Next time the woke patrol at work try to force me to put "my pronouns" into my email signature I'm going to use one of these. I shall change it weekly and each one shall be more ridiculous than the last.

Yours sincerely,
Mash (ze/zir)

Is that VisionOn?

BaronessWrongCrowd · 13/02/2021 11:04

Or even

화난/ 여자

(여자는 느낌이 아니다)

BaronessWrongCrowd · 13/02/2021 10:58

You may all refer to me as ♀/♀

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 13/02/2021 10:56

I was thinking that.

waterlego · 13/02/2021 10:52

I would be tempted to choose a symbol, à la Prince.

Neopronouns...

You see that would be very useful. I worked with someone who was like night and day - one day she’d be lovely and the next would bite your head off.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 13/02/2021 10:38

So it’s like when you add your ‘mood’ to your little icon on Waze?

ErrolTheDragon · 13/02/2021 10:28

@Xanthangum

Can everyone please join me in adding your preferred adjectives in your email signature. It doesn't take two minutes and gives everyone an unwanted insight into your psyche and private life.

Thanks, Xan (hungry/lonely)

Much better than fiddling around with pronouns, so much more scope for self-expression!

I enjoyed the gender census very much, thanks for the link Grin
@Seventytwo - I managed to tell them, using my preferred pronouns of wahrheit/veritas/verite/veracidad that my pronouns changed depending on the context in which 真実 were being spoken.
Can we use Japanese (?) characters then? Interesting...

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 13/02/2021 10:16

I did get an email at work someone had their pronouns in their name (so in the ‘From’ line). They were wanting to sell me something. I can’t say it endeared me to them.

TornadoOfSouls · 13/02/2021 10:15

@Seventytwo I decided I identify as a cat, I like to be addressed as Your Honour

I think a lot of young people are going to drop their fantasy pronouns after a few years when it’s become unfashionable and they realise that it’s just made life exhausting for themselves and those they interact with. Unless you work in arts or media or the rarified world of professional activism, it’s going to be very hard work to keep up and an awful lot of people will just quietly not take you seriously.

Basically, it will flag you up as being a bit of an insufferable knob.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 13/02/2021 10:04

I use pronouns in signatures as handy evidence an organisation has been captured and then have a look at their definitions around the equality act/descriptors of women

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 13/02/2021 10:04

What if you just don’t have one at all?

The gender census link posted upthread is great. I prefer the pronouns Goat/GoatZ and I was able to log them and their variants (as well as the alternative pronouns I use on Thursday evenings) using their detailed and inclusive survey. Perhaps they’ll catch on once the whole thing is published? At any rate, I feel immensely validated.

Babdoc · 13/02/2021 09:45

MissMarpleDarling, go to HR in floods of tears and sob that your employer is forcing you to out yourself as non binary when you are not ready, and you want advice on suing them. Grin

StealthPolarBear · 13/02/2021 09:40

Love the young ones :o
IME this thread will be deleted so I barely can be bothered to add to to it but if I am ever pressured to do this I will be she/him.

Oversize · 13/02/2021 09:33

I like fniff/fnizz or ptrutt/ptratt (silent, but essential to my dignity, p)

Oversize · 13/02/2021 09:31

If I'm ever forced to do this I'll make up my own and complain vociferously if management ever get them wrong.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 13/02/2021 09:22

@MissMarpleDarling

Got told yesterday we have to start putting ours below our name in emails. I feel like an idiot writing my name then (she/her).
Have to - HAVE to? Crikey. In my 30 years working I’ve never ‘had’ to do anything so sinister. And I worked in the City for 15 years...
BraveBananaBadge · 13/02/2021 09:18

"ze/zir feels more like it was made for me. And after everything I've been through with my gender, I deserve something shiny and just for me and other people like me."

The crux of the matter right there? Shallow, simplistic, infantile, self-centred silliness.

highame · 13/02/2021 09:09

It just sounds so infantile. When adults put pronouns, I suddenly find my respect level falls. It's not in any way transphobic, it just doesn't belong in adult discourse - might be wrong, in which case, tell me why I am
