She's mainly being pulled apart in the comments due to, you know, lying.

No doubt in my mind that she's getting puberty blockers and the contraceptive pill mixed up.

Such a shame as I have been following her since my early 20's and found her feminism very accessible back then.

Am I being unreasonable to say she's talking nonsense??

puberty blockers in the icebox which you were probably saving for breakfast

Hahaha!

This is just to say

I have eaten
the puberty blockers
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for heavy periods

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so wrong

😀
ArabellaScott · 16/04/2021 23:40

I enjoyed the tweet which noted that something clearly had blocked her development.

transbadger · 16/04/2021 19:41

@CardinalLolzy

I agree. I don't have Twitter. I think it's a vile place. But sometimes I enjoy a thread like this as it reminds me that most people aren't fooled by the bullshit. Very reassuring.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/04/2021 18:37

They're "unprotected" from unscrupulous people advocating puberty blockers, rather, Jameela.

CardinalLolzy · 16/04/2021 17:10

@nauticant

Here's a twitter search that will show you the highlights:

twitter.com/search?q=puberty%20blockers%2090s&f=live

Most amusing.

On one hand, Twitter is a cesspit of racism, homophobia, misogyny and general vileness. On the other hand, it's almost worth it for the high standards of pisstaking...

Is there a 'puberty blockers in the icebox which you were probably saving for breakfast' one yet?

ItsLateHumpty · 16/04/2021 16:56

She’s a complete muppet. Twitter is pretty much a dust storm in a sand storm so largely irrelevant. I like to think the ‘facts’ from the twitterarty are a bit like the ‘facts’ from Wiki.

All I can hope is the people believing said ‘facts’ grow up some time soon.

I ❤️ this reply - made me all nostalgic.

“Remember when Blue Peter showed us how to make our own puberty blockers out of cardboard and sticky-backed plastic?”

EdgeOfACoin · 16/04/2021 16:44

If they ever were, I'd imagine that doctors at some point realised that stopping puberty entirely was not an appropriate response to the problem of heavy periods. A bit like how a lobotomy is not an appropriate response to a headache.

Grin The idea it ever happened except possibly in the rarest of rare circumstances is absurd.

@EdgeOfACoin

Also, is the pill still prescribed for girls with heavy periods? I kind of assumed it was. If not, when and why did the practice stop?

And, similarly, if PBs were ever prescribed to teenage girls for heavy periods in the 90s (which they weren't, but let's go with it), when and why did the practice stop?

Puberty blockers for athletes foot, you say? Willing to give it a go, Jameela.

drwitch · 16/04/2021 16:21

@underhiseye. I think having chidi and Micheal explain to tahania why she is being so dangerous would be a great episode

peanutbutterjimjams · 16/04/2021 16:20

Eddie Izzard is one of the most unprotected people on earth.

Sure, Jam.

My daughter was prescribed the pill for heavy and painful periods in the last 4 years yes

PotholeHellhole · 16/04/2021 16:09

I once read that it was important for celebrities not to over-saturate newspapers and magazines with publicity about themselves, because at some point the public gets sick of seeing their face and starts avoiding productions with them in.

I am now at this point for Eddie Izzard. I don't even open rant threads about Eddie if I see that name in the thread title.

AryaStarkWolf · 16/04/2021 16:05

@Mugginyouleftrightandcentre

She is notorious for, ahem, 'inconsistencies' about her past, so I would imagine this is another one of those times where she has got herself a little bit mixed up.

I was also at an all girls school in the 90s and can confirm that puberty blockers for heavy periods was not A Thing.

Same, the Pill was, anyone in school in 90's (any female anyway) should know that, what kind of a moron is she?
ForeverFaithless · 16/04/2021 15:56

PotholeHellhole - similarly for Izzard, I might have been able to watch the new film he's in if his character got knocked off fairly quickly. I'd rather watch Thor or Wonder Woman again, at least they have entertaining visuals

UnderHisAye · 16/04/2021 15:51

It's a shame because The Good Place is so great. Kristen Bell seems so genuine, she probably gives her a wide berth.

GCAcademic · 16/04/2021 15:50

She sounds personality disordered, going by those tweets.
