Staniland Question is so good. Can we think of others?

The Staniland question:
Do you believe that male-sexed people have the right to undress and shower in a communal changing room with teenage girls?
is so clever. The fact that so many people refuse to engage with it - let alone answer it - means it's a quick, powerful, way of showing how ridiculous the TWAW position is.

Can we think of any others that would be as effective? Maybe we could come up with 5 or so really sharp questions that TRAs could refuse to answer. My first thoughts are something along the lines of:
Why is it racist to identify as another race but stunning and brave to identify as another sex?
I'm sure somebody can word that better.

So any suggestions? The questions need to be short and clear.

The clown emoji was a bit of a clue. 😁

Sorry it didn't show up on my screen. Also feeling a bit touchy about this subject as I had read through Hibo' s tweeter feed and oh my god I knew it was bad but no words!

No one thinks it should deserve "credit"

ppappyon has tried to disgyuise their opinion in confusing language, but the answer is clear: ppappyon thinks that male-sexed people have the right to undress and shower in a communal dressing room with teenage girls.

@334bu

*Well yes, if TW are saying they can also claim the word 'female' for themselves, perhaps FGM might include circumcision.*

I hope this is sarcasm as there is really no comparison between the absolute barbarity of FGM and circumcision, distressing though it might be.

The Stanniland question is very easy to answer: nobody has a right to undress in front of anyone, neither legally nor morally. In truth, there are “societal understandings”; a kind of broader version of the “gentlemen’s agreement”. For example, we understand that a happily married couple consent to be naked in each other’s presence. There is no legal or moral right to that, nor is there any form of implied consent simply because they are married. It is understood because of the nature of the arrangement. Either party can contest that understanding at any point.
In the same vein, it is understood that if you enter a changing room, you consent to be naked in front of whoever is permitted to be in there.

@Bluesername

Should people be able to self-identify as trans-age so they can go back to school/youth club or claim their pension sooner than they would otherwise? Should the date on their birth certificate be changed accordingly?

Should people be able to self-identify as 'trans-height' so they can bypass the safety limits of that funfair ride?

Should people be able to self-identify as having a different blood group than the one they were born with, because they feel they were 'born with the wrong blood group'?

Trans-age has been done- this 6 year old girl was adopted by a family in Canada: www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/stefonknee-wolschtt-transgender-father-leaves-family-toronto-start-new-life-six-year-old-girl-a6769051.html%3famp

[quote 334bu]Should we replace Female in FGM with People because some people think talking about women and girls with regard to FGM is transphobic?

I think it's because a lesbian either has to have or like penis. Any hint of not liking penis is bad so they can't just simply be referred to as a lesbian. Need a hint of bad character or 'not really a lesbian' to go with it

ArabellaScott · 20/02/2021 19:18

a "self identified lesbian"

They can't say it, can they? It's like the word lesbian has to be handled with quote marks so as not to dirty their lily-white hands.

wellthatsunusual · 20/02/2021 19:08

Are babies transphobic for being able to tell the difference between men and women?

MrsSteveMcDonald · 20/02/2021 18:20

Why are women told that we're safe from predatory males because cubicles in toilets/changing rooms have locks and if something were to happen then we can call the police afterwards but the same doesn't apply to transwomen in the mens?

alifemoreorlessordinary · 20/02/2021 18:06

so, when looking to rehome a dog, and it says "no children, men or other pets" how is "men" defined"? eg "anything that isn't female"? Could I say "we all identify as women" and I get my dog. Confused. How do dogs know the difference between "men" and "women"??

334bu · 20/02/2021 15:25

Should a deceased lesbian artist be described as non binary and then as a " self identified lesbian" who might have considered being non binary if the term had existed when they were alive, by museum curators who should have known better.?

@Cloudyz7

If a transgirl attends Guides and on an overnight trip is placed in a room with another Guide. Teenage hormones get the better of them and one of the Guides ends up pregnant.

What rules / guidelines / safeguarding measures should be put in place to ensure this never happens again?

Good one.
334bu · 19/02/2021 18:11

When considering allowing male bodied people to use female safe spaces, should organisations not first ask the female service users whether they are ok with it?

Flapjak · 19/02/2021 18:07

Can biological woman identify as transwomen

If transwomen are women , the women are transwomen surely?

Delphinium20 · 19/02/2021 18:06

@NotBadConsidering

a) Can a child at 12 make an informed decision about having sex at the present time?

b) can a child at 12 make an informed decision about having sex 10 years into their future?

I like this one!

@Darcinian

Who was it who said something like pimps, priests and punters don't seem to have any trouble knowing who is a woman?

Excellent quote whoever it was.

334bu · 19/02/2021 12:08

Do you think a birth certificate should be a legal document recording fact, or a 'social' document recording someone's feelings and/or opinion?

I think I like this one
