@AdHominemNonSequitur
I’m yet to see a definition of this ‘woman gender’ too, how is that defined, if not by stereotypes? How do you know if you’re the man gender or woman gender?!
Questions we’ll never get answers to I guess...

AdHominemNonSequitur · 21/04/2021 21:55

@Naunet

They are women. I don't think it matters how that sounds to you - the only thing that matters is what is

Based on what? Make up? Clothing choices? A feeling in their heads? A fluffy lady brain that is invisible to science? What makes a woman if not biology?

Only because gender ideology changed the definition of woman from adult human female to feminine gender identity without consulting any adult human females. I don't consent to the redefinition.

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

It's strange how stupid women are always assumed to be, really. I have never known a woman who was unable to tell a male person from a female person, even in poor light and at a distance, yet women are expected constantly to be deceived by men about what the man's sex is, at close quarters.
Isn't this because it's generally males who assume that women are unable to tell males from females?

And that's because males themselves have more difficulty telling the difference, & they can't imagine that anyone's better than they are?

As women endlessly point out, women HAVE to be able to identify a male at first glance, for safety reasons. Men don't have to, so they don't get enough practice & it's not as important to them.

Males have no idea what it's like to be female.

@Gottalife

So to sum up this logic.

Men attack women in women's toilets.
Women attack women in women's toilets.
Solution : Ban trans women.

 1. People born with penises commit over 95% of violent attacks, both against each other and against people born with vulvas. We can protect the people born with vulvas from 95% of violent attacks by making it socially-unacceptable for the people born with penises to enter the spaces designated for the exclusive use of the people born with vulvas and by normalising the right of the vulva-havers to challenge anyone perceived as a penis-haver. My own experience of being challenged is that it's no big deal because as soon as I reply, my voice gives the game away.
 2. People born with penises commit over 98% of sexual attacks, mostly against people born with vulvas. Penis-in-vagina rape is unique amongst sex attacks in that it can leave many of the victims pregnant. We can protect the vulva-havers from both forced pregnancy and most sexual assaults by having single-sex spaces as outlined under (1).
 3. These measures, like all security precautions, are not watertight. They make life safer for vulva-havers than it otherwise would be, so they are still worth having.

In normal times I regularly go swimming in my lunch hour at work. Whenever a plumber (invariably male) needs to look at the rubbish showers, a female member of sports centre staff comes in and alerts everyone in the changing room, checks they're ok with it, and then escorts the plumber in, whilst letting every woman who subsequently enters from poolside or the corridor about the situation. If it's a long job they close the wet changing rooms completely. This is how decent-minded people approach the concept of single sex spaces.

CongealedCrags · 23/03/2021 08:28

@Juliesipadwillcallyouback

You should start a campaign to ban male cleaners from women's toilets. Funny how that never seems to come up on this site.

What a gotcha!

Oh wait, no its not because if male cleaners are in a women's toilets there are always clear signs telling women this so that women can decide what to do, or the toilets are closed completely whilst the cleaning is carried out.

Thus giving women the choice to consent to being in an enclosed space in a vulnerable position with a man.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/03/2021 07:51

Oh yes! Those nasty male cleaners who put a sign at the door announcing their presence.

Are you suggesting transwoman should do this, for parity. Or all men with intent?

WhoWh0 · 22/03/2021 23:22

@gardenbird48 yes, because they have respect for the fact they are biological males doing a part of their work in a space that is considered to be exclusively for biological females. They respect that right to safe spaces and privacy for biological females. I often wonder why all humans don’t respect that.

Male cleaners close the toilets they are working in so a woman would not go in there when he is in there.

Sounds like you haven't progressed beyond the old "sex is a simple binary trope". You need to read more science.

We've discussed the science, and you were found wanting. But do post your compelling open letter again, I'm sure everyone wants to read a bunch of ideology motivated bandwagon jumpers who mostly aren't in relevant scientific fields sticking it to Trump by saying they don't believe in biological sex.
Hey, happy to post it again:

not-binary.org/statement/?fbclid=IwAR29fQ9nHtgrIWGMSsSdefR_OWPeMuZEmei0G3oEC31bAP_FThbngykjjtU

Anyone can simply look at the list of names and their disciplines to see if "most" are not working in relevant fields. You'll find that they are - it's right there staring you in the face.

