Not sure how I feel about this but it's winding up the TRAs an awful lot.

I guess SuperLesbian is preferable to vagina fetishist or gynophile and at least everyone knows where they stand.

It turns out I'm a SuperLesbian

SapphosRock, along the same lines I think that facial feminisation surgery and surgical breast enhancement would be off putting for me and from an emotional and intellectual point of view I wouldn’t be attracted to someone whose values were so different than my own but I suspect that a functioning male genitalia would potentially elicit some physical sexual response in the right circumstances regardless, and regardless of whether I want it or not psychologically.

I can well imagine feeling an initial attraction to male secondary sex characteristics which have been brought about by taking male hormones in a clothed person but female genitalia wouldn’t do anything for me nor would anything surgery can provide.

For me sexual orientation is about sex. That is just the way it is and not something that I have any control over.

Interestingly I have never heard of any heterosexual woman being called lesbophobic for not fancying other women.

EyesOpening · 15/03/2021 10:24

I realise my comment loses something without the cartoon! I meant that what one person likes has no bearing on whether they meet someone else’s “requirements” . If that’s one of their arguments, then they’re really scraping the barrel and if they keep on like in the cartoon, they’re harassing them anyway, a simple “no” should suffice

SapphosRock · 14/03/2021 18:56

I am heterosexual. I can experience a sexual (physical) response to penis people regardless of what they are wearing.

This is interesting. As a homosexual i have a sexual aversion to the penis people, even if they are wearing feminine clothes.

Re the vagina people, I don't mind what they wear, but I would struggle with elective breast removal and facial hair.

Good to see so many supersexual people.

DaisiesandButtercups · 14/03/2021 16:11

Yes indeed nauticant that sounds just like it. Especially the bit about very high selectivity.

So complicated and special that I haven’t got a clue myself. Wink

nauticant · 14/03/2021 13:34

What, like superheterodyne?

www.sciencedirect.com/topics/engineering/superheterodyne

That looks like an extremely complicated sexuality.

DaisiesandButtercups · 14/03/2021 13:29

I am heterosexual. I can experience a sexual (physical) response to penis people regardless of what they are wearing.

As has been said before heterosexual women are all the evidence needed that sexual orientation is not a choice.

Not sure if that means I am superhetero...

AsTreesWalking · 14/03/2021 12:51

I'm so irritated by this - how can anyone think they have the right to even suggest to another person that they can be policed over who they fancy/don't fancy!
There is no 'right' to sexual partners.

EyesOpening · 14/03/2021 11:59

@SapphosRock

There's potential for a lot of mischief from this. Seen this TRA propaganda circulating in a few lesbian groups and one woman commented 'super duper'
That third one down doesn’t even work!
peak2021 · 14/03/2021 11:04

What an awful term.

PotholeParadies · 14/03/2021 01:53

Not just you. I saw an MSP going off on an elderly constituent and calling him a transphobe because he saw the space in "trans man" and imagined a transwoman. Then he innocently asked how such a person could have endometriosis or period problems.

Cailleach1 · 14/03/2021 01:00

Am I the only one who still has to stop for a moment to think what sex the person is when I come across the term Trans man or women?

I think it is a little bit counterintuitive. One would have thought a trans woman was a woman who was trans because they identified as a man.

PurpleHoodie · 13/03/2021 22:24

Pothole

Will add some causes to your other thread tomorrow.

PurpleHoodie · 13/03/2021 22:22

Lesbianandgaynews have a fundraiser going on.

Won't post a link, but have a little root around in the same place as Ann Sinnotts allotment.

PotholeParadies · 13/03/2021 19:34

Women Against Hate on fb have come out as supers.

I think they could do with a bit of being congratulated.

zanahoria · 13/03/2021 19:03

I think all lesbians are super lesbians considering the amount of nonsense they are dealing with right now.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 13/03/2021 18:37

So lesbians are transphobic if they aren't attracted to or don't want to date trans women?
Am I transphobic then if I, as a straight women don't find trans men attractive?
I mean as someone who has employed trans men and women and advocated for them I would find it surprising to discover this late in the game to find I'm transphobic all along. Should I be trying harder? Hmm

TheChampagneGalop · 13/03/2021 17:15

Congrats Sappho on your Superlesbianism Grin

"Our pussy, our rules" as someone sums it up on Lipstick Alley.

"Depends on whether you see

kilt=skirt=feminine stereotype => wearer is a woman regardless of what swings beneath the kilt, or

kilt =skirt = feminine stereotype => wearer is a male who is confidently breaks gender stereotypes."

Which is all culture dependent, of course. A kilt is a kind of skirt originally worn solely by men in the Scottish Gaelic culture (women wore longer gowns). Ancient Greek and Roman men wore tunics and robes - indeed the Romans thought wearing trousers was a sure sign of a barbarian. Ancient Egyptian men wore short linen kilts. Men in Polynesian cultures wore, and wear, skirts - Fijian policemen have a uniform skirt. In medieval Europe many men wore shirts with or without knee-high leggings. And so on and so on.

@viques

So where does this leave trans couple Hannah and Jake Graf, because I can’t see their situation on the diagram. And if I recall Freddie of Mermaids fame was in a relationship with another transman. Can’t see that either.

It’s all too confusing. It’s getting to be like vegetarians who eat fish......

I am sticking to superstraight.

They would be either be straight if only willing to date people of the opposite gender or pansexual if they were open to anyone regardless of sex or gender.

Not super.

The tip of the iceberg of that rhetoric:

lesbian-rights-nz.org/shame-receipts/

Here's another attempt to have a discussion on reddit that's likely to get banned:

HPFA · 13/03/2021 16:23

The #super tags have been extremely effective in bringing the rhetoric out into the open. And they're still circulating around Twitter very freely.

@Cailleach1

Does it change your sexual orientation if you can appreciate a man in a kilt?
Depends on whether you see

kilt=skirt=feminine stereotype => wearer is a woman regardless of what swings beneath the kilt, or

kilt =skirt = feminine stereotype => wearer is a male who is confidently breaks gender stereotypes.

(All this presuming, our course that what swings beneath the kilt has always been swinging there)

IMO a kilt is super sexy and masculine on a man. Super Grin
