  1. Fair Play For Women VS UK Statistics Authority at Royal Courts of Justice at 10am
  1. The Court of Appeal and Harry/ We Are Fair Cop - The Court of Appeal will examine the validity of the College of Police Hate Crimes Guidance

I wanted to start a thread where any major decisions or outcomes and links to anyone live tweeting or online footage. See you back here tomorrow!

Dashing by - I can only hope the OBR has something to say about what this mess will cost whatever the outcome.

I hope for stern reprimands for the ONS changing its mind at best at such a late date - if we genuinely accept that no manipulation was intended.

I am praying for an exploration of the evidence base of the survey and who was surveyed for this late-breaking change of guidance.

Will we need to crowdfund the ONS' likely appeal to this as well as the fuller JR?

endofthelinefinally · 09/03/2021 14:47

I always thought the point of the census was that it was completed by everyone on the same day.

Faffertea · 09/03/2021 14:47

Whoop! whoop!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 09/03/2021 14:47

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine
The main hearing is the Judicial Review they are planning for next week. If the outcome of that was different then the interim relief could be set aside. The judge was considering if there was an arguable case that the guidance was wrong which he was satisfied it was. In theory the JR could come to a different conclusion once all the arguments are heard but I would be surprised. I believe FPFW are challenging whether or not the GRC should be used as well or just birth sex.

Fantastic result, and I'm adding my thanks to those who successfully challenged this, updated this thread and provided "translations". Would love to see "bobbins" enter the legal lexicon! Grin

KihoBebiluPute · 09/03/2021 14:46

Well done FPFW!!

Datun · 09/03/2021 14:46

Well done Nic Williams!!! Amazing result. Everything you asked for 💐

And I, for one, have my spade at the ready.

persistentwoman · 09/03/2021 14:45

@AngelaMerkelEyeRoll

There needs to be an FOI now to establish who the ONS engaged with which led to the change in position because in February they were clear that the census would record legal sex. Something happened between then and now which changed that position. Secondly how much taxpayers money and civil service time will be spent to fix this.

YES.

Here's a scary list of all the organisations that have signed up to Stonewall's personal interpretations of our laws that are currently being exposed in our courts Sad

And just about the same time as FPW tweeted that the interim relief was granted, the census twitter account posted THAT.

Fuckers

Me too! Well bloody done FPFW ThanksThanksThanks Have all the flowers!

PineappleCakes · 09/03/2021 14:43

Do we need to dig again, does anyone know if what has been raised so far will cover the judicial review too? I'm happy to dig again!

Sunkisses · 09/03/2021 14:43

Will the full hearing next week be before the same Judge?

langclegflavoredbananamush · 09/03/2021 14:43

Judge: I find it surprising that ONS says that1/5 of households have already completed the census when it is clear that census day is 21st March /75

I can think of a few more loaded words than "surprising" to describe this, but I don't think I could be polite enough to be a judge

bellinisurge · 09/03/2021 14:43

Fuck yeah!

Ninkanink · 09/03/2021 14:42

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude

It is a win on two grounds:-
  1. Data quality - no self determination of sex either birth certificate or GRC.
  2. The concerns raised about institutional capture have again been shown to be justified.
Yes.

Wonder if the civil service is now having a bit of a re-think on the advice it gets from being a Stonewall Champion - assume it is one, or if not, has very strong links

RozWatching · 09/03/2021 14:40

Take a bow, Dr Williams & co Flowers

greatpurplepolkadots · 09/03/2021 14:40

Will it be the same judge at the next hearing?

ANewCreation · 09/03/2021 14:40

That was worth every penny!
