twitch and 'womnx'

I'm so confused about all the circularity of this my mind is boggling.

I do not like the word Womnx. I like the word 'woman'.

Seems the trans community doesn't like it either and they have branded twitch transphobic.

Absolutely, Rufus.

I find the inability to ever assume positive intent chilling. You can never just want to peacefully coexist. Everything is framed as an existential threat. Must be exhausting, no wonder this sort of activism makes people so cross and tired, the constant vigilance must take it out of you something rotten.

Two hours on an inclusive spelling lesson. Christ alive, they wouldn’t last five minutes at my firm.

@AbsintheFriends

I like to refer to Barr as Vile Transphobe Damian Barr every single time. It's like his title. He may identify as Captain Woke but his words say otherwise and he should drag them around like Jacob Marley's chain.

There's a priceless thread on the tweet OhHolyJesus linked to above.
Older, self-styled 'cs' lesbian saying 'womxn' has been her preferred word for 30 years (but she is still a woke disciple, honest!) and pleading to be allowed to keep it. The young TRA tells her, no. It's not allowed now and she has to give it up. Another 'cs' lesbian comes along and tells her not to argue. Just do what the TRA says.

Most oppressed ever.

That poster is learning a very nasty lesson, if she’s got any sense she’ll realise that capitulation is not the answer

The phrase used a lot on here of ‘meet me in the middle said the unjust man’ really resonated with me when i first heard it

The above thread is a perfect real life example

@AbsintheFriends

Also, this tweet.

I once spent two hours in an HR meeting defending my NB coworker's use of "folx" in a communique because it was important to them. People don't have monolithic experience with words.
How are you going to respect people's pronouns if you don't respect their nouns?

Let's all spare a moment to sympathise with the grown ups in that meeting.

Do you think the problem was the word, or the spelling?

Oh, this is gold.

We’ve come a long way from when all we could do was turn milk sour and make crops fail. What a brave new world it is when we can shoulder the blame for bullshit neologisms we didn’t want in the first place because the people who invented and attempted to enforce them suddenly decide they don’t like them anymore! Isn’t progress marvellous?

“Woman was first used in 2010” 🤣

Sorry, not Lass, I was thinking of someone else! MissBarbary.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/03/2021 10:09

What did he say?

I don't want to repeat it here but it's probably easy to find on Twitter. It was very callous and completely dismissive of a trans person's suffering for a cheap laugh. As Lass says, genuinely transphobic. Which is all a bit rich, really considering what he did to Baroness Nicholson.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/03/2021 10:05

but I still find it so unsettling how they can just write a completely bullshit lie in an article just like that?

Me too.

StanfordPines · 03/03/2021 10:03

And does man include black men?

StanfordPines · 03/03/2021 10:03

Has anything been done to the word man to include transmen?

HearMeSnore · 03/03/2021 10:00

Seeing as some people don't like it shall we start using womXXn instead?

Oh now that's good. I could get behind this idea Grin

MaudTheInvincible · 03/03/2021 09:27

Womxn wiki as was web.archive.org/web/20210302171104/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Womxn

BarbaraofKent · 03/03/2021 09:14

This is another example of how it is clear that everyone knows who really are the men and who are the women. GC feminists have been talking about womxn being a load of bollocks for ages, they are told to shut up and stop being so bigoted etc.

Transwomen start saying it's not inclusive of them and suddenly the whole fucking world is falling over themselves to erase any evidence that 'womxn' was being used, to the point where Wikipedia articles looks absolutely fucking ridiculous and nonsensical. People don't even care that they are making themselves look like complete idiots, as long as certain people aren't upset! It's pathetic!

I know Prick News is a load of click bait crap, and I have seen first hand them outright lie before, but I still find it so unsettling how they can just write a completely bullshit lie in an article just like that?

I distinctly remember unfollowing certain female Instagrammers for the constant use of 'womxn' in their quest to be 'most woke', with one explaining to a follower who asked what it meant that 'it is a word to be more inclusive of transwomen and women of colour'.

aliasundercover · 03/03/2021 09:13

Women was first used in 2010....

There are probably a few young wokesters who will believe that

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 03/03/2021 08:39

Wikipedia has been hastily edited to change Womxn to woman / women and ended up with the nonsense sentence “Women was first used in 2010

Bah ha ha

OhHolyJesus · 03/03/2021 08:30
