Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Why don't we centre women?

This is a feminism board but 99% of the threads are about trans people or gender identity.

What about domestic violence, FGM, the gender pay gap, period poverty, and representation in the workplace?

It seems like this board believes the only threat to women is trans people.

Am I missing something?

Well I think that's answered my question about bad faith.

I haven't had to do spoon feeding since my kids stopped being toddlers, not starting it again for you now.

Yeahbutnaw happy too, but Im not sure what you mean by the word women.

Different people have different definitions for that word, which do you mean?

Lazy

Thought experiment .,.the main threat to women probably is no longer being recognised as women

For example , if gender identity is accepted as the meaning of woman that means that treating women differently to men is acceptable , because it's a real brain difference not just pesky biology

It also means that sex based rights disappear so rape , sexual violence and lack of women in public life becomes the norm

And treating none conformity with surgery that leads to sterilisation of those who do not conform

I think you can make a case here

Can anyone share a link to Threads where there have been discussions on women's issues that don't involve gender identity?

I'd love to have a read.

if the definition of women includes men then there are no women's issues there are only "people issues" so there are no sex women's rights there are only "peoples rights"

This.

Kit19 · 03/03/2021 17:45

sex based!

It's disappointing that you think the only threat to women is trans people and gender identity.

Read what I wrote again. If theres a bit you're not clear on I'll happily explain

That's not what 7Days said. I hope you are actually here because you care about women's rights and not just to post in bad faith?

Yeahbutnah feminism is for females.

Who are females? The current fight is about defining the absolute basics, what word a group of people can use to identify themselves from another group of people, without being accused of hatred.

Its shit, but its where we are.

I think maybe you are missing something alright.
Theres a lot going on with policy and law at the minute, even language, which has negative impacts on women.

Single sex spaces, for example, were brought in to mitigate against DV, rape.
Sex specific business and representative initiatives were brought in to deal with the sex pay gap etc.

If they are opened up on a self id basis, you'll have chances who want to take advantage, and a that work will be undone.

Even FGM campaigners get scolded and abused for not being inclusive enough to transpeople even though that horrific abuse is perpetrated because of the body. So they have to fight two battles instead of being supported.

You're right op, it's a terrible state of affairs and so bad for women and girls and their wellbeing.

It does get a lot of attention, personally I try to bump posts about other topics where possible. That's the best way to tackle it, post what you want to see.
