Staniland Question is so good. Can we think of others?

The Staniland question:
Do you believe that male-sexed people have the right to undress and shower in a communal changing room with teenage girls?
is so clever. The fact that so many people refuse to engage with it - let alone answer it - means it's a quick, powerful, way of showing how ridiculous the TWAW position is.

Can we think of any others that would be as effective? Maybe we could come up with 5 or so really sharp questions that TRAs could refuse to answer. My first thoughts are something along the lines of:
Why is it racist to identify as another race but stunning and brave to identify as another sex?
I'm sure somebody can word that better.

So any suggestions? The questions need to be short and clear.

@EdgeOfACoin

penis /ˈpiːnɪs/ Learn to pronounce noun the male genital organ of higher vertebrates, carrying the duct for the transfer of sperm during copulation. In humans and most other mammals it consists largely of erectile tissue and is used also for urination.

jj do transmen have such an organ?

Would you say to someone who has had nose reconstruction surgery you don't have a nose, you have cartilage from your chest stuck on your face? It's incredibly offensive to anyone who has had some form of reconstructive surgery.

But that's up to you I guess, so..

Should a trans man, who has had genital surgery, have the right to undress and shower in a communal changing room with teenage girls?

334bu · 18/02/2021 13:16

You seem remarkably reluctant to answer.

Given the very poor outcomes of such surgery, I would hope the numbers of transmen who undergo such procedures will remain very low. As to your question the answer is why not, as transmen don't have male sexual organs and also unlike transwomen who share the same patterns of criminality as all other males, transmen, being female, pose no higher risk to me than any other females.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/02/2021 12:56

You seem remarkably reluctant to answer.

Several people did answer. It's not a penis, so no FTM trans person will be getting a penis out anywhere, as only males have penises. HTH.

Female people should always be entitled to female spaces.
Entitlement is a fundamental principle conferred by sex. Extra provision is potentially an option - not a mandatory one - for those females who have altered their appearance so dramatically as to WANT to self-exclude from spaces with their own sex.

Mine is:

Since when is puberty an illness that needs a medical intervention?

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 18/02/2021 12:40

To the misogynist straight men who chant TWAW, they must, logically, also think TMAM. If the wives/partners of these men identified as men, would they be willing to declare themselves to now be in a homosexual relationship?

I ask because I question how many of them are aware of the transwidow stories, and how the narrative in trans ideology circles seems to focus on how mean women are.

It's telling really how many misogynists back the TWAW stuff. Never gave a shit about women's rights but suddenly "oh, of course transwomen are women! Move over and shut up you other women, show some respect for these ultra-oppressed women! And did I mention they have penises?"

Do you think they would want to? This hypothetical transman has made a huge decision: presumably they would have taken into account that this might put constraints on their life.

They don't. It isn't actually a penis.

jj1968 · 18/02/2021 11:54

@Ereshkigalangcleg

And only a tiny number have that.
They still exist. So the question remains:

Should a trans man, with a penis, have the right to undress and shower in a communal changing room with teenage girls?

SheGonBringThatAttitudeHome2 · 18/02/2021 10:56

@wellthatsunusual

Do you believe it is transphobic to require someone to disclose their previous name for the purposes of carrying out criminal record checks? Eg if someone applies for a job working with vulnerable children.

That's a belter.

Do you agree with the aims of safeguarding?

Do you think that there are situations where safeguarding principles are not necessary.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/02/2021 09:53

Because it's so dangerous and physically harmful.

Yes, just pointing out that it's an infrequent occurrence for FTM trans people to get a "penis" out in communal areas.

SheGonBringThatAttitudeHome2 · 18/02/2021 09:38

This is such a bad time to be a nudist, isn't it?

@334bu

*Should a trans man, with a penis, have the right to undress and shower in a communal changing room with teenage girls?*

No transman has a penis. What they have is a tube of arm tissue grafted on to their groin area. .

A more useful question with regards to a trans man and their “penis” would be to show them those photos of the realities of what it entails and ask “do you honestly think this is something we should be scheduling children for when they grow up?”

SheGonBringThatAttitudeHome2 · 18/02/2021 09:09

@Collidascope

Do you believe trans men convicts should be placed in a male prison even if they don't want to be?

Some of these suggestions are excellent. The one above is my fave up to now.

Could someone make a list of the best ones please? À la rules of misogyny..

@Labobo "I wish I had asked this: 'But what does that mean to be a woman in a man's body?
He went on about gender and I challenged it and said gender is dubious because it closes down the range of what a man or a woman can be. But then he gets emotional and starts asking why someone who is suicidal shouldn't be allowed puberty blockers. He has a few trans friends (who doesn't in their teens these days?) and he is very protective of them."
On the puberty blockers question, I'd suggest the fact that the Tavistock's own research says that puberty blockers make no improvement to the psychological function of those that take them (ie they don't get any less suicidal) but causes a number of physical harms such as a detrimental effect on bone density, is a good enough reason.
