Does anybody else think we NEED her to stay? She is the highest ranking FEMALE police officer.

I do, however, think she could at least meet with the vigil organisers and look into what went wrong.

Also she needs to make a commitment to making the streets safer for women.

And a hell of a lot of damage control - they've really pissed off the wrong people.

ProfessorSlocombe · 16/03/2021 16:18

And are the Met involved in politics and 'optics' now?

When have they not been ?

MarieDelaere · 16/03/2021 15:09

@LemonTT, I think that's such an astute post.

I suppose what I've been trying to ask is, how much of that Met carnage was choreographed, or foreseen, or planned, by police officers and strategists within the Met?

And are the Met involved in politics and 'optics' now?

Is Sadiq Khan in or out of the loop?

Were genuinely peaceful 'vigil-keeping women' collateral damage on Saturday night?

What is the relationship between Met strategists and members of S. Uncut? Has S. Uncut been infiltrated itself?

Just how murky is this?

LemonTT · 16/03/2021 15:00

I think there were a number of regrettable errors made in the run up to Saturday. First was the interference by the Met leadership in what would have been a local policing decision on a proposed vigil. This elevated the profile of the vigil and introduced a further complication around anti lock down and civil liberties sentiment.

There was also a growing discourse amongst commentators and the organisers themselves that it was to be a protest. This is a different beast from a vigil. I might be unfair but I wasn’t impressed by the way the organisers presented themselves. I was even less impressed by Cressida Dick’s public appearances.

Of course the Met had intelligence that the vigil was now going to be a flash point for protest and that would not be limited to women’s rights. The question to be answered was did the Met leadership make that worse or better by interfering in a local decision over a vigil for a murder victim. Why were they sticking to the mantra their concern was one of public health when they knew it was a public order issue?

Now Cressida Dick is saying that she intentionally distanced herself from the policing on Saturday night. 🙄 instead she left it to a man. In which case having a woman at the top doesn’t serve any of us well.

Cressida Dick is alleged to have the astuteness of a politician. But she seems to use that to protect herself not the public.

MarieDelaere · 16/03/2021 13:47

@HermioneMakepeace

I heard locally that some of the protestors were behaving appallingly at the protest and were swearing at and spitting at police. Has anybody else heard this?
Yes, they were male; and the Met must have known they were planning on turning up and disrupting the vigil. If I knew from public SM, then the Met surely did.

The Met physically hurt a lot of women 'policing' these male disruptors, but first-hand accounts say that the police, instead of removing the disruptors from the outer perimeter of the vigil when it would have been sensible to do so, allowed a few of them to push through as an excuse to then charge forwards to the bandstand and cause havoc.

Very unprofessional tactics - for some reason.

HermioneMakepeace · 16/03/2021 13:36

hoodathunkit · 16/03/2021 13:29

A man lost his head thanks to her incompetence. There really is no more she can do to get sacked.

While I would not wish to downplay the importance of an innocent man losing his life, I believe that giving credence to conspiracy theories that place innocent people, including police officers, all over the country at risk of serious injury and / or death is also extremely serious.

I also think that giving amunition to sinister networks that aspire to replace our judiciary with their own pantomime courts is quite serious.

Those courts, for the record, include the International Tribuneral for Natural Justice (ITNJ) - here is a video of former met cop and faux whistleblower Jon Wedger at the ITNJ

and here is a link exposing some of the batshit activities of the ITNJ here

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8211171/Exposed-conspiracy-theorists-claim-coronavirus-linked-5G.html

Why on earth would the Cressida Dick permit the Met's official website to provide ammunition to these insane people?

MarieDelaere · 16/03/2021 13:15

I'd like to know exactly what happened on Saturday night in respect of the Met's policing of S. Uncut. and what intelligence the Met had on them.

I mean, if I could read on Twitter on Saturday afternoon what S. Uncut were planning, as opposed to what local, peaceful women were seeking, surely the Met knew?

