Sisters uncut who are said to be a driving force in turning last nights gathering from a vigil to a protest are now protesting on behalf of “women murdered by the state”.

Two of these “women” are rapists who brutalised children.

How can anyone be ok with this?

I seem to remember reading that ‘new’ people joined with a different focus - and older members bailed.

A familiar pattern.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 15/03/2021 10:55

Sisters Uncut are lowest of the low and aiming down from there. They nee as much sunlight on them as possible.

I went to a meeting once actually. It was very focused on meeting with the council re these cuts so not much about their ideology.

When was this? I do recall them being a real sensible group when formed in the 2000s. Are they still operating a sensible moderate campaigning wing?

WarriorN · 15/03/2021 10:34

Bold fail, I've copied the text from the tweets, last para my own.

*A note on some of the ‘murdered by the state’ transwomen entries here:

Jade Eatough- male who raped two teen girls, transitioned in prison. Suicide, not murder.

Joanne Latham- male serving life for 3 attempted murders. Suicide, not murder.

Jenny Swift- male on remand for murder. Suicide, not murder.

Nicola Cope- male serial rapist and child sex abuser. He raped 9 women. Suicide, not murder.

This is insane. We are expected to embrace these men who kill and rape as our ‘sisters’. We are comparing their own decisions to take their lives to women being murdered for just trying to walk home. I am so dismayed that women are retweeting this - mourning the suicides of rapists and murderers. What the hell is going on?

Just to clarify, I was wrong that Cope raped 9 women. It was 9 counts of rape against two young girls. One was 4 when it started.*

I've read elsewhere that patsy isn't a part of sisters uncut, but another group. Possibly 'women's strike?' Or SWP. Unconfirmed.

Okbussitout · 15/03/2021 10:29

Oh I just realise is it non covid times so the masks aren't for covid safety?!

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 15/03/2021 10:26

However dodgy Sisters Uncut are - and they most definitely are - it still doesn’t excuse what happened to Patsy Stevenson. I want to be clear on that.

Okbussitout · 15/03/2021 10:24

Sorry should have said I'm aware of sisters uncut as a group and I my area aware of their work regarding a women's refuge. I went to a meeting once actually. It was very focused on meeting with the council re these cuts so not much about their ideology.

I'm not gender critical but I do think there are some issues with sex based right. I know that you who are cg don't get how I can think this but not be cg.

Anyway watching this video it's really very hard not to see this as a bunch of men intimidating a woman/women. I also know that as a woman there is no pressure to look a certain way or be 'pretty'. But at times like this there's something a bit offensive about putting on some make up badly and wearing a padded bra. It's like dressing up as a woman. God that sounds awful. I think what I mean is if this group weren't telling women how to be women or feminists this dress up wouldn't be as offensive.

I'm not doing mega well today with my back and changing my anxiety meds. And in all honesty this is upsetting me. It just feels endless.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 15/03/2021 10:23

I do wonder if that’s why the police launched on a well part of it anyway. They knew that certain groups were there and there seemed to be a video of a man yelling about Covid, lockdowns (victim blaming on a new level of offensiveness). Looking at the photos that have made the front pages of the arrest ... I dunno... most photos I’ve seen of people being dragged by the police look like a creaming banshee, snot and hair all over the place with a look of terror. The lighting was superb...

If you look at other protests and rallies - the skateboard with XR protestors at illegal road/bridge blockades, kneel at BLM rallies (some of which got violent/damaging) and paint their faces and cars (and stations, social media accounts, websites...) and dance at Pride events (and have their photos taken patting ‘pups’ and then standing beside menacing billboards with laws that done exist on them). There are sacred cows and there are... women.

I would have loved to see a small police presence - they could have worn a ribbon or flipping flower - standing as if to be there to show their solidarity and as a protecting presence for women.

Is Patsy Stevenson (the woman arrested) part of Sisters Uncut?

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 15/03/2021 10:17

Am I right in remembering that Sisters Uncut were supporting Maria McLachlan's attacker?

Yes.

