SUCH great news!! What idiots they were but so glad they’ve been forced to correct this.

Last night Mermaids was still advising people to complete it in the way that suits them best and suggesting that it wasn’t compulsory to read the guidance - the government need to make it an offence to deliberately distribute false information/encourage lying in this way.

exLtEveDallas · 17/03/2021 07:38

Brilliant news!

midgedude · 17/03/2021 07:38

Yahoo!

Belleende · 17/03/2021 07:38

Ooooh I like this

"This case establishes that sex is a distinct concept in law, not something shaped by how a person feels, and that organisations need not worry about asking people their sex when they need to do so"

testingmitb · 17/03/2021 07:38

Thank fuck! Well done FPFW and all those who used up precious time and money to sort this mess out.

Cwenthryth · 17/03/2021 07:37

@HPFA

It appears this means the sum raised can now pay for other campaigns. Great news.
Yes - the ONS have now effectively made a £100k donation to women’s sex-based rights activism. A drop in the bucket compared to all the public money Stonewall gets but still a nice little tip in the right direction!
MerryDecembermas · 17/03/2021 07:36

Thank goodness

Clymene · 17/03/2021 07:34

I wonder how much this has cost the tax payer...

saltedcaramelchocolate · 17/03/2021 07:34

Great to hear. Flowers to everyone who fought for this.

justanotherneighinparadise · 17/03/2021 07:34

God this has made me smile this morning!!! Tell me the Twitter ratios are good?

Belleende · 17/03/2021 07:34

Woo hoo. Fab news but depressing that we have had to fight for this. I know Ian Diamond and he bleeding well should have known better. I will be writing to tell him so.

Clymene · 17/03/2021 07:34

@LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella

Really super news! I haven't completed mine yet online...does the online version have the accurate rather than fluffy question?
The question is the same. It is the guidance that has changed so that your Alex must be the one recorded on your birth certificate. So no self ID
ANewDawnANewDay · 17/03/2021 07:34

Well done FPFW!! Flowers

Flapjak · 17/03/2021 07:33

Great news. Hopefully this will pave the way for other organsations to follow, looking at you NHS.

Over600Ecalypts · 17/03/2021 07:29

Well done FPFW - that's amazing!

Scotland's census is in 2022 - hopefully, their one will have this version of guidance too.

StarintheMorning · 17/03/2021 07:28

Wow, that’s fantastic news. Very brave of FPFW to take this on. Congratulation to you, Nic Williams and all women! 🍾💐🥂

PandorasMailbox · 17/03/2021 07:28

Excellent!

I ordered a paper copy, but does this mean I can now go back to completing it online?

PandorasMailbox · 17/03/2021 07:26

You're making me blush @highame Blush

Wonderful news. This is really good and Pandora you are a Star. FPFW thank you so much and to all those who said 'it's only a couple of words' well, it really isn't

PandorasMailbox · 17/03/2021 07:24

@StopSearching

I wonder if this ruling will help to get crime recorded accurately now too?
This is a hugely important issue, and hopefully, this win will be the push needed to sort it out.

Great news!!

Whatwouldscullydo · 17/03/2021 07:22

Good work FPFW how embarrassing that anyone had to actually go to court over something so simple though.

What use is the information of its not factually correct.

risefromyourgrave · 17/03/2021 07:22

Oh, I filled my paper one in last night, I wonder whether they’ll want me to fill out a different one?