I have a horrible suspicion that elements of the Met have been extremely duplicitous. If they have actually been complicit in allowing S. Uncut to destroy a vigil, then I would say that's a sacking offence for all the police officers who were involved.

Trust has gone, at any rate.

VladmirsPoutine · 16/03/2021 12:25

Can't believe people think she should stay in post just because she's a woman in a very senior position. Girlboss feminism isn't something to aspire to.

SerendipityJane · 16/03/2021 12:15

If Cressida Dick was unaware of the situaiton she needs to ake a fast track course in learning about cultic activist groups and how they have society ASAP. Or step down.

hoodathunkit · 16/03/2021 12:05

Earlier in the thread I demonstrated that the Met Police's website has given credence to conspiracy theories about satanic sexual abuse of children. I expressed concern that giving credence to such conspiracy theories endangers the welfare and lives of police officers in the Met and in other police services.

In the below video, former Met Police detective Jon Wedger can be seen alongside women from the Crossroads Women's Centre (closely allied to Sisters Uncut), while Mr Wedger makes a variety of claims about the Met Police service being corrupt and failing to investigate VIP paedophile rings. Wedger's claims have been widely debunked by skeptical persons including campaigners against police corruption.

Wedger has also been busy fundraising for his dodgy "Foundation" and creating horrific "SRA survivor" videos on youtube that are likely to be enjoyed by people with an interest in the sexual torture of children.

The protest in the video was part of a number of international protests claiming that the state is involved in the kidnapping of children from their innocent parents. I will post more about this particular cospiracy theory soon, however it is worth noticing that a number of fake "International Courts" investigating these claims have been established.

These courts are closely allied to the Freeman on the Land and Sovereign Citizen movements. They all aspire to undermine the law enforcement and judiciary in many territories internationally and to replace them with parallel power structures, that is alternative law enforcement and judicary structures.

A second video is important. In the next video Mr Wedger appears alongside the notorious SRA conspiracy theorist and anti-abortion campaigner (he actually believes that abortions are satanic sacrifices) Wilfred Wong.

Mr Wong is currently on remand following his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of an 8 year old child at knifepoint, alongside various co-conspirators. Wong is maintaining his innocence based on his belief that he was rescuing the child from satanic cult.

I cannot discuss Wong's case as it is pending, however I would like to share an article about the the anti-abortion networks he is involved in

web.archive.org/web/20210117040708/HTTPS:WWW.OPENDEMOCRACY.NET/EN/5050/SATANIC-CONSPIRACIES-AND-BREXITEERS-INSIDE-A-BIZARRE-ACADEMY-FOR-ANTI-ABORTION-ACTIVISTS/

Please find an archived page from Wong's personal website in which he links to the strange statement about children being abused by satanists on the Met Police website to prove to his assorted fellong conspiracists that SRA is real (scroll down -right hand side)
<a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20210115055115/casra.org.uk/sra-in-the-media/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">web.archive.org/web/20210115055115/casra.org.uk/sra-in-the-media/

Apologies for the long post, I simply wish to demonstrate that by giving credence to claims of satanists sexually abusing children on its official website the Met, under Cressida Dick's watch, has been empowering some of the very conspiracy driven "activist" groups that have been assaulting police officers, spitting at police officers, shouting "shame on you!", "Choose your side!", ""Paedo protectors" and the like.

If Cressida Dick was unaware of the situaiton she needs to ake a fast track course in learning about cultic activist groups and how they have society ASAP. Or step down.

SerendipityJane · 16/03/2021 11:23

She was in charge of an operation that saw an innocent man have his head turned into pie filling by a series of bullets that exploded inside his skull.

If anyone is surprised that she's hardly fit for her job I can't think why.

