Courtesy of the magnificent Debbie Hayton's Twitter feed.
This is the sort of hateful transphobic language people get permanently banned from Twitter for.
Full thread here: twitter.com/DebbieHayton/status/1367365939914813442

As she also points out, they ban people for stating reality because reality is the problem!

Anything critical of the trans movement/ideology is almost certainly going to get you in trouble. This is a shame as I follow a number of high follower TRAs for the comedy value (McKinnon, Chase Strangio etc) but you just cannot interact else they instablock or report.
My last ban was last Summer and it was in relation to the Little Britain removal from BritBox following the George Floyd death. I said something like, and a paraphrase - Little Britain took the p out of everyone. So it's OK to take the p out of gays etc, but you dare do blackface then thats it?
Banned

Maybe they just don't realise? These are all accounts following over a thousand other accounts. Stuff he says is unlikely to be coming up in the feeds and giving them that "oh hell I'm following a paedophile" moment.

Impatiens · 05/03/2021 01:08

What would they be scared of though - there's no way back for him politically?

I think he picked up a lot of Nigerian followers when someone found an old tweet of EJ suggesting that their former president was dead - lot of ppl wanting to know more but he never answered.

Doesn't explain all the other followers though. This is what happens when courts don't deal with such wretches properly.

PotholeParadies · 05/03/2021 01:00

@Impatiens

Pothole I didn't think Labour could fall any further in my opinion but they've just managed to. Seriously, WTAF are they thinking?
New leader of Scottish Labour is, an' all.

Are they scared of burning bridges with him?

PotholeParadies · 05/03/2021 00:59

Mixture of people who never unfollowed him, people who want to keep an eye on him, and a huge amount of troll accounts.

So many Scottish politicians are still following him. Bit shocked by that.

GrumpyHoonMain · 05/03/2021 00:59

There are several people sending death threats to an actress I follow - they keep getting allowed to re-register using different usernames (you can tell it’s the same users). So it’s interesting that Twitter will allow that but then block IPs for trans hate.

His 'sentence' - for a second offence of downloading the most extreme child pornography - is a scandal. He went straight back onto his Blue Tick twitter a/c and posts as if nothing happened.

@MissBarbary I don't know the answer to that. Twitter is a sick place.

PotholeParadies · 05/03/2021 00:49

I think he actually gained followers, because people wanted to quote-tweet him with "a paedophile speaks" every time he posted. They've got bored of it now.

But I've just checked, and the official UKLabour twitter is following him and that's not an excuse they can use.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 05/03/2021 00:48

Apparently it's not rape threats against women who don't agree with you. Or the phrase choke on my lady dick.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/03/2021 00:47

I once had a neighbour who got 18 months for doing the same thing as Joyce.

MissBarbary · 05/03/2021 00:46

Eric Joyce is a former Labour MP who has convictions for attacking people when he's drunk, including in the House of Commons bars, and for downloading child pornography- or to be more accurate downloading pictures of young children being sexually abused.

So I repeat my question- what sort of person thinks he is worth following on Twitter?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/03/2021 00:44

Eric Joyce is a convicted paedophile politician who scandalously didn't get a custodial sentence, who regularly posts on Twitter with replies turned off because of the backlash he would get. Twitter are happy to let him post. Hope that helps.

PotholeParadies · 05/03/2021 00:43

He's switched replies back on again, too.

Mockolate He is a politician who was publicly strongly in favour of mixed sex toilets, and said single sex toilets were a concept past their sell by date.

Since then he has been convicted for downloading category A images of child abuse.

Mockolate · 05/03/2021 00:37

Who is Eric Joyce?
Why do we care how many followers he may have, regardless of what side of the discussion you're coming from?

MissBarbary · 05/03/2021 00:34

@Impatiens

Eric Joyce has got 22K followers on twitter. Nice place.
Why would anyone want to follow Eric Joyce?

Me: "Take that, Mr Matthews. You said I'd never amount to anything, and now I have fourty followers!"

Mr Matthews: "that's sweet. I have 26,000 because of my winning combination of sarcasm, pictures of my falabella horse, and my political commentary. Also, it's spelt "forty", dear."

I got a deletion today for commenting on the general standard of SPaG from our incoming guests confused not sure what rule I broke

Just guessing but if their spelling had nothing to do with the post in general and was just a dig at them because they had a different opinion that'll be why
(fully aware this is probably a rhetorical question)

PotholeParadies · 04/03/2021 23:56

@Beamur

What is the advantage of actually doing Twitter? I occasionally look, but feel no interest in joining, posting or engaging on Twitter. It just looks like a tedious time sink.
Well, you can respond to people with mocking gifs.

Also, the dopamine rush and sense of achievement when you tick over from 39 followers to 40.

Cailleach1 · 04/03/2021 23:50

@LastRoloIsMine

Yep I have been recently banned from twitter for saying males are male from conception.
Robert Winston said something along those lines while speaking in the House of Lords.

Siân Lacey Taylder (hope I've spelt her surname properly!) got banned from twitter for supporting women's rights. So far, so normal for a day ending in -y, yes?

Except, Siân was a transwoman who'd transitioned back before some of the anime avatars hadn't even been born.
