But I imagine coming here to tell us off about graffiti is quite a different proposition to stating on Twitter that people should stop attacking Vancouver Rape Relief.

Quite. I'd be impressed if she did, but I wouldn't expect her to, knowing the backlash she'd get. Every female trans ally is one misguided tweet away from being cancelled, after all. No matter how much you've done for "the cause".

adviceseekingnamechanger · 05/04/2021 16:52

@Leafstamp

Also that doesn't make GC people okay or anything

Are you saying GC people are not ok @ASugarr ?

She does think that but also fails to read anything properly.

The perpetrators, who called themselves Revolutio, left a note describing feminism as “one of the bêtes noires of our era.”
...

But @ASugarr said they perpetrators were clearly gender critical, while then continuing to say there was no such thing as a gender critical feminist. You seriously think people who denounce feminism are gender critical? Feminism IS being gender critical.

I honestly don't know why she bothers coming on here to make an absolute fool of herself.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 05/04/2021 16:46

Gender ideology is the opposite of feminism.

ASugarr did say she disapproved of the dead rat. But I imagine coming here to tell us off about graffiti is quite a different proposition to stating on Twitter that people should stop attacking Vancouver Rape Relief.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/04/2021 16:42

@ASugarr
Where do you get off defining people?

People are saying it’s not GC’s who sprayed the glass.

Nothing to say about the mural or effigy then?!!

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/04/2021 16:39

@YetAnotherSpartacus

Rhymes with sis.
Ok thanks. Was what I thought but rather confused as it doesn’t start and end with c (toffee said it did above, but it’s the sound rather than the letter).

Also hate that word.

ImpatiensI · 05/04/2021 16:38

There isn't really such a thing as a gender critical feminist

But I'm gender critical and a feminist, so your statement is wrong.

GoingThruTheMotions · 05/04/2021 16:38

^Also that doesn't make GC people okay or anything^

Say what you mean why don't you.
I won't lose any sleep being aligned with JK Rowling and Hibo Wardere.

adviceseekingnamechanger · 05/04/2021 16:35

@ASugarr

Well it's unknown who did it so no one can confirm or deny what. It's still a terrible thing. Also that doesn't make GC people okay or anything. Clearly whoever deframed the memorial was gender critical so still links there. There isn't really such a thing as a gender critical feminist (plus the murder thing is weird to input)...
Do you not read posts on the thread before coming up with your posts? Bad form.

LOL. There is no such thing as a "feminist" who isn't critical of gender. Gender is restrictive and regressive sex role stereotypes.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 05/04/2021 16:29

Since gender is the set of social and cultural constructs used to constrain women under a patriarchal society, I'd say there are only gender critical feminists.

How do you get to the conclusion that the graffiti on the trans woman's memorial was carried out by the same group who sprayed the anti- feminist graffiti?

Do far right anti- feminist groups use the exact same sloganeering as radical feminists?

The dates don’t seem like a perfect fit either.

The delightful young men who were so distressed by the graffiti that they felt the need to stop and photograph it before spending a lot of elbow grease cleaning it off (and by some great stroke of fortune had the perfect materials with them to do so) seem to have tweeted about it two days before IWD, which is the day of the news report.

334bu · 05/04/2021 16:17

Still waiting for examples of" transphobia" in graffiti on centre?

[quote Hilarias]Interestingly this article in the Spanish newspaper El Pais links the graffiti on Cristina Ortiz’s memorial with two other acts of vandalism of feminist murals/memorials for International Women’s Day, most likely carried out by supporters of the far right party, Vox:

“Feminist mural in Madrid vandalized on International Women’s Day

The faces of the 15 women depicted in the mural were covered with black spray paint. The perpetrators, who called themselves Revolutio, left a note describing feminism as “one of the bêtes noires of our era.”
...
This was the third act of vandalism registered in just a few hours: on Sunday, another feminist mural in the nearby city of Alcalá de Henares was damaged after being inaugurated just two days earlier. Mayor Javier Rodríguez Palacios, of the PSOE, called the attack “an assault against all of society.” A plaque honoring trans icon Cristina Ortiz, known as La Veneno, in the Parque del Oeste in Madrid, was also spray-painted with a message against the government’s draft law on trans rights.”

To any trans person, it's obvious

What about those trans people who vehemently declare that sex most certainly does NOT equal gender?

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/04/2021 15:45

I’m struggling to think what the c word is. Not trying to get anyone deleted obvs....

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/04/2021 15:45

It makes me feel sick to be called the c word, even more so when those using it are so sensitive about language we must use for them.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/04/2021 15:44

Yes a list would be very useful perhaps the fear is it would be circulated and used against Mumsnet.

Soontobe60 · 05/04/2021 15:44

@Shizuku

This thread is a masterclass in whataboutery.
If everybody just replied ‘ yes, vandalism is bad’, you’d have no one to argue with!
GoingThruTheMotions · 05/04/2021 15:42

I really, really hate the c word. To me it sounds almost onomatopoeic, like a tiny little whisper no one cares to hear. I also don't like the connotations with the word that means silly, weak and girlish.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/04/2021 15:40

I think it’s been recently deleted from the banned list ...

toffeebutterpopcorn · 05/04/2021 15:38

I bet a teensy word beginning and ending in ‘c’ isn’t on there...
