in support of transgender people when all the other Harry Potter ingrates were piling in.

Daily Mail link

"But yeah, I think also you can have huge respect for someone and still disagree with things like that...

Sometimes silence is even louder. I felt like I had to because I think it was important to. I mean, I don’t want to talk about all that… Generally, I’m not an authority on the subject"

Clearly not.

Posters who see to abhor FWR, rarely contribute anything to any thread which doesn't discuss trans issues yet accuse other posters of being trans obsessed

Yes. I do rather notice that who it is on non-trans threads who comes in to thank the OP for posting it and perhaps mentions that they have donated to the organisation that is being signal boosted on the thread.

The Venn diagram shows considerable overlap with the GC women who are lambasted as obsessed with trans. Puzzling.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 21/03/2021 18:45

Hilarious how you assume anyone who is pro trans is a horrible person.

He's not "pro-trans" @Shizuku, not least because he's here admitted he knows fuck-all about the issue. What many of us have a problem with was when he revealed himself to be anti-JKR, again when he knew fuck-all about the issue.

It's nice that he's trying to backtrack here, don't get me wrong. But it would've been even nicer if he hadn't said anything horrible to backtrack from in the first place.

What about you, *@Shizuku**? Are you pro all the rape and death threats that JKR got? Is that the side you align yourself with?

The daughter came before the twaw bus throwing comments I believe.

I was shocked anyone could watch their wife give birth and think, yep this woman thing seems to be about long hair and dresses.

justanotherneighinparadise · 21/03/2021 16:59

You just know his publicist was behind his trans message. He hasn’t the slightest clue what’s going on.

PandorasMailbox · 21/03/2021 16:58

@Shizuku

Hilarious how you assume anyone who is pro trans is a horrible person. All he did was stand up for a vulnerable minority and here you are with all the childish name-calling.

Meanwhile, GC "feminist" Julie Burchill is outed as an outright racist and misogynist, and you have people on here defending her and saying she occasional goes a bit far.

I think you all might be due another "are we the baddies?" moment.

You mean the 'vulnerable' minority who threw death and rape threats at JKR, despite most of them never having read what she'd written.

You're not fooling anyone. We all know where the threats and displays of violence are coming from and it's not JKR.

Before you start criticising JB, take a look at those who purport to be trans allies, who have called for the removal of single sex spaces and then been convicted of sex crimes, including paedophilia.

People in glass houses and all that.

HoldontoOneMoreDay · 21/03/2021 12:42

@toffeebutterpopcorn

Why did he pipe up now? Did he ever denounce the threats and vitriol?
It might be as simple as a response to a question in an interview that was planned to be about something else. I'd certainly feel mischievousness enough to do a follow-up on his previous comments in a new promotional piece.

But a pp has said he's just had a baby girl so it could be in reaction to that. A little bit of thinking sneaking in there. I hope so.

Never mind us, you concentrate on your own.

Exactly this - a reckoning is coming and the people trying to push this ridiculous ideology to children will be furiously back-pedalling soon once the lawsuits add up. Grint is a coward, Watson and Radcliffe the same - JKR stood up for women and children - that’s her “crime”, Its obvious who is safe and who isn’t.

teawamutu · 21/03/2021 11:42

Be quite interesting to know if they're being privately advised that, given all the sunlight, the fashionable position may be about to change.

Because I don't believe for a moment this comes from Rupert locating a backbone or sense of decency.

DIshedUp · 21/03/2021 11:16

He's right you can respect someone and disagree with them. Unfortunately he showed Jk Rowling no respect

RG came out with his statement slightly later than DR didn't he? When the abuse towards JKR was in full swing, he didn't just not condemn the abuse he added fuel to the fire.

Did he actually read JKRs statement? It didn't seem like it, he gave a very basic TWAW statement that didn't address any of the points in JKRs essay, if you are going to come out and publicly disagree with someone in the middle of a tirade of rape and death threats, the least I would expect you to be able to do is read and understand what it is your disagreeing with.

Hes a coward, I doubt he believes one Iota that TWAW, he saw the furore and thought he could get some woke points in to boost his career, whilst simultaneously throwing JKR under the bus. He's never stood up for trans rights before.

@Skyliner001

Thanks *@RufustheSniggeringReindeer* I appreciate that 😊
Oh good

I also appreciate that

Gosh this is going well...

PearPickingPorky · 21/03/2021 10:35

I suspect he's now read what she's written and realised he agrees with her.

He really is a snivelling little weasel, though.

Clymene · 21/03/2021 10:26

Your attempts at forced teaming are creeping me out.

Skyliner001 · 21/03/2021 10:17

😘

Skyliner001 · 21/03/2021 10:16
  • @Skyliner001 - are you accusing JK Rowling of being an abuser? That's a pretty serious allegation to make*

🙄🙄😊

Clymene · 21/03/2021 10:15

@Skyliner001

I was just seeing if you could see my tag, obviously you just choose not to apologise after accusing me of suggesting J. K. Rowling was an abuser.

All the best.

I apologise when I've made a mistake. I didn't.
PotholeHellhole · 21/03/2021 09:55

Julie Burchill has made a career of being extremely blunt in print. She's less call a spade a spade and more "it's something you use to dig with, you ignorant knobber". I doubt she's ever told a white lie to protect someone's feelings in her life.

So I'm sure she isn't TWAW and is somewhere under the GC umbrella. But I don't see why I should say the world is flat to avoid having the same opinion in common with Julie Burchill.

Skyliner001 · 21/03/2021 09:55

Thanks @RufustheSniggeringReindeer I appreciate that 😊

Thanks *@Clymene* I accept your apology 😊
Eh?
MazekeenSmith · 21/03/2021 09:47

@SunsetBeetch

And for the umpteenth time:

Julie Burchill is not a GC feminist

But then you know that.

Yeah she is though
MazekeenSmith · 21/03/2021 09:45

@StrangeLookingParasite

You keep trying to insist Julie Burchill is gc. I don't think she is, and I haven't seen her actions characterised on here as 'occasionally going a bit far.

Julie Burchill is definitely GC. She was cancelled years ago for sticking up for Suzanne Moore over the 'Brazilian transsexual' comment. She put loads of money behind the bar for attendees at the biggest Brighton women's place meeting. She co-organised the GC discussion with posie Parker and Meghan Murphy in Brighton. She's definitely GC, I've met her and spoken to her about it. Peep her Twitter and it's obvious.
PotholeHellhole · 21/03/2021 09:38

@Juliesipadwillcallyouback

Yes so funny that Julie Burchill could be a 'are we the baddies' moment, but actual rapists, paedophiles, and thousands of threatening and abusive messages are 'the most vulnerable and oppressed'.

Its fascinating to watch this sometimes!

Quite. Burchill is, as I understand it, the flavour du jour because of her behaviour on twitter. (We had a thread about it in fwr at the time, but it's been deleted.)

Okay. Now let's consider what else goes on over at twitter. I've literally just this minute seen a twitter TRA (who is themselves trans- ftm or nb? and pops up everywhere) tell a woman that it was "inappropriate" of her to have a miscarriage in a women's toilet and that she's weaponising her trauma when she says it was important to her that it was a female-only space!

FamilyOfAliens · 21/03/2021 09:28

@Skyliner001

Thanks *@Clymene* I accept your apology 😊
I don’t think Clymene apologised to you, did she?
RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 21/03/2021 09:22

And I accept your apology skyliner