"#FREETHESHEWOLF TOMORROW & FRIDAY, HENDON MAGISTRATES COURT 9am. Please join Trans Survival, Trans Defence to show your support in and outside court for the trial of a young trans womanTwo heartsBlue heart support your sisters not just your cisters Purple heartGreen heart

And given their belief in anti-carceral feminism, it seems a bit ironic that Wolf’s supporters then called the police on seeing the two terrifying-looking women in the top photo approaching the pub they were in after the trial...

@thecatfromjapan

Who are the organisers of Reclaim These Streets?

Does anyone know?

From Twitter:

Henna Shah, chair of London young labour
Grace Jessup, freelance PR
Jamie Klingler, who runs a company training creatives and set up food things
And someone called Anna too I think? Probably some more

CharlieParley · 15/03/2021 10:13

Sisters Uncut started as a protest against cuts to VAWG sector organisations. Like many other feminist groups, their aims were subsumed in aid of first endorsing and then promoting transgender ideology and legislation. But unlike many other groups, they don't favour peaceful protest, especially not after they recalibrated their main aim to target not the establishment, but women's rights campaigners standing up for women's sex-based rights.

I encountered them in Edinburgh, where they stood, young men and a few young women, wearing balaclavas, screaming hate in the faces of attendees. I knew nothing about them then, but being called a fascist for wanting to attend a public meeting on the effects of a proposed law change on our rights seemed to me to be wholly unfeminist, undemocratic and unhinged.

Their behaviour was so threatening that police recommended we leave in groups for our own safety. When we did, they came nose to nose to us, screaming abuse, lifting their pots up to our ears and banging on them. Hearing-impaired attendees were very upset about that, but the whole encounter was distressing for us all.

That's Sisters Uncut.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 15/03/2021 10:12

That's what I assumed for a long time as well SirVix but apparently the "uncut" bit refers to the cutting of funding for refuges etc. I know, I was suprised as well.

Sisters unhinged are definitely banging the MRA drum louder than anything else right now. Like someone else said, how anyone could look at a male child rapist killing himself in prison and include that on a list of women killed by the state and still try to call themselves feminists is beyond belief.

Okbussitout · 15/03/2021 10:11

What's happening in the video or I probably mean what is th context? Sorry I've pulled a muscle in my back and I'm taking strong cocodamol so my brain is fuzzy.

PronounssheRa · 15/03/2021 10:10

@SirVixofVixHall

I thought SU were all men ? That the “uncut” bit referred to having penises ? Are there women involved too ?
I think the uncut originally refered to their opposition to budget cuts. But I think your interpretation is probably more accurate now they have been taken over as an MRA apologists group
IvyTwines · 15/03/2021 10:09

Thank you for providing this information. And I really wish the mainstream media would stop treating the groups who always hijack good causes as 'spokespeople' for a wider movement. Apart from the dodginess of some of the beliefs (misogyny and anti-semitism very much to the fore with some) it makes it very easy for the general public to dismiss whole movements as the work of professional agitators.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 15/03/2021 10:07

Hmmmm. Lobby group of PR company?

thecatfromjapan · 15/03/2021 10:04

Who are the organisers of Reclaim These Streets?

toffeebutterpopcorn · 15/03/2021 09:59

I think I they have nothing to do with Reclaim The Streets (the name close enough to sound ‘familiar’ to feminists).

AnyOldPrion · 15/03/2021 09:56

Are there links between Reclaim These Streets and SU?

And who exactly are Reclaim These Streets? They have a Facebook page, but don’t appear to be related to Reclaim The Streets, which is a different organisation. Both use the initiale RTS, quite possibly to create maximum confusion.

Are there legal requirements to setting up a charity and asking for money, or does crowdfunding undermine whatever rules there are?

SU sicken me with their overbearing and violent tactics.

MsSavouryPancake · 15/03/2021 09:56

They are despicable . Can you imagine the victims of these sex offenders seeing SU making martyrs out of them ? They are batshit . I hope the donated get their money back or it goes to the VAW charities that they believed it was intended for .Somehow I don't hold much hope.

WendyTestaburger · 15/03/2021 09:52

I think there are always women happy to support misogynist men.

This just feels like a power grab to snatch ownership of women from one group of misogynists to another.
