Shahrar Ali is great, and gc. He stood for leader or co-convenor or whatever, but didn't get in, unfortunately.

Cwenthryth · 05/03/2021 08:00

That’s mildly interesting in terms of internal Green Party politics but sadly completely irrelevant in terms of real world practicality! They’re calling on the CQC to ‘debar’ them - is that even a thing that the CQC can do? They’re now an international outfit.

MiddlesexGirl

Just coming to post this too. I wonder though what impact this might have considering the new women’s co-chair is an advisor or counselor, for the company. Will that person have the influence to shut down the meeting.

Shahrar Ali proposing an emergency motion at the Green Party to debar GenderGP from operating in the UK.

I'm not sure how that works practically but interesting that there are some in the Green Party prepared to protect children.

I must admit, I'm very surprised to see any attempt to safeguard children or to risk the wrath of TRAs coming from the greens. Pleased but surprised.

@gardenbird48

They are still actively advertising their services to under 16s!!

Today’s tweet. Puberty blockers, hormones - whatever. Just unbelievable!!

The NSH? Don't they bother to proof-read their tweets before they post them? I suppose it's a metaphor for the quality and care the rest of GenderGP's work shows.

I'm surprised they call providing drugs with no safeguards, evidence base, assessments or meaningful consent healthcare. It seems to me more like dealing or pushing.

I should have added the link to back up that previous quote.

Archived version of the Times article. Headline It feels like conversion therapy for gay children, say clinicians
Ex-NHS staff fear that homophobia is driving a surge in ‘transgender’ young people

From 2019 and here we are still Angry

ArabellaScott · 01/03/2021 16:33

Where are our usual friendly TRAs? Have they no comment on the GenderGP service?

ArabellaScott · 01/03/2021 16:33

All the TRAs that go on about how we're overreacting because under 18s don't get cross sex hormones in the UK ... how many are treated by GenderGP?

Whatwouldscullydo · 01/03/2021 16:32
Shock
Sexnotgender · 01/03/2021 16:30

Oh god that’s awful @yourhairiswinterfire 😱

People aren’t just looking the other way, they’re actually cheering this shit on.

yourhairiswinterfire · 01/03/2021 16:15

So essentially, anyone could get blockers for a child and theoretically give them without the child knowing? Not a total safeguarding disaster at all...

This was from one of the female clinicians from a Times article:

One case has haunted her. “All the pushing was coming from the father to put the kid on puberty blockers. Thinking back on it now, I fear that the father was a paedophile and the child was being abused.” There is no suggestion the service knowingly ignored the case, and the outcome is unknown.

I don't doubt paedophiles will abuse this. It's so easy for them, no having to go to a clinic with a child who might slip up and say the wrong thing, no ''gatekeepers'' stopping them.

This is like watching a car crash happening in slow motion and everyone is deliberately looking the other way and pretending they can't see it happening. It's sick.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/03/2021 16:01

I noticed this in the new one

If Alfie was to access puberty blockers at 12, she shouldn't be on until she's 16… That's where damage is caused to bone density. And that's where it can be dangerous."

Is there any evidence that a child can go through a "proper" puberty when on cross-sex hormones - is their any evidence that cross-sex hormones solve the bone density problem?

Sexnotgender · 01/03/2021 15:59

@umbel

WTAF!! They would prescribe PB for a child they had never seen? Surely that’s a giant paedophile klaxon?
Bizarrely, they appear to have issued a rebuttle that confirms nearly every detail to be true.

It's like they are proud of being outlaws, fighting the good fight etc etc. Arrogant as well as deluded and dangerous.

www.gendergp.com/uk-media-promotes-climate-of-fear-for-trans-youth-gendergp-telegraph-response/
Good grief - the fact that they produce this as a rebuttal!! Its almost like an unregulated advert for the services they provide. In who’s world are any of their responses acceptable?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/03/2021 15:16

That's PBs and oestrogen. Testosterone is already a controlled drug.

Thanks, WhatKatyDidNot

Akela64 · 01/03/2021 14:43

Wonder what JoMo and GLP have to say about this?

ArabellaScott · 01/03/2021 13:55

Ah, okay. It's paywalled, so I can't check!

Xanthangum · 01/03/2021 13:54

Yesterday's date but 9pm, so for today's paper I think

ArabellaScott · 01/03/2021 13:43

Is that not the old one, OldCrone? Date is yesterday.

I think this is the new Telegraph article.

Telegraph investigation team follow up today to GenderGP.

I haven't identified it yet on the online version but will post link if I do.There is a trailer on the front page "Childeren can avoid GP for sex-change drugs" and on page 8 "No doctor's meeting for sex-change drugs".

DT says that in the second part of their investigation reporters posed as parents of a 12 year old boy who approached GenderGP and had two online appointments with a counsellor and one with a doctor. The child was not present. The counsellor and doctor were simply told he identified as female: the counsellor said they would not necessarily have to speak to a doctor before their child started puberty blockers. They elected to book a consultation anyway with a doctor but were told by that doctor that the 12 year old could potentially obtain puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones without ever having an appointment with a GenderGP doctor.

Be interesting where the investigation goes from here.....

I find it hard to understand why this company is allowed to operate. Have medical ethics been dumped as a concept?
