Hello
I've been lurking here for yrs and made a v public stand against gender ideology today after mulling it over for about a week. I feel sick to my core now and was wondering did anyone else feel similarly or if anyone would be able to pm me for a chat....

DeRigueurMortis excellent post

@Womansisterdaughtermother

Part of what I did was object to policy that all members be encouraged to signal their preferred pronouns.
Well done. When over 90% of the population is cis ( apologies for the offensive word) why does everyone need to suddenly make they're pronouns noted at every introduction?

It's just a little bit silly. I'm all for trans rights but isn't anyone going to rein in the more bizarre demands from TRAs any more?

EvenleyWitch · 08/04/2021 01:27

@MrsWooster

Avoid engaging in any and all discussions that feature the word trans. Everything you do (I assume) is for women so keep every comment about women. “This is about women and girls’ rights” “but what about...” “It’s about women and girls, human females, who are disadvantaged by means of their sex.” “But .... are ......” “Human females, discriminated therefore protected on the grounds of biology.” Repeat til it’s necessary to block or walk away. You are in the right and (I assume) wouldn’t discriminate against trans rights, so hold the line that you are simply, firmly advocating FOR women.
Great advice. Unfortunately it's not very difficult to get called a Terf these days. Just trying to have a civilised discussion on the pros and cons of gender self ID will usually do it especially if you have any of your own opinions on the subject.

Bad idea..

normalsaline · 08/04/2021 01:07

Well done. In what context did you speak out?

Carouselfish · 08/04/2021 00:14

Well done op. I post questions on my social media to make people think and start discussions. I don't tell them my viewpoint 100% but try and get people to question some of the bullshit. If it came to it, I'd say what I thought because of the reasons pp have mentioned. I'm not going to lie.

StillAFemale · 07/04/2021 22:16

Well done - I’ve spoken up in a few places with no significant negative consequences yet but i pick my places and there’s one area of my industry I’m very careful what I say

SpringTimeDream · 07/04/2021 22:00

In the wrong place heck sorry 😞

SpringTimeDream · 07/04/2021 21:59

I came across a social media post about toilets that have lgbtq+ inclusive...with packs that nake them safe? What does that mean
May I ask does that mean separate toilets or the woman's ones?
Sorry for my lack of knowledge

Cagedbirdsinging · 07/04/2021 21:50

OP I remember seeing a woman in the crowds at the Sarah Everard vigil/protest who was holding a placard saying something along the lines of “when my daughters ask me what did I do, I cannot say nothing”
This is now you.

OP, my hand is extended to hold yours, with thanks for your courage.

Igmum · 07/04/2021 20:56

Well done OP. You are wonderful. I've had loads of private conversations with people and found vast swathes of fantastic GC women. I haven't yet had the nerve to broach this in public. Thank you for speaking out. I hope one day I will join you Thanks

CriticalCondition · 07/04/2021 20:52

Well done, OP.

It feels pretty scary at first, like you've burnt some boats. But you haven't, you'll have built some bridges to other like minded people who are for women.

Well done Op I've done similar or was very hard particularly as it resulted in a women in my social club ( think WI but not) leave the club because of my transphobia & write a letter of complaint to the national chair.

Not very nice particularly as I'd said to her we can disagree and still be respectful to reach other.
