I am glad we have confirmation that it is perfectly fine, under Article 8 of Human Rights Act, to ask someone what their sex is.

FedUpWithBriiiiick · 09/03/2021 14:26

The guidance is wrong! He said it!!

FindTheTruth · 09/03/2021 14:26

Judge: This meaning is not the sex someone has identified. I am satisfied that the guidance is wrong. It does not match the question being asked. /68

PronounssheRa · 09/03/2021 14:26

I've given up trying to work, this is far more important

Helmetbymidnight · 09/03/2021 14:26

More promising....

The tea I'm drinking isn't strong enough for all this!! 😬

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 09/03/2021 14:25

I am more hopeful. I think he is saying that the ONS should ask for sex. It’s not a breach of a trans persons human rights.

FlyPassed · 09/03/2021 14:25

I've got a meeting in 5 minutes, COME ON!

Ninkanink · 09/03/2021 14:25

Whatever happens, sunlight is being shone like never before, and sunflowers will continue to grow in their multitudes.

Thank you again to all involved in this.💐

KitchenFairy · 09/03/2021 14:25

I think it’s sounding good.

FindTheTruth · 09/03/2021 14:25

Judge: "I do not doubt that the ONS has the power to publish guidance on the census questionnaire. It is expedient for its functions. However, if guidance is given it must match with the meaning permitted by the act." /67

highame · 09/03/2021 14:25

udge: ONS said definition of sex is a matter for it to decide. The Census act does not prescribe this. "ONS is not the arbiter of what the particulars mean". /66

Xanthangum · 09/03/2021 14:24

This is good, no? JCJ: "This refers to ONS claiming that asking for sex would be a breach of Article 8 rights. The judge says it wouldn't."
