After the demise of no 4 thread, does anyone think it’s worth reviving or should we rephrase the question? 96%- 4% at the end I think.

In saying that, I saw the thread last night and it was going to be Swiss cheese. There was some very dodgy posts from one brand new poster who looked like they were only there to get it banned and the mask slipped on the other poster who really could not see their contradictory views but basically their perspective was incredibly misogynistic.

Langry thank you. I think we got a very good experiment on just how the word change caused so much commotion. Why? The previous other threads didn’t attract so much.

But changing it to a visible penis in the presence of a teenage girl does stir high emotions. Strangely, the question then becomes more about predatory men than transwomen, but some people don’t see that.

And some of the stories that were coming out about voyeurism and assault in bathrooms were concerning. These were from posters I had not remembered on these boards so maybe don’t post here.

I wonder if we can get it reinstated because they have mistaken the name.

MissingLinker · 04/02/2021 08:07

The last few threads on AIBU have been brilliant for discussion (and for getting people to actually read through the arguments instead of them cordoning off FWR as "the nasty transphobic corner I heard about on Twitter").

As the most basic question: (AIBU to ask) What is a woman? would be interesting outside of FWR.

picklemewalnuts · 04/02/2021 08:01

ThanksThanks for everyone- that was a bastard of a thread- I didn't get to the end before it went poof.

Winesalot · 04/02/2021 07:59

Ummm!! The message says they think it was started by Lang Cleg (I assume), maybe if we ask, it can be reinstated.

EdgeOfACoin · 04/02/2021 07:55

So irritated it's gone.

@JoodyBlue

Because It is so tiring and goes round in circles I am just reading It now. I do think though that there are lots of AIBUs that would be of general interest to all women not just FWR. The bathroom q is important but for me the loss of language and the teaching of young people is massive. Because of the recent ramp up in Scotland it is going beyond everyday sexism to real threat to women generally and to mothers in particular. I think there is a strong case to be made for a few more aibu topics. Eventually posters may stop reading the current one, as successfully enlightening as it has been. I haven't followed thread 5! Flowers closely, but has it become a bit bun fighty now?
I missed all of this until last night when I saw this thread. The latest AIBU thread is gone now I think. Thank you to everyone for all the work it takes.

It would be interesting to know how much extra traffic has been generated in FWR since those excellent AIBU threads.
I am so glad MN didn't cave in and delete or move them.

JoodyBlue · 04/02/2021 07:15

It is exhausting @Langrycleg. Take a break away from it when you need. It can become consuming Smile

Delphinium20 · 04/02/2021 03:54

Just a big thanks @Langrycleg for your work!!Daffodil

Whatsnewpussyhat · 04/02/2021 02:53

I too arrived on FWR via AIBU, a few years back. Which is how I know that there are many, many women who just don’t know what is happening - I certainly didn’t

This was always the plan. Get it all done behind closed doors before the general public realised too late to stop it. Most women either oblivious or think they are safe.

IWillSqueakAgain · 04/02/2021 01:42

I never expected it wouldn’t be like this.

I didn’t anticipate the trans part. But I never had any illusion women had rights or that I was safe. Men rail roading us again and again seems standard to me.

I don’t think I have a point I’m afraid (too tired sorry) but I just don’t find this surprising and I think I find it surprising how many women are so shocked at this.

But once it’s seen it can’t be unseen. And that’s something at least.

@Sophiederuges

Hey there! I just wanted to say thank you. Those threads were a real eye opener for me and I'm sure I am not the only woman you reached that way on AIBU. I have learnt a great deal and have started questioning things now. Just to say all your effort aren't in vain Thanks
Great to hear, and welcome!

I too arrived on FWR via AIBU, a few years back. Which is how I know that there are many, many women who just don’t know what is happening - I certainly didn’t. And this is one of the very few places where women can discuss this. (And even here we are very heavily policed.)

Life as a woman in 21st century Britain. I never expected it would be like this.

Langrycleg · 03/02/2021 23:33

8 pages in and I am already exhausted! But pleased to see more new posters. Not so pleased with the weird language used by one or two. Just being told we have no right to be on AIBU.

OP posts:
Eowynthewarrior · 03/02/2021 23:32

Isn’t it even starker than that. Should girls be forced to strip naked in changing rooms and shower in front of persons with fully functioning male genitalia
Most schools have communal shower facilities and if anything like my school PE was compulsory . Lifelong hater of any form of sport or gyms as a result

JoodyBlue · 03/02/2021 22:21

Hi @Sophiederuges and welcome Smile

Winesalot · 03/02/2021 21:53

@Langrycleg

Already we have examples...
Indeed we do. The direct question Spurs a more emotive discussion both ways it seems. Just like on twitter.

Thank you. And thanks for all the feedback from people reading through all the threads. Glad to see it being useful.

MerchedCymru · 03/02/2021 21:47

It was a joy to see all the comments / questions / discussion in AIBU. Brilliant work by the OPs and the patient, thoughtful posters who helped keep the threads going.

People are waking up, no doubt about it!

Yes agree Datun, will put it up with your suggestion
Glad you found it helpfulSophiederuges
Very little energy left but perhaps worth keeping it going!

OP posts:
Whatsnewpussyhat · 03/02/2021 20:55

Those poles gave me a bit of hope.
The amount of votes shows people are waking up and aware, even if they feel unable to join in.

Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

thirdfiddle · 03/02/2021 20:55

Damn, missed all the excitement, I don't follow aibu much.

DialSquare · 03/02/2021 20:54

I must admit that I lost energy for the last one but I do think it's a good idea to keep it going. As we all agree, it should be a very easy question to answer.

I think it's the wording about not having the right as opposed to being allowed.

Allowance is sometimes dependent on the service provider. Rights aren't.
