I'm just angry all the time, anyone else?

I've loved this place on the Internet but have had to hide it in my topics for more than six months now because I was feeling more and more despondent and angry.
I'm desperate to come back properly but please can someone tell me how to deal with the rage? I'm literally shaking typing this. I know this is a personal issue with me being unable to deal with my feelings but I'm surely not the only one who sees the news, the updates from Scotland and elsewhere and just simmers.
How do you deal with this?

People are lighting candles for Sarah tonight since we can’t hold face to face gatherings.

If we all just speak to just one person who wouldn’t normally discuss politics/sex based violence/how society treats women... If we contact our kids schools and ask why, when they are killing themselves to teach our kids that you can’t ‘misgender someone’ because that is the worst evil in society - they are ignoring that fact that this is part of the whole treatment of women as ‘lesser than’ and consumable items.

Angry or want to cry. No other emotion at the moment.

WinstonsWeirdVole · 13/03/2021 11:11

It does feel dystopian, I completely agree. It’s the feeling of being constantly silenced (at work, in our ability to organise/protest, in medical appointments where certain issues aren’t taken seriously, walking down the fucking street... no aspect of life feels untouched). My daughters are still only little but I fear for them on a daily basis and it’s exhausting.

And every day another woman seems to fall. It’s like some dystopian film...

Flowers OP. You're not alone.

Yes. I'm in a complete state. Especially with the juxtaposition of Sarah Everard and the Scottish Hate Crime Bill this week, and the males in women's prisons hearing a couple of weeks ago. I'm just shaking most of the time.

BuffysBigSister · 13/03/2021 10:52

Yes, agree. I have been listening to Annie Lennox to soothe my rage. It's a temporary fix. Hopefully this link will work.

I read Izzard's comments about 'boon envy', and thought of my mum who has had breast cancer no less than three times, and my friend who had a double mastectomy in her early forties after breast feeding three children, and I literally shake with fury.

PandorasMailbox · 13/03/2021 10:35

I'm incandescent with rage for much of the time, but I try to channel it into positive things.

I became aware of what was happening about 4 years ago. I've since attended meetings, written to MPs, signed countless petitions and built up a network of like-minded women (and some men) onine and in real life.

I gather and share information on the bad things that happen, but also share and enjoy the victories. I truly believe that we will win this, but it's been a long hard slog.

Things have needed to get this bad so that they can get better. That's something I cling onto that gives me some hope for the future for all of us Smile

Goostacean · 13/03/2021 10:27

Yes. It’s got to the point that I cry from frustration. I’ve decided to take a break from the news, and any thread on MN that won’t bring me amusement/interesting (positive!) information.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 13/03/2021 10:27

Oh god yes, all the time! As someone said, if you’re not angry, you’ve not been paying attention

This place gives me hope though! There are amazing women here, I’ve donated to crowdfunders because of it and signed petitions and pushed back where I can eg ensuring what I write says sex where sex is what I mean

Without this place I’d definitely go 🙃🙃🙃

cheeseismydownfall · 13/03/2021 10:26

Absolutely, I can relate.

I have to consciously take breaks and close my eyes and ears to the whole debate.

hoodathunkit · 13/03/2021 10:25

oops

"same" should read "sane"

hoodathunkit · 13/03/2021 10:23

If you're not angry you've not been paying attention.

Usually I would recommend joining and amateur boxing club, great for hitting men in the face really hard, but being encouraged and praised for it by the very same men. Worked for me :)

It is not just a personal issue, it is a political and social issue, it is an issue of fantasy vs reality

Your feelings are appropriate as same people feel maddened by being in a mad world

Have some flowers - sorry best I can do right now
