Eddie Izzard states he has both 'girl and boy' GENETICS?

Story released today quotes Izzard as saying they have both girl and boy genetics? What the actual hell? I'm lost for words. What fantasy planet are they living on? Hope no-one, especially children, reading this actually believes this is possible.

@NotBadConsidering

I’ve said this before, but I think it would be wonderful if there was a genetic marker* for identifying trans, that way all the speculation could be taken out of it. And given there is a significant lack of funding for this as a research project, I think Eddie should run marathons to raise money for it.

*there isn’t, and there won’t be, and if there was there are definitely some people who won’t be too keen to queue up for it.

I wonder if someone is doing that study?

Apologies- my post seems a bit random, I was partly replying to @HerselfIndoors, but then realised that I'd veered off course.

I think that there'd been a case in America of a politician believing sincerely that she had native American grandparents/ great grandparents, but was found on DNA test not to: www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/elizabeth-warren-again-apologizes-after-release-of-native-american-ancestry-link-11566241904

I think that a feminist philosopher explored the concept of "transracialism"- but it resulted in a whole massive scandal and people losing their jobs: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypatia_transracialism_controversy
I think that the article was probably referring to people like: Rachel Dolezal, Jessica Krug and possibly Martina Big (although Martina big / Malaika Kubwa went through extensive body modifications). Those individuals would be regarded as gross cultural appropriation and offensive.

"Conclusion
Routine molecular karyotyping of 128 children and adolescents presenting with suspected GD failed to detect any occult DSD and indicated that the rate of CNVs was similar to that of the general population. We therefore suggest that molecular karyotyping has minimal clinical utility in the routine management of GD."

Conclusion of Australian Study " Molecular Karotyping in Children and Adolescents with Gender Dysphoria"

Dinotail · 05/02/2021 09:45

I feel Eddie is not only offensive to women but also anyone with a dsd.

I think the sef ID issue with ethnicity and disablity are viewed differently though (so far at least). For example if you are mixed-race you might choose to identify as black (or asian or native american etc), or as mixed-race, or as white, depending on a number of things. It does not (so far) mean you can be white and identify as black as a statement of your inner feelings, while knowing you are not black at all - in other words "trans-black". Or you can, and people do, but there is open condemnation of that, rather being expected to admire it.

But there are already people doing the trans-disabled thing and trying to disable themselves - and that is being questioned.

Though maybe the whole concept of trans self ID in all kinds of areas will extend so far that that will become one of the various ways in which it trans ideology eats itself and is consigned to history.

Study has already been done to prove absolute!y no link with DSD conditions and transgender people. Using so called " intersex" conditions to explain gender identity is ableist and exploitative. Eddie Izzard should know better than this

Thanks. I did wonder but cba to literature search and funnily enough there’s no mention of any study in all the TRA stuff so not surprised it’s a negative link.

Is Eddie a Chimera? It is possible to have some XX and some XY cells...rare, but possible.

Actually a study of transwomens genetics would make a nice masters or PhD for someone. See if there is any correlation of sex chromosome disorders with trans identity.**

Don't know if BAME is. If woman is, why isn't BAME?

Their document says

Are you BAME?
Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic is used here as a statistical term.
The last census in Scotland sought a response to the question ‘What is your ethnic group?’ using these classifications:
White: Scottish / Other British / Irish / Gypsy/Traveller / Polish / Other White
Mixed or multiple ethnic groups
Asian, Asian Scottish or Asian British: Pakistani, Pakistani Scottish or Pakistani British / Indian, Indian Scottish or Indian British ...
African: ...
Carribean or Black: ...
Other ethnic groups: Arab, Arab Scottish or Arab British / Other ethnic group

If your true answer to the census question is anything other than the groups listed under ‘White’, then you should describe yourself as ‘BAME’.

So it depends on your "true" answer, but then what is "true"? Are we requiring that those saying they're women give a true answer? If you're accepting their truth, why won't you accept my truth?

Plus, there's a lot of leeway there in "Mixed or multiple" and "Other".

But definitely no gypsies or travellers allowed.

Not sure about Jews. Are they "white" or "other"? (A bit of a touchy area for some of these new Woke types.)

Another question I'd like an answer to - are "BAME"s actually underrepresented in the Scottish parliament? This document says yes, I've seen others say no. I'm sure there are fewer than American-addled Wokes would like, but compared to the Scottish population?

@MedusasBrandyButter

The wording "do you identify as having a disability" was intended to offer people with a disability some agency over whether they wanted to declare it on a form/ for a job app, etc. It was not intended for all and sundry to demand accommodation for their non-diagnosed and even non-existent disabilities. It was certainly not intended to allow free-riders to benefit from any affirmative action. Ugh.
Yes, the 'identify' is being used in a completely different way. On a job form etc you may or may not want to declare a protected characteristic that you actually have.

Cailleach1 · 05/02/2021 01:19

No. I was right first time. it is in the QC's letter. Both disability and BAME are self-ID.

Monopoly over.

Cailleach1 · 05/02/2021 01:16

Sorry. Major fail as I think that may be wrong about BAME self-ID. Disability status is self-ID. Don't know if BAME is. If woman is, why isn't BAME?

Cailleach1 · 05/02/2021 01:11

Ok, it's from the Wings Over Scotland website. However, sometimes you get your news where you can.

@CranberriesChoccyAgain

People seem to grasp that self-id doesn't apply to ethnicity (if that's what you meant by minority group). Why the same people suddenly pretend that biological sex isn't an equal but different reality to race is quite baffling.
You're wrong. It is alleged that the SNP voted self id would apply to ethnicity in the upcoming regional elections in May. Allegedly, they voted to allot the top place on the list in four areas to BAME candidates (Self-ID). Allegedly, they also wish to allot the top list place for people with disabilities (self-ID) in 4 regions.

Can't remember the ins and outs, but they received a QC opinion that it may be in conflict with the Equalities act, but they went ahead anyway. Someone leaked the details of the meeting and the letter.

Apparently, there are a few petunias rushing to declare their long held disabilities. I suspect the disability which a person can Self-ID as having is not restricted to those conditions which are usually accepted as such. More latitude. Wonder if humans having our ancestry in the rift valley will qualify as BAME Self-ID for white people who aspire to be as 'progressive' thinking as someone like EI, for example. That sort of appropriation is progressive now, isn't it?

It seems to me that this self identity business is a great way to cheat and steal other peoples places. Horse and coach through measures to create a level playing field and opportunities for other people.

@Doyoumind

It's laughable to even imagine that anyone could argue that a brain scan would be able to identify your gender but your genitals don't determine your sex. And yet...

Cailleach1 · 05/02/2021 00:33

First line reads wrong. Meant that as humans have a similar 98% of their genome in common with Chimps that maybe Chimp ID is the next thing. But maybe they wouldn't find it so .... arousing.

Cailleach1 · 05/02/2021 00:30

Is this like those who say that humans share 98% of their genome with Chimpanzees. Maybe Chimpanzee ID is the next. genetics.

There was an interesting book I read ages ago called Virolution, by Frank Ryan. It stated that there is some virus material in our dna. Maybe someone like EI will come along and equally identify as a virus. Well it is in his dna. That or a chimpanzee.

Brilliant!

😂 I hadn’t even thought of it that way. Brain structure and biology indicates sex, structure and biology of any other part of the body, including genitals, doesn’t.

There is some really messed up logic out there.
