Sisters uncut who are said to be a driving force in turning last nights gathering from a vigil to a protest are now protesting on behalf of “women murdered by the state”.

Two of these “women” are rapists who brutalised children.

How can anyone be ok with this?

Charities, movements, political parties... all need a clear figurehead and a very clear raison d'être.

'One singer one song' as my dad used to say. The message and original goal just gets lost when so many people are just shouting at each other and trying to direct the activity.

RtS decending into factions.
Didn't take long did it.
The usual if you dont agree with everything I believe and repeat the correct mantras you're making me unsafe and dont think I'm human.
So maddening.
Suppose it was inevitable really.

In fairness Datun Nimco Ali is gender critical. I think that she is a good advocate for women and girls

Yes she is!

I heard her speak at this ResPublica event and she takes no prisoners. She was absolutely straightforward about black feminism, and specific issues such as FGM - she's been called exclusionary & transphobic, and she pretty much laughs in their faces. A great woman & a leader, even at her young age!

There is such a clear conflict of rights if men can gain legal recognition as women....the GRA must be repealed, no more GRCs issued.
Males cannot magically turn into women, it’s not possible.

It’s clear to everyone that this ideology is harming young girls, massively more than young boys. Girls get their breasts removed, acquire male pattern baldness & facial hair, with a deeper voice for life. Boys get to win in the girls races & are celebrated for being brave.....

This ideology harms children and women, we know it, they know it, the people in power have been told-only they have the power to get males out of women’s prisons and stop the creep of queer theory in the classroom.

It’s blatantly clear what SU motives are, they don’t speak for women at all.

TheRabbitOfCaerbannog · 16/03/2021 12:27

In fairness Datun Nimco Ali is gender critical. I think that she is a good advocate for women and girls but I think for the government this is not a priority at all so I don’t know how much they listen to her.

Isn't she reported to be Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds' son's Godmother? Certainly a very good friend of CS.

30PercentRecycled · 16/03/2021 12:15

Honestly, why don't their heads explode with the deafening mindfuckery

I believe the head explosion is happening in Whitehall right now. The cognitive dissonance is dropping away.

The emperor's lack of clothes can no longer be brushed off with an embarrassed shuffle and mutterings about nudism being acceptable in many parts of Germany.

The nobles are noticing the growing public unrest at their mumblings about the emperor's lovely robes and denial of his hairy arse being on show.

More and more people talk about how the emperor keeps flashing them while smirking. It makes the nobles look like fools. The noble class can't survive if enough people think them fools.

"Will it work in Wigan?" is still a relevant political question.

Yes, and i'm not blaming Nimco.

It's the desperate hang wringing, which is across-the-board, at the same time as allowing the worst violations of women's rights.

The government are giving £45m to combat violence against women and girls, whilst allowing rapists to assault them in prison.

Siablue · 16/03/2021 12:05

@Datun

Nimco Ali, the government’s adviser on combating violence against women and girls, said that it is a “watershed moment” for No 10. “I would want to see things like sexual harassment on the street being banned. I want to see better education. And I really want to understand that we have a social contract that has been broken,”

Well maybe, and this is just a hunch, the government could start with not allowing rapists access to incarcerated women as part of their sentence.

It's completely ludicrous. All concerned about women's physical and psychological safety but perfectly happy to trap them in cells or on hospital wards with the sex class who are most likely to cause them harm. Gaslighting mendacious idiots. My eyes have done so much rolling this week.

@30PercentRecycled

RTS have implied that they won't give any of the donated money to organisations that are exclusively for females. They are yet to confirm definitively so far as I know.
They got quite aggressive with people querying this and people asking what exactly they had planned. Insults and blocking (and doxing threats) flying around (plus some serious deleting of offensive tweets)
ErrolTheDragon · 16/03/2021 09:18

Why on earth is this SU insanity not front page news? Papers usually love a story about outrageous lunatics.

Perhaps because the MSM actually has a bit more respect for women than SU does?

This mentions the 'controversy' part (and also I see notes SU's non-inclusivity of transmen)

Sorry yes it’s RTS - got confused as SU have their hands out don’t they?

Yes of course gift aid - but the donation money ‘lost’ because if the missed opportunity of gift aid.

JosieJarker · 16/03/2021 08:53

From what I can see from the RtS fb group, there doesn't seem to be a link between them and SU, some cross over of members probably, rts has 12k now.
Someone asked last night how to get involved with the protests and they were signposted to SU and extinction rebellion.

JosieJarker · 16/03/2021 08:50

Its RtS that collected the .5mil.
Not much transparency about where that will be going but SU want their cut, there are links to Twitter and Facebook upthread about the contension around the money.
Including info on how to get a refund.

Clymene · 16/03/2021 08:48

@toffeebutterpopcorn

Did I read that they had sc*** er ‘collected’ nearly half a million. Without telling anyone where it’s actually going and without bloody gift aid?
Only a charity can claim gift aid. They're not a charity. I don't think they have bad intentions but I think this has grown out of their control very quickly

munroclimber · 16/03/2021 08:43

Not sure if this was posted up-post.
Have SistersUncut done women a favour on the whole for enabling others to shine a light on male rapists and pedophiles in women's prisons?

twitter.com/zacgoldsmith/status/1371436985731198976?s=21

Zac as a male Tory is as untouchable as you can get and his contempt of SistersUncut is spelt out loud and clear.

Floisme · 16/03/2021 08:41

As even JJ has admitted, last night's protest was not about the murder of a woman or male violence but about the policing bill. I have to hand it to SU, the speed with which they have switched the narrative is kind of impressive.

Oh and spare me the lectures, I'm aware of the concerns about the policing bill.

334bu · 16/03/2021 08:27

Given the righteous indignation being expressed by one of the women at the meeting regarding the police ignoring her report of a sexual offence, I would hazard a guess that most of the women there would not support their anti carceral views.

happydappy2 · 16/03/2021 08:15

It’s clear to everyone apart from JJ, that SU do not represent women....they have an extremely unpalatable ideology that male rapists should not be imprisoned for their crimes. That if a male psychopath commits suicide in prison then that is ‘murder by the state.’

Just because SU infiltrate a vigil/demo, it in no way means the crowd there support them.

30PercentRecycled · 15/03/2021 23:49

I would be astonished if many women at the vigil were anti-carceral.

I think the women present would be deeply offended at the suggestion here that their presence at the vigil was driven by a desire to show support for NOT putting rapists and murderers in prisons.

Furthermore they were not there to remember with sadness the suicide in prison of violent male rapists as equally sad as Sarah's death. Really very not. Only the nuttier members of Sister's Uncut equate the two.

Why on earth is this SU insanity not front page news? Papers usually love a story about outrageous lunatics.

JosieJarker · 15/03/2021 23:45

Seems lots of people on the thread you shared agree with me also jj.
Bad taste to turn a peaceful vigil into a protest where they are centering themselves.

DdraigGoch · 15/03/2021 23:43

@MeltsAway

That Monty Python crew knew a thing or two.

Who'd have thought that slogans we laughed at as rightly ridiculous 20 years ago would now be taken seriously, to the point that women are punched, sacked, and have to raise money to take public institutions to court to clarify legal women's rights in this country.

I had a wonderfully cathartic laugh at that skit. THank you @ListeningQuietly

The next video Youtube pushed to me after the Life of Brian one was this part political broadcast John Cleese did for the SDP/Liberal Alliance in 1987. I think that the message about extremism has something which really rings true today.
