Fucks sake 😡🤬

Argoscatalogueandabingoma · 26/03/2021 19:21

Sorry sunset I was on "It'll never happen..." and it took ages for the link to work.

ismiseeire · 26/03/2021 19:13

I'd say Arbour Hill (is it mixed?) will be considered too dangerous for her if she's put in with men, given that she's trans. Mind you, she could go into Mountjoy with all the female murderers I suppose.

Argoscatalogueandabingoma · 26/03/2021 19:06

@SunsetBeetch the thread you've linked no longer exists

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 26/03/2021 10:28

It's free, here is the registration link bit.ly/3lN8JFt

That person is now the 3rd "woman" sex offender in 2 years.2 are in a women's prison and not yet known where this one will go but of they have a GRC they will go to a women's prison.
This can't keep going on and being ignored.

Juliesipad

I balked at that too, it is sickening isn't it.
Nearly 3000 cat 1 images, it's indefensible.
If anyone is interested The Countess Didn't Fight for This! Irish feminist group, are doing a Zoom webinar today on Prisons.Rhona Hotchkiss and Heather Mason are on it. It's at 5 today.

@inigomontoyahwillcox

Sorry - that judge couldn't make it any clearer that he is a paedophile sympathiser (for whatever reason - couldn't imagine why). Sickening.
He has proven to be very consistent in his lax sentencing of heinous crimes. There has been petitions to get him removed.

Detective Garda Martin Allen told the court some of the child abuse images found were “unique” in that gardaí working the Cyber Crime division had not come across them before.

Christ.... Sad

@miri1985

The rehabilitation program that is mentioned in that article is only available in Arbour Hill which is for male sex offenders (www.irishprisons.ie/prisoner-services/treatment-of-sex-offenders/). I would assume this person doesn't have a GRC and is still legally male so hopefully they are in a male prison.
While Arbour Hill is the usual place, a prisoner can be placed in another prison in special circumstances. So it is possible that the prisoner is in Limerick women's prison.

"Under the Irish Prison Service’s Sex Offender Management Policy (PDF), Arbour Hill Prison is designated as the national centre for imprisoned sex offenders with a full range of therapeutic interventions available. Midlands Prison and Wheatfield Place of Detention are designated as satellite centres where a narrower range of therapeutic interventions are available. Prisoners committed initially to other prisons are transferred to the satellite centres unless exceptional circumstances prevail."

“Biggs outlined letters from family and friends who characterised De Souza as a kind, loyal and trustworthy person with no evil or desire for children in her.“
I think the fact that De Souza had over 3000 images of child abuse begs to differ.

“ A friend outlined in a letter that sex work in Brazil was very dangerous with transgender women attacked and sometimes murdered in the street.”
And.....? What’s that got to do with this case?

“”A small number of child “anime” images were also found.”
No comment....

Juliesipadwillcallyouback · 26/03/2021 07:17

Woah, there is a lot to unpick in that article! WTF?!

SunsetBeetch · 26/03/2021 07:10

@Ereshkigalangcleg

This can't have happened because it literally never happens.
PermanentTemporary · 26/03/2021 07:01

Helen Joyce said that stats previously recorded show 0-3 women in Ireland in prison for sex offences. I don't know what date that's from but her implication was that it was before this current situation.

This conviction would increase the rate dramatically if counted as a woman in statistics.

Things we are not allowed to ask, or know, or think about.

XXSex · 26/03/2021 06:20

I read this last night and it had the comments turned on. This morning the comments have been wiped and turned off.

“No debate”

miri1985 · 26/03/2021 05:17

"Surely she would have to have a GRC as she is married to a man."

Same sex marriage has been legal in Ireland since 2015, so not necessarily

EdgeOfACoin · 26/03/2021 03:54

I believe Mumsnet allows use of the pronoun 'he' when it comes to convicted sex offenders.

Just in case anyone is struggling to use the pronoun 'she' in this case.

ismiseeire · 26/03/2021 03:48

Wow. That is one fucked up life. Also interested to hear where she will be jailed. Where has she been held so far?

jessstan2 · 26/03/2021 03:21

Surely she would have to have a GRC as she is married to a man. Goodness me, I wonder what he thinks of all this, if he stays with her or files for divorce.

It's dreadful and I don't feel any better for having read about it; however, like others, I'm wondering how she will behave in prison and how the other inmates will feel about having her around given that her offence is so heinous.

I do think her upbringing in Brazil is relevant because anything goes there when it comes to sexual behaviour.

jessstan2 · 26/03/2021 03:11

Oh my goodness, that is horrible.

ExhaustedFlamingo · 26/03/2021 01:42

It's actually really unacceptable that the fact they are trans isn't mentioned until the bottom third of the article.

Sexual deviance and how it relates to biological sex is really bloody important because it's one of the reasons so many women are concerned about the whole TWAW push. People who don't read this whole article in detail are going to glance at this and believe that it's a natal woman. And as we're arguing about the difference in sexual crimes between men and women, getting the right message out there about prevalence really is so important. If people believe that there are more women committing these crimes, they will refuse to accept the very legitimate concerns over safety when it comes to TW.

FromEden · 26/03/2021 01:36

That Judge

How he is still in a job I don't know. Some very dubious decisions and statements over the years when it comes to sex offenders

Shaggervalley · 26/03/2021 01:09

That Judge ! Urgh .I can't say what I think of him on here . And yet again ,that thing that never happens . A good person ,my arse . A wicked ,dangerous man . #not ourcrimes

MissBarbary · 26/03/2021 00:18

“I don’t think she is a bad person but she committed serious offences and the court must punish her for her misbehaviour,” said Judge Nolan

Det Gda Allen said 900,000 messages found on the equipment were also analysed and a substantial number of these conversations were found to relate to discussing child sexual activity
