How many pregnant “people” are we talking about?

I’ve seen lots of things on Twitter, about the wording: “pregnant people can now have a birth partner” or “pregnant people can get the Covid vaccine”. The word woman will be eradicated soon and I’m fuming.

My question is.... how many people are we talking about here? Per year, how many people in the uk that are/were women now identify as men and also get pregnant? Is it a handful or are we talking thousands here?

Info today out about the covid vaccines and how 'it does not affect people who menstruate' Hmm

StealthPolarBear · 23/04/2021 23:05

@ThinkWittyThoughts

Idle thought.

Women = menstruators
Men = ejaculators
People = urinators?

After all, this whole thing is seriously pissing me off...

@ProbablyGryffindor

And I can see that I say we need to be inclusive (I meant terminology), and then also say, I don’t think trans women should be able to participate in female sport. Straight away excluding them. I don’t know the answer.
Third spaces and third (and fourth) sex categories for sports (TW and TM).

This has been suggested for a long time but it is never accepted because it doesn't give a lot of trans people what they need the most. Other people to validate their belief.

NiceGerbil · 23/04/2021 22:58

It's tricky to unravel, probably.

Appreciate your answer.

I won't go on at you. Keep reading and thinking.

Although- are you aware that male and female are under efforts to change meaning as well?

ProbablyGryffindor · 23/04/2021 22:56

Livpool · 23/04/2021 22:52

Only females/woman can get pregnant.
No one else - like other mammals 🤷🏼‍♀️

ProbablyGryffindor · 23/04/2021 22:50

@NiceGerbil I read your reply as friendly. My reply is too.

I’m trying to read up on these issues to actually find my exact thoughts and where I stand. I definitely don’t know enough yet, and my current thoughts aren’t final. I may say something contradictory, because I haven’t managed to confirm exactly what I think, due to lack of knowledge.

I have spent the last hour trying to answer your questions. I can’t even make sense of my own opinions, they sometimes contradict each other. Which is why I’m spending time researching.

These are my thoughts now. I welcome friendly criticism, reasons why I may be wrong. It is important to me that I understand these issues.

I see 2 sexes - male and female. This is determined at birth and most people fall into one. Sex can’t be changed. I do see man/woman/girl/boy as identities. I probably used to see them in the same way as sex - boys and men are male and girls and women are female. But not now. Now I do see them as something that can be changed. A trans woman was a man, and is now a woman. A trans woman is male. I’m not making fun when I say I do not know at what point they are a woman. When they say so? When can they use a female changing room? I do not think a trans woman should be able to participate in female sport. But I do empathise that if they think of themselves as female, they won’t feel part of male sport either. I don’t have a solution.

I think we do need to be inclusive of everyone. Pregnant women aren’t the only ones who could be pregnant. A trans man is a man, who could be pregnant, but they are female. Anyone pregnant
is female.

Contrary to my muddled post, I am a fairly intelligent person. But I can’t seem to organise my own thoughts to come to a clear statement.

I agree with what you have said in your subsequent posts.

I don’t understand the last paragraph on your post that was directed to me.

NiceGerbil · 23/04/2021 22:47

I've got no issues with female people getting pregnant.

Being trans also doesn't protect you from assault etc if you're female.

I do have a problem with the destruction of language etc. I would want any pregnant trans man to be cared for with respect etc.

The nope is when pregnant people etc happens.

Funnily enough, no castigating comments in her replies as of yet, pointing out the misdemeanor!

Riggsisadino sorry to cross-post with your example of a very difficult situation. Flowers

pombear · 23/04/2021 22:38

Derailing slightly from the main theme of the thread, but to PiglingBlandIIIs point - I fear the chief executive of Macmillan has just veered into transphobia by retweeting about #malecancerawarenessweek.

Surely she knows that some women have testicles?

Imo anyone who has a GRC and then chooses to get pregnant should have the GRC rescinded.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 23/04/2021 22:28

And What nice just said

NiceGerbil · 23/04/2021 22:26

Riggs thanks for your post.

Congrats to both of you!

One to one I don't think anyone would argue with that. Although as soon as I got pregnant more or less I was referred to as 'mum' - lost my name.

I really don't think transmen are the ones driving this. At all. They're being used as an excuse.

Have any of the woke orgs actually asked trans women if they want all these language changes. The answer I'm sure is no. Maybe on online survey where anyone can answer..

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 23/04/2021 22:24

riggs

Im sorry to hear about your family member and what he’s gone through 💐

AnotherEmma · 23/04/2021 22:23

@Riggsisadino

Well I have a close family member who is pregnant, very close to giving birth he identifies as male. We are close as I've just given birth. He dosent understand the whole shift to language to take away women either. Our local trust had pregnant women and in some leaflets pregnant women and people. In one to one settings staff would use diffent language for him which he appreciated. In answer to original question we are not in a large trust but not in a small one either and he is the first person in two years who identified as a trans man. In response to the quotes up above about how could a trans man get pregnant with dyoshoria. It's been incredibly hard for him. But he found out about the pregnancy late near abortion cut of point. He didn't believe he could get pregnant also most medical professionals believed he could so they don't ask relevant questions. He was raped and couldn't get the help he needed either.
I am so sorry to hear about his experience, sounds very difficult Flowers
AnotherEmma · 23/04/2021 22:16

@Whatsnewpussyhat

The minuscule number of females who do not want to call themselves women that then use their female reproductive organs to get pregnant, give birth and breast feed should not get to dictate the language used by the other 99.99999999% of women who want their sex based language left alone.

They can simply have a note added to their records so their midwife knows their preferred pronouns.

But then we know it's not about trans men.
It's about male TRA's telling us we're not allowed to use the words woman or women for any solely female biological function because it 'excludes' them.
Of course it bloody does. That's the fucking point.

And this
AnotherEmma · 23/04/2021 22:11

@RedDeerRunning

Pretty much none. But that's not the group of people being pandered to here. None of this is about improving things for women. It's the feelings of the XY brigade that Stonewall bangs the drum for.

AnneLovesGilbert · 23/04/2021 22:06

That’s fair, sorry.

GNCQ · 23/04/2021 22:04

Are all of these likely to become “inclusive” and organ rather then sex specific or are they less sexy and exciting therefore we can keep them for ourselves?

I fear one by one they'll all go.

That's why I didn't specifically mention the NHS page I was looking up that still refers to women here on this forum.

We know this area is studied closely by people who want to erase the word woman. Don't want to provide targets for them really.

GNCQ · 23/04/2021 21:59

Yeah this page is pretty shitty. "People" yeah which type of people?
Is my dad at risk?

How many pregnant “people” are we talking about?
AnneLovesGilbert · 23/04/2021 21:55

I’m still baffled and appalled by the pathetic reply I got from the NHS after complaining about the daftness of their page on pregnancy.

This thread made me do a quick spot check and for ovarian cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer and menopause I can only see them mention women.

Are all of these likely to become “inclusive” and organ rather then sex specific or are they less sexy and exciting therefore we can keep them for ourselves?

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 23/04/2021 21:45

pigling

Its stuff like that which just pisses me off

Inclusive my arse

Anyone who says that it’s inclusive when it doesn’t affect men is a fucking liar who isn’t worth listening to

If you do get a email for higher up that particular food chain please let me know and I’ll join with the complaining

NiceGerbil · 23/04/2021 21:43

'Most men diagnosed with penile cancer are over the age of 50. But it can also affect younger men.

The penis
The penis is the male sex organ. It is made of different types of tissue, such as skin, muscle and nerves. '

I skimmed a fair bit of the cervical cancer one and didn't see woman or female anywhere.
