I saw Penny Mordaunt's TWAW/TMAM as an appeal to house members to remember the dogma despite discussing a bill that is firmly in the realm of biological reality. Can't have anyone snapping out of the trance can we?

RozWatching · 01/03/2021 18:12

@LizzieSiddal

Did Penny Mordant really say that?

iirc she was saying this when she was Women's and Equalities Minister under May.

Yes, she even said it in her MN chat. Probably kept her coat on then as well Grin

Freddy is not happy at how little media coverage of this there has been and a mate has offered to try and get something onto ITV Meridian for Freddy.

I haven't worked out how to work our tv channels yet so I won't be watching.

MichelleofzeResistance · 01/03/2021 18:10

Were there any GC voices in that? Any balance really?

It's very clear isn't it, with the constant dragging up of TW, this is so not about women's maternity rights and needs and this bill on those terms is of no interest to Mordaunt and co: to them, the only point of interest is about the necessity of separating the word 'woman' from anything sex based or biological. Which is not being done for or with the faintest regard to anyone born female.

Gynephobia on crack.

RozWatching · 01/03/2021 18:09

@Xanthangum

Penny Mordant just said TWAW?
File under #MordauntFacts.

Thank fuck that's over.

TheLaughingGenome · 01/03/2021 18:09

Penny Mordaunt's constituency office might have a view on her. I think there are some very pressing issues in Portsmouth North that she's ignoring for this ridiculous sycophant cosying up to Blunt.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 01/03/2021 18:09

Mordaunt

Kit19 · 01/03/2021 18:08

its quite astonishing in a bill that is literally about women and something only women can do, how often Trans has been mentioned in a bill that is nothing whatsoever to do with trans issue. What do they think happens to them if they dont mention trans enough? do they think some kind of glitter monster will appear and hit them with rainbows?

LizzieSiddal · 01/03/2021 18:08

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 01/03/2021 18:08

Penny Mordant is a disgrace.

LizzieSiddal · 01/03/2021 18:07

Shame Joanna Cherry didn't get to speak- I was very much looking forward to listening to her.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 01/03/2021 18:06

Did Penny Mordant really say that?

How do we complain too?

Endofthelinefinally · 01/03/2021 18:06

We are. For now.

gardenbird48 · 01/03/2021 18:05

@LizzieSiddal

Well thank goodness for that- we shouldn't have to struggle for it though.
I am still a bit gobsmacked that they passed it but that is how low my expectations are.

Penny Mordaunt - just disappointing though.

SirSamuelVimes · 01/03/2021 18:05

Ah, cross post, sorry.

SirSamuelVimes · 01/03/2021 18:04

I couldn't face listening to this. Are we allowed to call mothers mothers or not?

LizzieSiddal · 01/03/2021 18:04

Well thank goodness for that- we shouldn't have to struggle for it though.

ArabellaScott · 01/03/2021 18:03

Passed, begrudgingly. Fuckers.

gardenbird48 · 01/03/2021 18:03

amendments are 'more inclusive' than other wording that was put forward - what alternative wording was put forward?

Is this to do with 'woman'?

ArabellaScott · 01/03/2021 18:03

'someone will mention TW even though this right here is nowt to do with them'

They are giving TW a lot of airtime for a bill that will never, ever apply to them.

yourhairiswinterfire · 01/03/2021 18:01

Ah shit, I forgot to add 'someone will mention TW even though this right here is nowt to do with them' to my bingo card!

Cuntysnark · 01/03/2021 18:01

I just heard that. I’m sending her a card & it might not be a thank you card.

BattyOrange · 01/03/2021 18:00

'but of course, I was very, very, drunk'

Perfect! Grin

Endofthelinefinally · 01/03/2021 18:00

"All Women" Eye roll.

SantaNameChange · 01/03/2021 18:00

What a stupid thing to say - what does it mean
