Well, well.

I wonder where Challenor will bob up next?

It’s going to be Twitter, isn’t it? (Not sure if I’m joking or not)

zzizzer · 25/03/2021 06:15

And yes how has this deeply troubled young person pushed themselves into the spotlight so much?

zzizzer · 25/03/2021 06:14

What a weird post.

No mention of firing, just "that person doesn't work here anymore".

Didn't do background checks or know anything, yet did at some point allow extra measures for AC to be able to wipe out any references to their name.

And they haven't named them in the statement itself.

Aimee has gone.

I wonder if Reddit will review the active roles played by their husband Nathaniel Knight as mod on several sub Reddit’s.

Needmoresleep · 25/03/2021 01:24

For me Aimee’s most extraordinary role was as a member (later deputy chair?) of Stonewall’s transadvisory group. Aimee stayed in this role through the whole Green Party fiasco, and at a time when Stonewall was advising the Police, the Judiciary, schools and just about everyone else you can think of.

This was someone barely out of their teens, and with a very disrupted education and who, if my memory is accurate, claimed to be on the autistic spectrum. . And oddly, despite the clear and public mess the greens had got themselves into, Stonewall seemed unbothered and unquestioned.

FightingTheFoo · 25/03/2021 00:39

@NiceGerbil

Is someone else getting AC into these roles, to do ??? and sees them as essentially a pawn?

This keeps happening with this individual.

I'm no conspiracy theorist but it's just so unlikely.

This is exactly what I can't get my head around.

Even Challenor being trans and thus adding a diversity element does not explain how someone so publicly toxic keeps failing upwards into ever more influential organisations. What the fuck is going on.

Imagine if you or I - or even your gardens variety MTF - had the kind of Google history that Challenor does. We wouldn't get employed in a fast food restaurant let alone two political parties and one of the world's largest social media platforms.

FightingTheFoo · 25/03/2021 00:37

@LemonSwan

Oh no.

According to the chatter (I have no proof whatsoever and not clicking anything to find it) - the husband (the 'fanfiction' writer) mods r/lgbt_KidsZone, r/transgenderteens, r/actuallesbians, and r/LGBT

and also someone else saying apparently r/hypnocaptions which is NSFW and very rapey - again no evidence so may be gossip

This whole thing is one hell of a rabbit hole

If you go to those sub reddits on the right hand side you can see who the mods are. I only checked the Kids LGBT one - which at the top proclaims "FOR THE CHILDREN" - and the pedo-fantasising husband is indeed a mod.
Cwenthryth · 25/03/2021 00:21

Btw my “oh dear how sad” sarcasm was about the firing, not following LemonSwans post about the husband’s subs! Unfortunate Xpost

Oh dear, how sad, never mind

found a few saying things along the lines of “had to read about it on Mumsnet of all places”

Haha glad to be of service, Redditors!

And we’ve managed to discuss this with only 3 deletions on a 245 post thread (so far).

I knew we were the grown ups.

Reddit found Challenor to be a potentially useful addition to their brand then dumped them with the folly of this became apparent. What a grim business this has all been.

In their statement -

*we’ll be evolving a number of relevant internal policies.

We did not operate to our own standards here. We will do our best to do better for you.*

I hope this is the case. I used to really love Reddit as it is an excellent resource for all manner of general and niche topics.

I hope as they are making moves to list as a public company that they sort out their hiring and user security.

I know I had a bad experience and that is pretty unique but when I was just searching online to check I was correct they were listing; the top google searches are..

  1. Is reddit down
  2. Is reddit safe
  3. Is reddit free

I think that says alot.

Good luck reddit. May the force be with those fighting the dark side :)

CrossPurposes · 24/03/2021 23:04

Fave comment so far on the firing: "you didn't like, google her name first?"

SunsetBeetch · 24/03/2021 23:01
Lots of people in the replies are not impressed with the way it's been handled.

Oof.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 24/03/2021 22:53

AC does not come across as particularly enigmatic or a particularly skilled orator. So, quite why Aimee has managed to be in so MANY positions of influence is, well, peculiar.

Ugh supremely creepy given all the other information about AC, husband and father that the couple apparently play kids game, among us and ACs reddit name reflects this. You can chat on that. These people should be nowhere near any children.