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 16/03/2021 02:13

@sashagabadon

I think she does a very hard job in very difficult circumstances. Policing is overseen by two people in London, the mayor Sadie Khan and the Home Secretary prity Patel who as you can imagine are polar opposites and demand different things of police officers all the time. It must feel like being in a gaslighting abusive relationship to Cressida sometimes pulled between two warring parents neither of whom stick to their decisions. Last week the met was being chastised for not being robust enough. She has a lot of respect from a lot of people so I think she should stay.
This. It would be really ironic if the highest ranking woman officer is forced to resign over this.
NiceGerbil · 16/03/2021 01:36

Cressida Dick is a dick.

Was coming to post this

'Ms Dick noted that the MeToo movement had shed light on sexual abuse but said: “Speaking as a cop, opposed to a citizen, I’m interested in crime. If it’s a long time ago, or it’s very trivial, or I’m not likely to get a criminal justice outcome, I’m not going to spend a lot of resources on it.

“And what might be a misunderstanding between two people, clumsy behaviour between somebody who fancies somebody else, is not a matter for the police.”^'

Loads of other stuff. Can see Jean Charles menezes has been mentioned.

Met are my force.

She's no friend to women.

Iflyaway · 15/03/2021 22:23

In my opinion she should have gone after being responsible for the Met Police unit that murdered John Charles de Menezes in cold blood.

Absolutely agree.

Instead, she was promoted.

Un fucking believable.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 15/03/2021 22:04

This always sticks in my mind when I think of Cressida Dick

www.scottishlegal.com/article/england-metropolitan-police-scraps-policy-believing-rape-complainants

Not specifically the policy change, but this comment

^Ms Dick noted that the MeToo movement had shed light on sexual abuse but said: “Speaking as a cop, opposed to a citizen, I’m interested in crime. If it’s a long time ago, or it’s very trivial, or I’m not likely to get a criminal justice outcome, I’m not going to spend a lot of resources on it.

“And what might be a misunderstanding between two people, clumsy behaviour between somebody who fancies somebody else, is not a matter for the police.”^

I've been a skeptic of how good she is for tackling crimes against women since then tbh.

HeadPain · 15/03/2021 20:04

Oh other people have said it. I should read before

HeadPain · 15/03/2021 20:04

She was commander of the operation that killed Jean Charles de Menezes. She got a bloody promotion after that.

JustSpeculation · 15/03/2021 19:34

I'll be interested to hear the results of the "lessons learned" inquiry (if it ever produces any). I don't know if Cressida Dick is incompetent or just unsuccessful, but there is a lot of weirdness going on. Police complaining about how unfair life is on twitter and facebook. Really? Shades of Gilbert and Sullivan. Complete inability to pass a message from one side of a desk to another (in my experience). And Sue Fish, the former Nottingham Chief Constable, basically throwing her friend "Cress" under a bus on Radio 4 PM tonight. There seems to be a lot of bile going round, and "Cress" seems up for a fight.

Good. There seems to be a general collapse of cohesion, coherence and a clear sense of mission in so many public organisations these days.

Abhannmor · 15/03/2021 18:00

I still can't believe Cressida Dick was promoted to Commissioner after ordering the cold blooded murder of Jean Charles de Menezes. By contrast the policing of the vigil was just incompetent. Not helped by Sisters Uncut staging their bit of agitprop.

C8H10N4O2 · 15/03/2021 14:33

You can be the highest-ranking female anything and still not be good for women. (Cf. Thatcher, May.) Simply being female is crap, “girl boss” feminism that does a disservice to women

^This.

It was bad policing. The the vast majority were there peacefully, the numbers were smaller than earlier in the day and the next day. Problems arose when the police started trampling over tea lights and flowers to surround the bandstand having told (largely male) photographers to use it.

If Dick can't be held responsible for the layers below and the layers below were only following orders (which I've also seen quoted) and Dick has also been saying individuals were making decisions on the ground then the overall picture is one of mismanagement and poor planning and communication by the police leadership.

