@2bazookas

A couple of days ago, Chris Witty and Patrick Valence were both giving evidence to MPs on the risk of outdoor transmission.
Both said the evidence now shows it doesn’t happen.

The direct quotes:

Patrick Vallance: “It is the case that it is difficult to see how things like large beach gatherings and so on can cause a spike. The same was the case in a protest march in New York. They did not really see any spikes after that.”

Chris Whitty: “I completely agree.”

So whatever view you have about protests, don’t use made up concerns about covid as an excuse please.
No, they did NOT say outdoor transmission doesn't happen, they said its lower risk but the more people you have interacting outdoors, the higher the chance of some spread. Here ;s the quote

committees.parliament.uk/oralevidence/1845/html/

Q22.40

what is the scientific basis of the rule of six?

Sir Patrick Vallance: We have said previously that the rule of six does not have some scientific absolutism to it. It is a policy decision based on minimising the number of people interacting. That is the case. The more people you have interacting, the higher the chance of there being some spread.

Sisters uncut supporters are on twitter criticising the peaceful vigil (and its organisers) and are demanding some of the money that was raised is sent to them.

Reclaim the streets would be insane to have an association with them

GappyValley · 14/03/2021 20:16

@Anitarest

GappyValley, of course I’m not saying the attacker was right. It’s never right to attack someone else and even worse to murder them.

Are you saying that people should have the right to choose which rules they should follow and which the can ignore because they don’t like them or think they rule is stupid?

Which rules are you claiming for broken..?

And please bear in mind, a high court judge refused to rule on Friday that attending a vigil would be breaking rules...

hoodathunkit · 14/03/2021 20:11

Am I correct in thinking that Sisters Uncut were involved in the assault by Tara Wolf on a 60 year old feminist in London 2 years ago?

They were there on the day and did not intervene to prevent the assault

Sisters Uncut appear to be an allied organisation to to Global Women’s Strike / Crossroads Women's Centre / The English Collective of Prostitutes et al

One example is here where @ 0.40 "Cristal" a woman pretty much on all the GWS protests is featured in a Sister's Uncut video

Did they go to this vigil in order to disrupt it and demonstrate against the police?

They certainly have form for provocative protests. They usually turn up any London protest event against the police but you need to know of their many front organisations to be able to identify them. They always harvest data, often by asking for email addresses and signatures on petitions

While they don't like the police they do seem fond of scammy police whistleblowers. In this video they appear alongside the notorious grifter and fake ex-cop whistleblower Jon Wedger.

They also seem to be involved, bizarrely and concerningly, in the novel organisation the Psychotherapy and Counselling Union

Readers may wish to check out the Psychotherapy and Counselling Union facebook page here
www.facebook.com/PsychotherapyandCounsellingUnion/

and see how many GWS posts you can find

Here’s one to start off

Sisters uncut are an organisation who support those who commit violence against women.

Posted too soon^ So yes, Sisters Uncut have their own agenda

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/03/2021 19:26

When thousands of us lay down in Parliament Square this evening, we did so in tribute to the many women who have been killed by police officers, in prison or in state custody.

Here are their names. #194andcounting

Thanks Sparechange for your comments and encouragement and will take your advice to continue pursuing my legal career, solving as many problems as I can.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 14/03/2021 19:16

I’m talking about central London
Sorry didn’t make it clear
From the vigil yesterday it has turned into protests in London today
I find that disrespectful ( not anyone in Clapham today )

NotTerfNorCis · 14/03/2021 19:12

Yes. They are TRAs through and through.

I came here to add my tuppence about the donations fiasco - people donating to certain groups without realising they are actually TRAs, then wanting their money back. TRAs are going apeshit on Twitter about that.

An analogy - you want to help people in a warzone, so you donate in good faith to a charity that is giving them food and shelter. Only after you've donated do you find out that the 'charity' is also buying arms for one of the sides in the conflict, and actually causing more pain to civilians than it's relieving. You obviously want your money back. Well... that's the kind of situation we are in.

Sparechange · 14/03/2021 19:09

@Lockupyourbiscuits

Disgraceful behaviour by protesters tonight Selfish and disrespectful to Sarah Go home and be thankful for what you have The vigil round a bandstand turned into a selfish bandwagon
What disgraceful behaviour is there tonight?

I came back from the common about 20 mins ago, and there were about 200 people standing in silent contemplation with 3 police standing about 30m back from them also silently.

Unless you’re on a different Clapham Common to me...

They certainly supported them in an outside court protest.

Did they go to this vigil in order to disrupt it and demonstrate against the police?

Yes.

ListeningQuietly · 14/03/2021 19:09

@rosetylersbiggun

Kate likely had a fair number of people with her, if you include her security team, her publicity team, her drivers, and the invited press and photographers.

There is very little risk of spreading Covid outdoors with everyone wearing masks. The police increased the risk of Covid by kettling women and forcing physical contact.

It's hypocritical to praise Kate but condemn the local women.

Kate Cambridge had 2 female security officers with her (very obvious in the video) the footage was by a Sky reporter who was there all day as were many many other press

I suspect they were as surprised as everybody else to see her march up
but as she's a former Clapham gel, her face told loads

if it had been PR, she would have smiled ....

2bazookas I agree, the mass meeting should not have taken place. You can’t choose which rule you decide is important and want to follow and which you think doesn’t matter. The attacker did that, and I hope no one would agree he was right. I do think the police handled it badly. There was bound to be an outcry if they tried to break it up, but they shouldn’t have had to handle it at all.
Um, correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read your post 3 times and you seem to be comparing the actions of someone who abducted, murdered and disposed of a young women, with people standing in a park.

Are you actually saying that? They are the same because they ‘choose not to follow rules’?

Sparechange · 14/03/2021 19:01

@nannawend

They were breaking the law!!!! End of. I wouldn't be allowed to take a group of my associates and protest in our local park. Why should they be able to do so. I do think their cause is good but their tactic are awful. How must the parents of Sarah eel knowing that her death has bought about this disgusting demonstration. These demonstrators have degraded her by not needing the advice of the Police and protested by contributing money to the fund, which could be put to good use in achieving our goal. I think these people has done a lot of damage to the cause instead of gaining more support. None of us should be allowed to break the law however good and deserving the cause.
It’s weird that you know better than the high court judge who said on Friday that he couldn’t actually rule that they are breaking the law.

You’re wasted on MN with your amazing legal expertise! Go and make some more expert legal rulings, quick! Think of how many other problems you can solve...
