Interesting how stuff like this garners no response from the "just be kind" crowd.

Its like they know that if the acknowledge shit like this is outrageous and damaging then they might have to acknowledge that the rest of it is too.

PronounssheRa · 27/02/2021 08:07

Andrew Doyle just covered this on sky news paper review.

Cwenthryth · 27/02/2021 07:58
**@Xanthangum* - that link is absolutely terrifying. Children as young as twelve* prescribed puberty blockers?! How do they manage to circumvent the recent ruling??
Children as young as 12 prescribed cross sex hormones. They’ve prescribed PBs as young as 10.

Cwenthryth · 27/02/2021 07:57

It’s a regulatory issue - we are allowing EU prescriptions to be filled in the U.K., despite EU practitioners not having to work within U.K. regulation.

Am a bit surprised Brexit hasn’t put paid to it tbh, but I’d hazard a guess it might not be too difficult to close this loophole now we are out of the EU. I don’t know, IANAL.

There will always be ways around things though - plenty of women in genuine need import B12 injections or thyroid medications into the U.K. from abroad as our healthcare system tends to let them down. (Diagnosis: woman, get on with it). There are hundreds of medications that are restricted by medical prescription in the U.K., that in other countries you can just walk into a pharmacy and buy over the counter no questions asked. There will always be a way around - so regulation alone can’t be relied upon to safeguard vulnerable young people.

Interesting that the article mentioned that H Webberly faces a hearing with the GMC in July.

ArabellaScott · 27/02/2021 07:50

Looks like the GenderGP rebuttal has been archived.

I suppose they have no choice but to try to justify their actions. Procedure and best practise don't seem to have got in the way before.

FindTheTruth · 27/02/2021 07:50

“substantive” General Medical Council hearing in July...

AnyOldPrion · 27/02/2021 07:48

Bizarrely, they appear to have issued a rebuttle that confirms nearly every detail to be true.

Is it bizarre, or might it be a case of using the publicity to advertise their services to more potential patients?

InsideNumberNine · 27/02/2021 07:45

@Xanthangum - that link is absolutely terrifying. Children as young as twelve prescribed puberty blockers?! How do they manage to circumvent the recent ruling??

Xanthangum · 27/02/2021 07:45

Yes it does:

Founder's controversial past
GenderGP is no stranger to controversy. Its founder, GP Dr Helen Webberley, has been suspended by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service since 2018 after she prescribed hormones to a child aged 12 – although no finding of fact has been made against her practice.

She was later fined for running an unlicensed trans clinic from her home in Monmouthshire, and is due to face a “substantive” General Medical Council hearing in July.

Eventually, she relocated to Spain and the company was reinvented as a complex international structure which navigates around the rules in England and Wales, and exploits a loophole which makes prescriptions signed by doctors registered anywhere in the EU valid for use at British pharmacies.

highame · 27/02/2021 07:44

I would say 'oh perhaps the police should be involved' but the police are captured, so they would be coming after whoever reported them Confused

Cwenthryth · 27/02/2021 07:43

They seem to see themselves as some kind of saviour/hero/revolutionary. Personally I see them as exploiting vulnerable people for their own financial gain and kudos. Which I find pretty disgusting. Nearly £700 for 3 Skype calls and a prescription to be sent??? For a minor without her own means of income, relying on a university student to pay for her?? I think that probably doesn’t even include the medication itself btw - you would pay the pharmacy directly for that, I’ve filled private prescriptions in the U.K. several times and that’s how it worked. But that level of cost is pretty eye watering profiteering.

Gcnq · 27/02/2021 07:40

Does the article mention the Webberlies? And how they were stuck off in the UK? So moved to Spain or somewhere?

MangoSeason · 27/02/2021 07:36

Horrifying. If I wasn’t born in the 1970s, I would have been one of these children buying this poison online.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 27/02/2021 07:33

Could someone also archive the rebuttal by gendergp? The protections on my computer don’t let me access the archive site for some reason. Very important to capture what is said.

Xanthangum · 27/02/2021 07:30

Bizarrely, they appear to have issued a rebuttle that confirms nearly every detail to be true.

It's like they are proud of being outlaws, fighting the good fight etc etc. Arrogant as well as deluded and dangerous.

unwashedanddazed · 27/02/2021 00:25

They seem particularly focused on making sure the fictional half-brother will pay for the treatment. I wonder what happened to that crowd funding they started after the Bell case, meant to 'help' patients with no income - just like this fifteen year old.

JosieJarker · 26/02/2021 23:37

'Trans boys make up the overwhelming majority of the young people I work with as a therapist'.
Well no shit.
Wasnt there supposed to be an enquiry into the 4000% increase in teenage girls presenting at gender clinics?
What happened to it?

teawamutu · 26/02/2021 23:30

Came in to see if anyone had posted the archive link. Even with my low expectations, unbelievable.

And of course Mermaids are mentioned. Of course they are.

ArabellaScott · 26/02/2021 22:10

Lead counsellor Marianne Oakes' describes their areas of expertise on their counselling profile:

'Transgender, Gay, Lesbian and Bisexuality, sexuality, Kink, Polyamory, adults and young people all ages and generations'

And a quote from Oakes in an article in the Metro:

'Trans boys make up the overwhelming majority of the young people I work with as a therapist'.

Surely to goodness this is illegal? Does this mean that children can effectively just call up and order any drugs they wish, if it comes from abroad?

Melroses · 26/02/2021 21:53

Well, as long as the 20 year old half brother will cough up the dosh.

What a racket Hmm

nauticant · 26/02/2021 21:53

I would welcome comments by any trans widows looking in:

FindTheTruth · 26/02/2021 21:52

that suicide is heartbreaking. 'He was just living for the day he would just be a proper boy."'

JosieJarker · 26/02/2021 21:51

Actually scrap that, I hope she ends up in prison where she clearly belongs.
I dont understand how they are getting away with this, especially in light of the Bell case.
