This is my first thread in a very long time but I wanted to share the uplifting and fabulous experience I had today in Aldi😂

I reached 'peak' during the last lockdown and lurk regularly on here while trying to make sense of the madness.
DH is supportive to a degree but very nervous of me being vocal about my GC views as we are both teachers. I am a middle leader in a secondary school and he worries about me getting sackedConfused
So I can't discuss this much IRL.

Anyway, queing outside Aldi today and saw a woman a few people ahead of me with a 'Woman
Noun
adult human female' tote bag. I was thrilled and as soon as there was an opportunity (by the fruit and vegWink) I told her I liked her bag and that I knew what it meant.
She said I had made her day; I replied I she had made mine. Then she said 'Solidarity sister and see you on the next march'
We went on our separate ways but bloody hell it was brilliant. To vocalise it and be recognised. Felt a bit emotional and even now re-writing it, am a bit teary.

Just wanted to share. It was wonderful.

I don't actually know what you're on about (but I will Google).

thegreylady · 13/02/2021 18:37

What does GC stand for please? Is the G ‘gender’?

HermioneWeasley · 13/02/2021 18:36

Hi OP, I'm also a middle leader in a secondary school and GC, giving you a 👋 and a 👊

As a teacher, I'd really recommend you read Irreversible Damage by Abigail Shrier. I've taught children who have gone on to have surgery to 'change sex' as adults, I've always wondered if there was anything I could have done to set them on a less drastic path.

I’m waiting to get mine out in Superdrug, after I’ve used the last of points on a freebie

Awning10 · 13/02/2021 18:33

Try this for an explanation:

JaneyHenderson · 13/02/2021 18:33

@SingingLoud

I have the t/shirt, white with gold foil writing. I wore it out to a local cafe last year, we were queuing outside, at the door we were the next ones to go in, and a woman leaving the cafe with two teenagers pointed at my chest and said “yes” really loudly and gave me the thumbs up as she walked past. We were both wearing masks but both grinning like maniacs, I could tell by her eyes. Grin
I hear you! Just an ace moment of recognition between two women. It honestly made me wobbly. Tried to explain to DH when I got home but he doesn't get it.

I’m picturing June (OfFred) whispering to another resistance Handmaid in the grocery store

JaneyHenderson Delighted for youSmile

Bags are out of stock, but lots of other items to buy. My key ring and pen arrived this week. Am waiting for my first nod of recognitionWink.

@PCar20

What did you love about it? Sorry, this is a genuine question. I often don’t understand the posts on the feminism board and am trying to learn
It's a definition of woman that is often used by GC feminists. But I am still learning myself so am sure someone more knowledgeable can explain better than me.

🙄

JosephineBaker · 13/02/2021 18:22

I'd like one but it would upset one of my children too much - plus I live in the second most TWAW city in the country.

I still go on the m archers.

Cuntysnark · 13/02/2021 18:21

That’s warmed my cockles!
