate, let alone celebrate.
  3. There is always a way out, if you want it. The thread is called Escape Committee for that reason

Remember: women talking to each other is a powerful weapon!

In four years we have gone from starting the first thread, to launching a website, to be invited to give evidence to a government inquiry, which is pretty spectacular when you think about it.

Thanks to all the women who have told their stories and particularly to those who have stuck around to help others. Thanks also to @socialworker222 who remains nice cop, to my stern cop.

Do say hello to start the thread off!

TL:DR "Comply bitches, (including considering your ex the second mother) or it'll be you who is responsible for the damage to tour children."

apart from a violent assault she suffered in the streets two years ago, she lives a life typical of women of her age

Oh, the irony.

HollowTalk · 20/05/2021 08:31

Isn't it odd how easy it is to recognise a male voice?

themiserychick · 20/05/2021 08:16

"I hope my testimony can help overcome some of these difficult trials."

This testimony feels very much like it's placing blame on us for not being 100% supportive and understanding of the partner who has chosen to transition. I'm glad things have worked out for you MumKateB, but I'm not sure that this is the right forum for you.

BrizzleGirl · 20/05/2021 07:52

Classic Urban Woman?

Confused
ProfessorInkling · 20/05/2021 07:03
Hmm
GAHgamel · 19/05/2021 23:47

Not just me then...

Zeev · 19/05/2021 20:52

Hmmm.

That thread was... odd. It may have been legit (a female poster) but had a very odd "validate meeee!" vibe to it.

SouthernTW · 13/05/2021 13:00

I haven't had to see stbx in full femme yet. He's using the incremental boiling the frog method.

socialworker222 · 13/05/2021 12:21

Interestingly that thread is being investigated after multiple reports. Maybe asking (mainly) women to collude with something fetishy is not ok after all...

Cailleach1 · 12/05/2021 21:36

Oh my! You wouldn't put those ensembles on the cat. Miss Havisham in sepia.

Live long and prosper!

TinselAngel · 12/05/2021 21:34

One deletion was a spammer who has been everywhere and one was a lame attack.

I think you're right about that Style and Beauty thread.

I'm going to try and have a break for a couple of weeks because I'm exhausted but I know you'll all look after each other Wine

Maybe people are threatened by the success and longevity of this resource.

Long may it thrive.

socialworker222 · 12/05/2021 21:02

Am I losing perspective here?
No I dont think you are. This stuff takes on all-consuming importance.
I still feel shocked at the sight of my ex (mercifully only occasionally) sashaying round our (unfortunately not that big) town, shudder.
Not sure what the deletions were. Maybe people are threatened by the success and longevity of this resource.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 12/05/2021 20:23

Sending love and support to you amazing women. Flowers
TinselAngel - you deserve a medal - or possibly an honour.

Please don't tell me those deletions are people attacking a support thread?

ProfessorInkling · 12/05/2021 19:34

[quote DeeplyMovingExperience]Am I losing perspective here? In the Style & Beauty section, there's this highly detailed thread describing outfits. With pictures. And I can't help but think...

Without a doubt.

This makes me wonder about what my ex did when he dressed up. And how I’d feel if I recognised him in such a thread.

@SouthernTW, I'm so glad you're getting closer to being done with the legal stuff. Alas that's not the end of it... I know it's taken me a long time to get past the mindfuck aspects of this, and realistically I'm still working on it, but this is a huge step towards that.

My mind automatically continued with "There is a hole in your mind. What do you want? No one here is exactly what he appears"

😍 I'm overdue a B5 rewatch.

Just looked out of curiosity, as I don’t know much about this. However reading some of the stories it’s quite heartbreaking. So just sending sympathies and hope all women have a chance to be heard somewhere.

Zeev · 10/05/2021 22:50

@QuinnMovesOn

Haha, B5!