The anti mask/anti lockdown lunatic fringe (a bunch of white men) were left in peace.

rockingchaircandle · 15/03/2021 14:16

@HippopotumArse

In my opinion she should have gone after being responsible for the Met Police unit that murdered John Charles de Menezes in cold blood. Instead, she was promoted. This is not about blaming a woman leader, this is about holding a shit leader to account.
Yes this. She shouldn't be in this job due the death of John Charles de Menezes and the smear campaign that followed his murder.
hoodathunkit · 15/03/2021 12:14

oops

last sentence should have read "Dick was not the only female candidate on the shortlist"

Personally I want the person best qualified for the job and least subject to capture to be in post. Much more inportant than the sex , although it would be great for a female officer to be in post if she possesses the correct qualities.

hoodathunkit · 15/03/2021 12:09

The short list of candidates for Dick's current position included a high ranking female officer whose expertise was in online crimes and fraud.

I know next to nothing about her but we really do need senior cops who have expertise in these areas IMO

Dick was not the only candidate on the short list

hoodathunkit · 15/03/2021 12:07

Cressida Dick should go because;

Operation Midland, which caused unimaginable trauma to many completely innocent people, by giving credence to fantastical allegations of a high level satanic paedophile ring, even following their expert consultant Richard Hoskins’s strongly expressed concern that the allegations were false.

Incredibly not only have none of the police officers involved faced consequences for their actions but the official Met Police’s website has continued to promote conspiracy theories about satanic ritual abuse for many years as can be seen via the below archived link, where the text reads;

Abuse linked to faith or belief is where concerns for a child’s welfare have been identified, and could be caused by, a belief in witchcraft, spirit or demonic possession, ritual or satanic abuse features; or when practices linked to faith or belief are harmful to a child.

Any abuse that takes place against those who are branded (or labelled) either as a witch or as having been possessed by an evil spirit is unacceptable. Significant harm (including murder) can occur because of concerted efforts to ‘excise’ or ‘deliver’ evil from a child (or vulnerable adult).

From our own experience and in consultation with communities, we know this kind of abuse is under-reported.

Spotting the signs that this abuse exists can prevent escalation from ‘subtle’ harms that may often go unnoticed by many, to ‘extreme’ situations where there is loss of life. Witchcraft beliefs are used to blame a person (rather than circumstances) for misfortune that happens in life.

It can take place for some of the following reasons

and then, unbelievably in the “spotting the signs list appears the following statement:

satanic abuse which is carried out in the name of ‘satan’ and may have links to cults

source;
<a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20210115055118/www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/caa/child-abuse/faith-based-abuse/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">web.archive.org/web/20210115055118/www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/caa/child-abuse/faith-based-abuse/

This statement has been used by dangerous conspiracy theorists to justify all manner of stalking and other criminality and was even used on the website of the notorious anti-abortion campaigner Wilfred Wong to justify his “activism”, activism that has ultimately lead him to be in custody facing charges relating to the alleged kidnapping of an 8 year old child at knifepoint, an act Wong has claimed was not really kidnapping but rescuing a child from satanists.

Not only that but the Met Police’s website claims about satanists have been used to fuel Qanon conspiracy theories and have lead to police officers, including Met Police officers being accused of being paedophile protectors and satanists.

Met police being accused of being “paedo protectors” in the below videos created by conspiracy theorists

The truly horrible thing is that the Met have given credence to batshit conspiracy theories about SRA while being uninterested in reports about real child abusing cults.

One of the appalling things about the SRA bandaging of conspiracy theorists and grifters is that in among the manipulated and brainwashed vulnerable people are real paedophiles, cultists and criminals. The SRA claims provide cover for real atrocities

Cressida Dick should go because this long running insanity is putting the lives and reputations of innocent people at risk, providing cover for real cults and child abusers and putting the lives of hard working police officers in the Met and in other police services all over the county at risk.

Inexcusable