Even when it only had 1600 signatories, it had already been signed by over 700 biologists, over 100 geneticists, and nine Nobel Prize winners:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-46067559”

Having just read the article and the letter, they don’t appear to be disputing that sex is binary (in humans), they appear rather, to be talking about gender and saying they don’t believe that is binary. They even mention sex so it does appear they aren’t talking about the same thing
” As scientists, we are compelled to write to you, our elected representatives, about the current administration’s proposal to legally define gender as a binary condition determined at birth”
“There are no genetic tests that can unambiguously determine gender, or even sex”

Shizuku · 22/03/2021 21:46

@continuallyconflating

You need to read more science.

Who are you posting this for?

You have repeatedly attempted to prove your points with journalists interpretations of research papers

When the woman on this board go and find the papers the articles you post are based on, and go through them in forensic detail pointing out they don't say what you think they say, explaining exactly why, you ignore them and just repeat your tired talking points.

"You have repeatedly attempted to prove your points with journalists interpretations of research papers"

Hmm, is that a bit like starting a thread about a rapist who isn't trans to make a point about trans women?

Shizuku · 22/03/2021 21:44

@CuriousaboutSamphire

I think you may have failed to join all of the dotted lines and jumped straight to a conclusiuon that is not based on what has actually been posted!

Men - should never be in female safe spaces. No matter how they present. Men, all men!

You should start a campaign to ban male cleaners from women's toilets. Funny how that never seems to come up on this site.

merrymouse · 22/03/2021 19:20

Trans/not trans is completely irrelevant.

Organisations are changing policies to suggest that people should choose facilities according to their own level of comfort, whatever that means to them.

gardenbird48 · 22/03/2021 14:24

I'm not saying he is trans btw. Just that you have no way of telling.

In the same way that we have no way of telling which male is safe and which isn't so we need to exclude all for our safety and privacy.

gardenbird48 · 22/03/2021 14:22

About as strange as the fact that none of them have pretended to be mtf either. The rapist in the op isn’t trans and has nothing to do with trans women yet here’s a thread reeeing about them as usual.

how do you know he isn't trans? Not everyone is 'out' you know. I think you are making a big assumption here pp.

hi Gotta

can you clarify which meaningful ways that transwomen differ from men please.

Obviously everyone is who they say they are so can you also clarify how we can differentiate transwomen from men who say they are transwomen for nefarious purposes?

Is there a 'tell' in the way that I can generally tell a male in a confined space even with my back turned?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/03/2021 20:43

But are single-sex facilities geared for 140lb insects?

Wondermule · 19/03/2021 20:35

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

Indeed. Maybe transwomen could identify as Paleopteran insects, to prove sex isn’t binary?

adviceseekingnamechanger · 19/03/2021 20:33

Why are we pretending toilets are segregated by gender? If they were, we would need 100 different toilets, so that neutrois, demigender, agender people etc. would have their own bathrooms. Except of course that isn't the case.

Toilets are segregated by sex. You use the toilet of the sex you were born with that is immutable, regardless of how you look or feel.

Women - of the female sex - have a right and a need to single-sex spaces. This is obvious. Trans women BY DEFINITION are of the male sex and therefore do not belong in women's toilets.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/03/2021 20:18
@Shizuku

Sex is binary. There is an X chromosome, or a Y one. Until a third is discovered, sex is binary.
You need to qualify that: "In the human species" etc.

Useless science with which to educate:
Birds, some fish and crustaceans such as the giant river prawn, some insects (including butterflies and moths), the schistosome family of flatworms, and some reptiles, e.g. the majority of snakes, lacertid lizards and monitors including Komodo dragons have ZW sex determination. Arachnids, Paleopteran insects, most exopterygote insects, (e.g. grasshoppers, crickets and cockroaches), some nematodes, crustaceans, gastropod molluscs and bony fish (notably in the genus Ancistrus), several mammals including a few species of bat (the hammer-headed bat, Buettikofer's epauletted fruit bat, Franquet's epauletted fruit bat, Peters's epauletted fruit bat, and Gambian epauletted fruit bat) and the Ryukyu spiny rat have an Xo system, in which females carry XX and males have either a single X or no sex-determining chromosome at all.

None of which is of the slightest relevance to human reproduction, but I thought I'd just get in first.
